Okay, that video is amazing. I've only really just listened to Ben Harper on track, as nice background music to doing work or something. You have changed my perception of what it would be like to see him live. Two thumbs up.
The Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals Live From The Hollywood Bowl DVD is nice too. I'm glad he is back performing with this backng band. I do kinda wish he still had Marc Ford in the pocket ready to unleash a killer guitar solo. He wails on Amen Omen from that disc.
No, if Kendrick is indeed Friday, I think RTJ is a lock for LN because If RTJ didn't get a LN, they'd almost be guaranteed to close the Other Tent, but they wouldn't have RTJ overlap with Kendrick because they don't have a a lot of hip hop on the lineup, so it'd be idiotic to conflict the acts you do have. I personally think atmosphere will be LN as well.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
Probably, but I don't like thinking that way.... RTJ would be a much much better NL in my opinion. Will be very sad if they're robbed of it.
Don't fret about it. Roo knows what to do, they even gave Killer Mike the a late show in 2013 so I'm sure they won't mess this one up.
Oh man. Aside from McCartney (for obvious reasons) and The National (personal preference), Killer Mike was my favorite show of 2013...and I had no idea who he was before seeing him that night. I haven't listened to RTJ but probably will before June. Either way, I agree this will be LN and hopefully the schedule cooperates and I'll be there.

The conflicts will undoubtedly be bad, but that's unavoidable with Roo LN's. I am quite young but I will never forget the day I found out who Killer Mike was. He performed on the Chappelle Show back in the day (2nd season I believe.) And he stuck out to me so much because everybody always performed in the studio area with a DJ or backing band, but Killer Mike did his show by himself (except his partner at the time and Dave being with him) in the middle of a boxing ring and it was so raw and tough. I was only like 8, I think, when I saw that and I immediately knew and told myself, THIS is real rap, that gay, soft crap my classmates sing is wannabe hip hop. Killer Mike is the real deal." And from then on, I'd always watch live rap performances and I would only listen to stuff that had that same energy and authenticity that Mike has in that performance.
Definitely listen RTJ one and two. Just do yourself a favor, listen to Run the Jewels 1 first because it is great and you'll love it, but it pails in comparison to Run the Jewels 2.

Did your 8 year old self really think to itself "that gay, soft crap??" If so, concerning. Highly concerning.

That said. I can't wait for RTJJJJJ.
Yeah, I went to a school in the ghetto, surrounded by one of the toughest, most dangerous projects in our city. I guess you should be highly concerned
Anyone else think there's a better shot at Atmosphere getting late night than RTJ?
Who knows really? They both could get late afternoon sets for all we know. 2 weeks ago, everyone KNEW My Morning Jacket was gonna have an epic closing Late Night Set.
Personally, I think Run the Jewels would kill a Danny Brown/Death Grips slot. IMO those afternoon rap sets are always a lot more fun than the late nights.

Danny Brown was insane last year. I think I'd still prefer RTJ late-night this year, but you're right - throwing a tornado of a show into the middle of the afternoon is sneaky-fun.

I'm just saying there are some years I am shocked by the Late Night selections. For instance last year I was sure Chromeo and Cut Copy were getting LN sets or even A Tribe Called Red. Wasn't expecting Frank Ocean, Nick Cave, or the whole metal tent on Friday. 2013 couldve been Tame Impala, Holy Ghost, Kendrick, The National, or even Passion Pit and we ended up being shocked by Weird Al, Billy Idol , R Kelly, and ZZ Top. So really, anything is possible. This thread should actually start being more about what each band would bring to the table if they did play late night, like the Ben Harper discussion that started after I mentioned him as a possibility. If Atomic Bomb gets treated like a superjam this year, then you can probably guarantee that and the other superjam to both be ln acts, but other then that, we can only guess. Thats why the LN act release date is my favorite day!
I feel like Flying Lotus and SBTRKT are almost guaranteed for LN slots as well. And just slightly less likely than them is STS9
STS9 was one of the original play till the sun comes up bonnaroo acts. I think Particle did it first year, then STS9 the next year. In fact back then I think they still went by Sound Tribe Sector 9. I do hope they get late night, and I hope I have the energy to see most of the set.

Yeah, the only reason I consider SBTRKT and FlyLo more likely LN shows than STS9 is because sbtrkt got an afternoon slot last time and FlyLo didn't bring his stage setup last time so this time we will get "the full experience."
The only other slot that I could see STS9 is maybe Zedd's spot from last year. Or, although I know it won't happen, it'd be cool if bonnaroo was cool enough to give STS9 the closing LN Which spot.

I wonder if Roo would be willing to give STS9 a sunrise set on the Which? I think they would kill it, and their light show would be incredible on a bigger stage. They're 18th on the lineup, and have played a LN tent 3 or 4 times before, so I think it's possible, although not very likely.
I know it's unlikely, but a dream Which LN would be FlyLo > STS9. Would be a pretty sick 5-6 hours of lights and music.
Man, that was weird that we both said that at the same time. FlyLo into STS9 would be the best LN Which combo that they've had that I can think of. We MIGHT get one of those but I'm quite certain we won't get both, although it'd be amazing.

Oh yes, it's a pipe dream for sure. I think STS9 has a slim chance, and FlyLo virtually has no chance.
Whenever I've introduced FlyLo's music to people for the first time, most of them say it sounds like a jumbled up mess with just to much noise going on. I'm like "yeah, that cuz it's jazz, you mothas". I think that is why I love his music so much, it's jazz in an electronic/hip-hop form. But yeah, he is definitely an acquired taste.

There is no way that STS9 is not closing out a tent, I just can't imagine anything else.
They tell us "Rock'n'roll is the devil's music." Well, let's say we know that rock is the devil's music, and we know that it is, for sure … At least he fuckin' jams! If it's a choice between eternal Hell and good tunes, and eternal Heaven and New Kids on the fuckin' Block … I'm gonna be surfin' on the lake of fire, rockin' out.

Yeah, it's basically a guarantee, I just never consider anything a lock until the official schedule drops because we all know how insane roo can be with their scheduling
I've never seen STS9. but I'd be very happy to make my Star Tribe show a sunrise set at Roo.
Oh man, you've got to go to their show at roo man, you will absolutely LOVE it. I have never heard a single person say that they didn't like a STS9 show that they attended

Not sure if you're joking regarding "star tribe", but STS9 actually stands for "Sound Tribe Sector 9", but I think their actual name is just STS9 now, kind of like Kentucky Fried Chicken is just KFC.
