Just saw this on the instagram: "Bonnaroo has a radius clause that stipulates any artist playing Bonnaroo cannot play in a 300 mile radius of Manchester within a 60 day window on either end of festival dates". Is this true? And how, after going to four Roo's, I have never heard this before?

corporatehippie, you wanna try your new knowledge out on this on????
Dammit, Justin with the ninja
Edit: to actually be helpful sudieraeep, the radius clause generally only applies to big draw artists. They put it in the contract to avoid losing sales in the region if someone plays a solo show near by. This is not usually applicable to lower tier artists and exists at most major festivals. And don't rule anyone out because of the "radius clause." You'll be ridiculed. Radiusclaus has his name for a reason.

My lawyer has advised me to say that, I have no comment at this time. justinmn9319 and Monie
“Music has always been a matter of Energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed Fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio.” - Hunter Thompson

I take it that this is old news and I'm just late to the game
Take it as never mention radius clause again, and hope you come out of this unscathed.
The jist: "Radius Clause" is something that gets thrown around waaaaaay too often by people who have no idea how it actually works. There are certainly some exclusivity agreements between fests and some of the top tiered artists from time to time. But people take this as a hard and fast rule. Don't. For all intents and purposes, pretend it doesn't exist. There are countless examples of artists playing shows in Nashville/surrounding areas before/after Bonnaroo.

Both Carnap and Schlick were logical positivists and members of the Vienna Circle who believed that the only meaningful statements were those that could be empirically verified. Statements that could not be verified by sense data were said to be "nonsense". Quine was a 20th century analytic philosopher who was highly critical of Logical Positivism. Not too much about his philosophy relates to the comic. You can see more about him in the comic 28, and the notes there. Nelson Goodman was an American analytic philosopher, perhaps most famous for his essay The New Riddle of Induction, which questions our ability to distinguish between lawlike generalizations (i.e. gravity - masses always attract) and accidental ones (all ravens are black, but we might find white ones one day). See more on the notes on comic 2. William James was an American psychologist and philosopher, and one of the chief figures in the philosophical school of pragmatism. He believed that knowledge claims only had meaning insofar as they were useful to the believer. So the truth of anything is dependent only on its use. Camus was sexy as fuck.
