Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I was a little taken aback, but its still worth it. I just hope its justified. I always sing the "Bonnaroo is so cheap" song when trying to convince my friends to go, so I hope that doesn't trend differently in coming years. Also, the fact that camping is included is still a big seller for me.
that kind of money here... I'd kill myself within hours.
That kind of money here... I could literally pay rent for hours.
Rabble rabble, things are more expensive than they used to be! That is a sizeable jump, though. I think it increased about $40 between '08 & '13, now it's up about another $40 in a year.
It's likely one of three things: major infrastructure improvements (but 3 mil worth?), 1 or 2 massive headliners (Strolling Bones / Purple One / Roobots), or just plain ol' greed. Or some combo thereof.
FWIW, my Stones tickets were cheaper than Macca tickets last year, so I don't know if that's it, unless there's a big fat exclusivity clause for them in there.
Thinking it could be something like this.
$1M to infrastructure/permanent structures $1M extra to a bigger artist $.5M to increase production (all the video screens!) $.5M to brunch's drinks and karaoke budget

Am I right!?
No, Capp Dog bought a house in Nashville and needed to pay for it.

Given my experience bonnaroo has a mediocre lineup and then a great lineup and then it repeats. 2013 was amazing, 2014 was okay. Obviously 2015 is going to have incredible artists justifying the price hike. I hope.
Keep them expectations low and when the lineup drops it can only flatline or get better. Usually better.
Honestly, the lineups are always good. Sometimes, they just aren't as good as previous years. But to actually say the lineup is bad, is just acting spoiled and ungrateful. Just sayin

I expect lower number of tickets sold this year unless an AMAZING lineup is announced. I did expect a minor price increase but the more I thought about it, I am still taken back at just how steep the increase was.

Agreed, they have to match 2013 or best it. But I think they're ok with selling less because they can afford to sell less and still make more money than ever off of ticket sells and it will also be easier to manage with the lower attendance. So it's a win/win for them: either they make ALOT more money on tickets or they make about the same money on tickets and save money on running the festival due to the lower attendance. As much as I hate them making such a huge price jump, I really don't blame because festivals are at their most popular and if people are willing to pay more, why not charge more? But, it's a dick move to the returning people who have been going to roo for years and are going to return no matter what the lineup. In reality though, they owe us nothing, we just like to think they do.

I was looking at lineups on my 2013 & 2014 shirts the other day.... Didnt examine way too closely but quickly thought that the 2014 undercard was much better.
Macca in 13 was great but I thought the overall 2014 lineup was better

To me, the top end of the undercard was stronger in 2014, but overall, 2013 was better for me.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not hatin' on Bonnaroo. But sometimes we can get way overhyped over nothin'.

Yeah, I gotcha. And I wasn't trying to call you spoiled or ungrateful. Really, the fact that anybody will say that any of the big festival in the US are crappy, shows how spoiled we have become" in terms of the acts we get at festivals. But I do agree, some years get way more hype than they deserve.
FloydFest sent out an email that for people who bought their tickets before the end of 2014 their prices would be locked for the next 5 years. Thoughts on whether anyone would implement that on a larger fest?

I think this would be an amazing idea but would a major fest do this? I would be all for it for sure

I would've been on it before this most recent increase in price.

The lineup is always gonna be great in some way. I say the money is mostly for improvements and some well deserved profit. Less than $100 dollars a day with camping is still one of the best deals around for live music every year!

Do any other festivals have screens on all their stages? I know screens on the tents has been a desire for a lot for a long time. I just wondered if anybody else did it. None of the other festivals I've been to have had side stages of comparable size to That, This, and Other.
Who makes guacamole happen!?!? Does a tabloid like the University of Oklahoma student paper make guacamole happen or do ME AND YOU make it exist? Just cause they write about it doesn't make guacamole exist - ME AND YOU MAKE IT EXIST!

I looked back over my tickets from past bonnaroos and the price now compared to 2006 when I first attended is $100 difference. You might think that's just 10 a year over ten years but $40 of that is this year alone. It took 8 years to creep up $60 and then this year alone it ballooned $40 more.

coachella has screens in two of their three tents.
