Picked up a $100 pre-sale ticket this afternoon. I'm hoping for a decent amount of overlap with Pitchfork (and Forecastle?) since it's the same weekend.

oh man! I didn't think about the pitchfork overlap! good call.
I especially like the irony of the grammatically correct pluralized "Eaux Claires" (Clear Waters) as the festival name, given that its curator bastardized the actual French for "Good Winter."

Yeah, I'm nitpicking here.
When I frist heard about the festival I really wanted it to be named Bon Été. I still wish it was named that.

Meh. It's the most minnesotan thing I can think of. not going to get me there. I'll probably do pitchfork again.
I think its just so far and they will be announcing more. I cannot see a festival run by Dessner & Vernon not having The National, Bon Iver, or Volcano Choir headline. I mean if they have the first Bon Iver show in 3 years, potentially with new material, it could put the festival on the map. Plus if there is any chance of a collaboration I would lose my shiz. Just seeing Vernon come on for 2 minutes at the end of Slow Show at Primavera last year is probably one of the greatest musical moments of my life.

he collaborated with a good handful of these artists on a regular basis - marijuana deathsquads and s carey (who played with him iver on their last tour) - especially in minneapolis

It's basically all just justin vernons friends.
Oh woah thats awesome. Unfortunately I am unfamiliar with those artists and a couple of others on the bill, so looks like I'll have to get acquainted! (:

That's just the first phase. The full lineup is out on Wednesday.
And that's already better than the majority of the mind-numbingly boring fest lineups we've seen thus far this year. Blind Boys, Doomtree, Liturgy, Low, Melt Banana, Polica, Colin Stetson, S. Carey, Tallest Man on Earth would be a winning undercard at pretty much anything right now.

I'm just jaded because a lot of these acts play here quite often or have a hardcore MN/WI fanbase that has kind turned me off from them (doomtree, marijuana deathsquads, polica, haley bonar, s carey) which makes it uninteresting for me. it definitely is unique in comparison to other fests.
also I was at the bar when I read this and definitely only skimmed the article and was mislead by the title. haha
either way, personally just not my cup of tea/nothing there that I haven't already seen/need to see. (so far)
8:00AM tomorrow for rest of the lineup. I know in my head there's a like 3% chance Bon Iver plays, but here I am getting my hopes up.
I don't know, this is clearly a big deal to Justin Vernon. A festival he's personally curating would be the ideal spot for the first Bon Iver show in 3 years.

Wow. Was not expecting that many "big" names. I'm not much of a Sufjan guy, but him +Spoon/Bon Iver(!)/The National and a unique (if not ultra exciting) undercard is a coup for the pre-sale price.
