Going off last year's lineup we're still due for 3-4 "big" names. Last year there were two bands (Shovels and Rope, Kurt Vile) billed above the Thursday headliner (Jason Isbell). Best case for me would be Father John Misty and The War on Drugs but this lineup is so good already that anything else is just a bonus.

Wow, this is looking fantastic. The lineup is nice, the atmosphere sounds good, the price is reasonable, and the driving distance isn't bad (for me).
That said, I haven't been there before or to a ton of other festivals. I'm totally comfortable with Roo, thanks in no small part to Inforoo, and small stuff like Hookahville and whatever at Nelson Ledges Quarry Park, but that's about all I've done. So would anyone care to compare and contrast Nelsonville to Bonnaroo? How big is it? I've read everything at the fest's site and I'm leaning toward going, but I still can't help but wonder what the layout it like, how the campgrounds are, the stage(s), whether the lines to get into camp or the venue get long, whether it is easy to get back and forth, what the schedule is like, what the porto, shower, and vendor situation is like, etc., so any help would be greatly appreciated.

For the most part, Nelsonville is a really laid back festival. It's not an all-out bacchanalia like some of the fests at the Ledges. One of the selling point is the setting in SE Ohio. It's on the campus of Hocking College, and one of the stages is set up between a bunch of log cabins in a mostly-shaded area. Some artist also play intimate gigs in one of the cabins. The Hocking River flows right by the campsite field, which is short walking distance from the concert area. I've never encountered a line to get into the campground, but I always try to get there Thursday to get a good spot. The lines and searches to get into the concert area also are quick and non intrusive. The porto situation isn't bad at all. I've never run into an overflow situation, and people can take showers inside one of the nearby college buildings. As for the vendors, they have a pretty ideal selection from the area. There are a lot of unique choices, like an Athens gourmet hot dog place. They also serve draft beer from another Athens institution, Jackie O's. The first year I want there really wasn't anything to do late night, but they added a tent in the campground last year. They had square dancing one night, and a big vinyl dance party the next, if I remember right.

Yes to everything said above me. It's small, comparable in size to Hookahvilles. But it's much more family friendly. When I went last year I'm not sure anyone was on anything other than a little weed here and there. No one walking around selling drugs or anything like that. I think it'd be weird to be tripping or all fucked up there actually. Lots of kids, multiple stages but only one big stage. And it's got some nice shady places to hang out inside the concert area. Camp grounds are sparse, but should you get lucky, you could be camped next to an electrical outlet. Which is awesome.

Sounds good, thanks for the prompt replies! I'm not ready to buy a ticket yet but I think I'll check my calendar at work and see if anyone wants to join me, cause this looks like fun.

I kind of rage at Nelsonville, but it's more of a quiet, on-the-down-low sort of raging. That written, I'd imagine the crowd for the Flaming Lips will be into some shenanigans. I know I will.

Yea, with the addition of FLips I'm sure more shenanigans will be had. I'd be shocked if there's not. They're playing Friday, correct? Maybe I'll go for Thursday & Friday and join. Who knows. Still wish St. Vincent was Friday!!!
I messaged NMF on Facebook about lineup additions and they replied
We've got another round of announcements coming soon! Keep your eyes peeled!
It looks like they always announce these things on Fridays so we'll likely get it this upcoming Friday or the week afterwards! I'd like to hope that this is the last major lineup drop but my more rational side knows that there will likely be one in March and one in April, but hopefully this next one includes more than just 7 acts.

Brand Carlisle Built to spill elephant revival mandolin orange ezra furmin san fermin natalie prass michael hurley ryley walker adam torres speaking suns bummers dead hand of man soddy daisy soul dance party w/ heatwave
Built to Spill is one of my all time favorite bands so I couldn't be happier right now! Really glad to see San Fermin, Natalie Prass, and Ryley Walker join the bill too.
If my math is right then we still have about half the lineup left and at least one or two more big names. Looks like Saturday in particular is in for one more big one, going off the listed days for bands on their home page.
Here's the daily breakdown, I'll try to update it as more bands are announced. Saturday looks absolutely awful for conflicts, pretty much every band that day is a must see for me If it helps, here's the 2013 schedule which makes me hopeful that most of the announced acts so far will end up on the main stage and thus prevent any conflicts
Thursday: Trampled By Turtles Lucero Elephant Revival Ezra Furman
Friday: The Flaming Lips Built to Spill Elephant Revival Mandolin Orange Ryley Walker
Saturday: St. Vincent Hurray for the Riff Raff Oblivians Moon Hooch San Fermin Natalie Prass Sarah Neufeld Heatwave Dance Party
Sunday: Merle Haggard Brandi Carlile Hurray for the Riff Raff Greg Brown
TBA: Michael Hurley Natural Child* My Bubba* Good English* Adam Torres Soddy Daisy Speaking Suns Bummers Dead Hand of Man
I'll update the OP later. I'm happy with Thurs/Fridays line up so far since those are the only days I can go. Still wish I could swap out St. Vincent and Flaming Lips, but whatcha gon do?

For my tastes, Built to Spill is a killer addition. I have to figure anyone who wants to get close to that show is going to be able to move their way right to the front. That's how it was for Dinosaur Jr. last year at least.
Well I just found out that I unfortunately can't take an entire weekend off for this. But I will be there for a day or two for sure. Either Friday or Saturday. Haven't decided yet (will probably have to wait to find out what commitments I have that weekend for work and when they are).

I'm liking the looks of this more and more. The Black Lips are a great addition, and I have the time of from work, so I just need to buy a ticket and gather my gear. The lineup is really looking good.
Should we bring a wagon/cart/hand truck? Looks relatively small and family friendly (which is good), but is it okay to get your drink on, etc.? I never get too wild or anything, and may end up going alone, but I don't go to events like this to not party. Really looking forward to a fun start to the warm season.
Can't wait for both varieties of lips, black and flaming. And as a reminder, 91% of bands with "black" in their names are awesome - that's science.

Saturday and Friday both look pretty huge in terms of bands playing, so I hope you can make both days!

Man, I hope I'm not the only one who appreciates the occasional hilarity of the swearing censorship here. In case you are reading it uncensored, rather than it reading like Baseholes<sic> it says Bjerkstores, which might actually be a viable band name, albeit not as good as the real one. Inforoo censorship is the only kind I stand for.
