The sacred European format of two or three teams per country being any good and just running through everyone else for decades at a time is at stake!
yeah, this is my point. Without serious revenue sharing and a salary cap, the problems that everyone is complaining about for the Super League will be there either way.

Mourinho finally gets Spurs to Europe and they sack him! Dammit makes me even more angry about two stupid Michael Keane boners to get Spurs get a point at Goodison on Friday.

I do think there needs to be fixes there for sure, the super league only exacerbates those problems
why did they think this was gonna work? lol Bayern and Dortmund look so good now lol
well the Spanish and Italian teams are in extremely dire straits financially. the two teams that pulled out, Chelsea and City, are pretty much fine financially due to their ownership. the rest really need the money, though the PL teams much less so than Spain and Italy. this was a hail mary to stay financially competitive with PSG, Chelsea and City.

because they run their clubs like trash... It's not like Bayern/Dortmund/RBL are bringing in anywhere close to the $$$ of a team like Madrid or Barcelona or ManU. Leicester and West Ham are currently in champions league positions in the prem. PSG is in an extremely tight race in the French league despite the massive $$$ difference between them and everyone else in that league.

thats not exactly fair, as the german model just essentially serves as a feeder team to Bayern. Atleti is pretty well run but they are also in a really bad financial spot post COVID

I mean Barca/Madrid are basically the Bayern of everywhere as far as just picking up the best players from other teams. Atleti just built a brand new stadium and has the second highest paid coach in the world and just paid one of the highest transfer fees ever. I get that they're struggling financially but that's also largely brought onto themselves. I get that Messi is the GOAT but he's getting paid literally double that of Ronaldo or Neymar.

Good 3 points for the good guys yesterday (even if a fluke goal), doing the double over Arsenal for the first time since 1986-87. Then Newcastle grab a huge point late against Liverpool! The European dream is not dead yet for the Merseyside Blues.

It would be absolutely hilarious if Everton finish above Liverpool, please make it happen

We've got a game in hand on everyone (except Villa - game was postponed back in January due to a COVID outbreak at Villa) but there's been no mention of when it will be rescheduled, and we are sort of running out of time. A win in that game puts us into 6th (level with West Ham but they have better GD, and they have their match with Chelski today).
It was weird hearing people talk about soccer on Boston sports radio the other day. Then again, John Henry owns both the Red Sox and Liverpool.
In a nutshell, Henry was being criticized for being overly greedy wanting to join the Super League and for being incapable of relating to other people.

Yeah, lots of people thought it was him, Kroenke, and the Glazers pushing ESL.
Obregón Jr. is most famous for scoring the opening goal in Honduras’s 2-1 victory over Team USA in March. The loss ended Team USA's bid to qualify for the 2021 Olympic games. Honduras will compete in the Olympics this summer and Juan Carlos is eligible to participate.
Looks like Htfd signed a decent forward. Though the part about helping beat the US... ugh, the USMNT still sucks.

Barcelona vs. Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid vs. Sevilla are both this weekend, quite easily the most important games of the season. Atleti are still hanging on to first place currently, with 76 points, but Real and Barca both have 74 and Sevilla isn’t far behind with 70. Atleti need to win out to win the title, Real needs to win out to win the title but they also need Atleti to drop points somewhere, Barca wins the title if they win out and Real drops points somewhere, and a lot of things needs to go weird for Sevilla to win it at this point.
Went to Hartford's home opener yesterday. They played against Pittsburgh, who is always a tough team. Last year Hartford managed to beat Pittsburgh in the group. Pittsburgh ended up signing our top scorer last year during the offseason. Last night, a Pittsburgh player got a straight red card for shoving a Hartford defender and then stomping on his leg. Then Hartford tied the game in the 91st minute, to escape with a point out of it.
Feels like there's a Hartford vs. Pittsburgh rivalry budding - and if Hartford can keep up with the Riverhounds on the field, it feels like they can be a legit playoff team in the East.
