Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I looked back over my tickets from past bonnaroos and the price now compared to 2006 when I first attended is $100 difference. You might think that's just 10 a year over ten years but $40 of that is this year alone. It took 8 years to creep up $60 and then this year alone it ballooned $40 more.
Definitely doesn't show in the line up. Hopefully there's been major infrastructure changes
Goes to next year's lineup, plus some upgrades on the grounds this year (maybe screens)? Or it could just go to offset the costs of the Canada fest AC is doing
Hey, let me ask you all a question. Do you like money, and do you wish you had more of it?
The answer, inevitably, is yes. And yet some of you are still struggling, groping for increasingly desperate answers as to why they increased the ticket price.

seriously.
does this influx of extra cash make them feel more comfortable about spending extra money on the festival infrastructure? sure, just like getting a raise might give a homeowner the freedom to add a pool. that doesn't make the pool the motivation for working hard and getting the raise. the motivation is money. in you pocket.

It's almost as if this festival is undertaken on a continual/annual basis for the purpose of making money, and not solely as a mechanism for spreading #vibes and #positivity and #billyjoel.

i wish they'd drop all that crap. it's nauseating. i wonder if they cant admit it to themselves. could the attendees be so brainwashed they can't see this?

If you want to see brainwashed, you should give the Bonnaroo subreddit a quick read. God forbid you have anything critical to say about Roo (the lineup, the infrastructure, etc.), it's like feeding yourself to the wolves. "Stop radiating negativity" or "post this negative crap elsewhere". I appreciate the idea behind the "radiate positivity" slogan, but the way people take it out of context is quite nauseating.
That's where you're wrong, Rory. If Capp Dogg really cared about making money, he'd put together a lineup people will actually pay to see.
Eh, it seems like no matter what they wind up drawing about 75-80k. Why bother with the extra expense when people will gladly pay for slightly above-average bookings?

My thoughts are that this was purely economic, but not just pure profit motive. I think that the extended pre-sale in 2014 probably points to some infrastructure investment, just thinking about tax considerations. Doesn't mean a better lineup next year, or screens on tents next year. It could be something as mundane as insurance issues, or new cash registers, depreciation on golf carts, or some sort of new leasing arrangement for practically anything.
Of course, I know nothing about the likely EPIC accounting that is required to make something like Bonnaroo work, or even when their fiscal year begins or ends. I just think that if you were solely interested in money, you could increase the price more gradually and accomplish the same effect without the sticker shock. Obviously they will probably raise the price a bit next year too, and the year after as well, but almost certainly not as much as this year or even close. So why not have two years of 30 dollars increase each, rather than one of 50 and one of say 10.
Please note, I am first and foremost trying to say, is that I actually don't know shit. But in my gut I imagine this was more of a long term decision rather than just whether they make more money in 2015 or have a better lineup in 2015. My heart says, it means at least screens on the stages, and perhaps something [relatively] special in 2016.
But again, I don't know anything. I am bored at work and rather than kill time taking a bathroom break, figured I'd piss all this out on here.
Who makes guacamole happen!?!? Does a tabloid like the University of Oklahoma student paper make guacamole happen or do ME AND YOU make it exist? Just cause they write about it doesn't make guacamole exist - ME AND YOU MAKE IT EXIST!
I encourage everyone to take the survey posted in your email receipt and in the comment section at the end let them know how you feel about the stark ticket prices increase. I simply said that Roo has always been a steal and an increase is merited, but I just hope that these increases were made predominately with the customer in mind and that we'll see the merits of the increases in the Bonnaroo experience.
AC has earned our money time and time again, but I hope this isn't simply "greed creep" and instead an investment in the festival experience itself.

Given my experience bonnaroo has a mediocre lineup and then a great lineup and then it repeats. 2013 was amazing, 2014 was okay. Obviously 2015 is going to have incredible artists justifying the price hike. I hope.
I just want to bring this thought up to the forefront. Lol remember that time, pre lineup drop, where people were speculating that 2015 would be "amazing" in contrast to 2014 which was just "okay?"
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

I am pretty new at the Roo experience, but from what I saw last year I would pay 500$ for time to do it again. The whole trouble of it is getting to the event for me haha, but yeah there are probably 20+ bands I would enjoy seeing as of now but on top of that being there people watching and seeing all the different groups is cool itself.
I think it matters more for the vets that the price is getting more expensive, but with higher turnouts they will continue to charge more because they want to profit! maybe that will mean more activities more facilities for people so that they are safer. (I saw a lot of people in the big medical tent when I went there...sad )) but most of all maybe they will be able to bring in more artist we all enjoy!

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but it looks like the "rorybbellows" account doesn't exist anymore for some reason so I can't privately address him. Still I want the community to know that I wasn't hiding from my bet. Not that anyone probably cares, but I did bet $100 that Blur would not be "the" nightly headliner at Coachella a couple years back. And it wasn't a fake bet, it was a bet that I intended to follow up on if I lost. If I remember the thread correctly, it turned out that the Stone Roses and Blur both got announced as "shared headliners" for one night that year. I asked what we were to do in that situation, since technically neither of us were 100% right/wrong. I didn't get a response back from him and the other posters shrugged it off as a draw. I don't use Inforoo that much anymore...I lurk and rarely log in. Now I log in and see a thread where I was "called out" for not paying up on this bet. I find it odd that it became an issue so far after the situation happened. Anyways there's my two cents, and I'm pretty sure 99% of you don't care, but I wanted to put it out there.
