I am surprised this has not been posted yet, but DAMN! Any Disco Biscuits fans out there? If you have not heard, SOSMP is quacking magical and Aura lives up to that magic. Quickly growing on my list of favorite Fest, this is a smaller fest, but Aura delivers big time and then some. If any of these Artists 'wet your palate', then you need to get down on this! See you there.
Long time lurker, but I finally created an account just to come and talk about Aura. I've been to many festivals before, but this will be my first solo fest. Hoping to meet some cool cats to hang out with. this will also be my first time at SOSMP, and I couldn't be more excited!! My name's Ziggy and I'm from Raleigh, NC. So excited for Moe and the Break Science live band. Something tells me that Michael Jackson tribute will be awesome, too! That dude from Main Squeeze has pipes!! Anyway, hope to get to know some of y'all at the fest!
103 more days =) That Break Science show is going to be insane! They killed it at Bears Creek, which was an excellent festival overall! Welcome Ziggy! SoSMP is an absolutely beautiful venue. Feel free to ask any questions and hope to see you there!

Welcome to the forum Ziggy. You will love Sosmp, I might be bias, I live less than 2 hrs away, but I think others will agree, Sosmp is quacking amazing and truly magical. You will enjoy Aura as well. The people who put it on, do it right. That Break Science Live show is going be insane! I am also looking forward to some MJ tribute, I agree that cat can sing. Check out Tauk and Kung Fu! I'm hoping to find it in my budget to make my first Aura this year. I've done Bear Creek 2012-13, Purple Hatters 2014 and Hulaween 2014 already...this is the one fest everyone tells me I must do next since I am into electronic music and more intimate suwannee crowds. The lineup just blows me away. I have put in for the time off...just gotta get a ticket secured!
I saw Break Science open up for Lettuce Sunday. They brought out Jesus from Lettuce for a couple of songs. This was just a small taste of the live Break Science and it was incredible!! Definitely my most anticipated set of the fest, now! Schedule will be release Feb 2. There aren't usually too many conflicts are there? This lineup is so stacked for my tastes that I sure hope not!
I know this is considered a small fest. How many folks usually turn out? This is my first time going. I am arriving Thursday for the pre-party. Does it usually take a long time when arriving to get through the checkpoint and get set up? I'm coming alone and this is my first time at SOSMP. Any tips for a first timer?

SoSMP is my favorite music venue that I've been to do far. I went to Hulaween and Bears Creek last year so compared to some ppl, my knowledge of the place is limited but I'll try my best. You should be part the check point within 15 minutes tops. I don't think it took longer then 10 either time for me. Basically you park your vehicle, show your ticket at the booth, get your wristband then get back in your car and that's it for checkpoint! Camping around the lake is CROWDED, some ppl like that, some don't. Once you pass the checkpoint, you'll be stopped so someone cancheck your wristband. At this point you can either go straight or go left. I go left and set up camp before I pass any buildings. You have a lot more space in this area and the main stage, general store, music hall (check out the breakfast buffett there on the wkends!) are all easily within a 7 minute walk. You're not goin hear traffic from the road outside the park either. I might go camping on the river one day, but I've been loving the area where I camp!
There are several bath houses scattered around the park that offer free showers. If you forget something important, there's a walmart about a 10 minute drive down the road.
The cops are chill as long as your chill.
Very important for ppl that enjoy indulging in festival magic; Between the music hall and general store is a pool. Directly across that pool is a large wooden cage that's home to 3 Macaw parrots. The blue one is fucking awesome!!
Loving this schedule!! Not too many conflicts! The Funkin Grateful/Papadosio and The Fritz/Papadosio are rough, but other than that, no complaints! How far apart are the stages? Is it pretty easy to go back and forth between The Porch and Amphitheater stages? Hardest thing about this fest is going to be stamina! I want to see so many of these acts!!

If the porch is the purple hat stage at bear creek, takes less than 5 minutes to walk. It's pretty easy to get around that park. All stages are maybe 5 minutes of the Ampitheater.
I would like to have gone to Aura. I will get to that in the next couple of years.

Porch Stage is probably the closest stage to the ampitheater. It's the old porch looking building near where the merchandise/food is usually setup. During Bear Creek, the Purple Hat stage is the main stage in the field, which they will not be using for Aura.
What's the best place to camp? I'm torn between the lake or pine. pros? Cons? Main thing I want to be able to do is hang out in my hammock, not be super cramped and not have too awful of a walk to the stages. Thoughts?
Both are great spots and close to the music. The lake looks amazing in the morning. We camp in the pine field area and have a blast. I do not think you will go wrong with either. Come find Short Cut Camp and say hi. Just look for the lights in the trees. Yes, those lights that you see high up there.
I would say, in relation to Bonnaroo. The porch stage is closer to the Ampitheater, than the Other tent is to This tent. Or in other words, if you fart on the porch we will smell it at the amp stage. The music hall is the furthest stage away from everything. It is on the other side of the pool and convince store.
I love how this crew works the schedule. They do the best they can with sound bleed and conflicts. Yes, there are some, but if you show ends on the porch stage, you will not miss a second of the next show on the Ampitheater stage.

Might sound a bit weird, but on the map I camp at the spot where it says box office and exit. You can see the music hall and the lotus stage is less than a 5 minute walk. You're close to the general store, can't hear the traffic from the main road and you have TONS of space!
Less than 2 weeks away!! So excited!! Curious what the food/beer scene is like. They mention on their site that they have micro brews. Anyone know what breweries? I manage a bottle shop here in Raleigh, so the beer nerd in me is hoping its some awesome Florida beer. Cigar City perhaps? I'll also be bringing some awesome NC cans if anyone wants to meet up to share some brews at camp.

Not sure. If it's the same guy who runs Bear Creek, there was a decent selection but I'll be damned if I can remember what all they had . Food was pretty superior for what I was expecting as well. Be sure, if it's there, to check out the psychedelic food truck from Jacksonville. You'll know it if you see it. They had French fried roasted beets and a really good 2-pork chop dinner for pretty cheap. Very surprising. But most of the other stuff was good too.

Dunedin Brewery has special beers exclusive to Aura. Not sure if they will be the only craft brews available though. Usually Suwannee events have some Goose Island and Lagunitas varieties available too, but there's no telling with Dunedin having Aura/DB inspired brews.
Where do you camp vs where you park? I will have a media pass so I have no idea if I'll get to choose campsite or if it will be assigned.
Pretty much one in the same at Suwannee. When you enter the gates you drive around until you find your ideal camping location, park, and set up camp where ever you can/want. You can camp next to your car or park away from the site. It's all up to you and how much space you have at the spot you decide to settle.
So excited!! Weather is looking pretty good, except for Thursday when they're calling for afternoon thunderstorms. I really don't want to set up camp in the rain, but I guess its better than taking down and putting away wet gear.If any of you see a bearded dude camping by himself with an orange marmot tent, driving a silver subaru wagon with NC plates, come say hi! I'll be glad to share some delicious NC beers with ya! I need to get on that after party show before it sells out.
