Saturday's lineup has nothing I'm interested in. I wish the Friday and Sunday breakdowns were on back-to-back days so I could make a two day trip out of this.
I'm digging it. Avett is NOT on sunday so I'm good. That Friday lineup with the flaming lips and pixies has me a little excited right now. BAND OF HORSES/FLOGGING MOLLY/AVETT ON SATURDAY!! Got to see dropkick murphy there last year... and now flogging molly this year!!
Usually they release the schedule the same day as lineup, any clue when the schedule is coming out? Friday is packed. Seems like most festivals go light on Saturdays because they know they just gotta rope you in on Friday and Sunday's.
I think I'm going to go to this. For $95, it's a steal even if I can see only three or four bands. The SO loves Paramore and Rise Against, and those are arena acts. And I'll never pass up a chance to see Diarrhea Planet again.
Talked with my bro's -- it's official. BRO TRIP TO BEALE STREET AGAIN THIS YEAR!! So excited!! I forgot all about the lineup coming out today lol I'm just in a really great mood now.
I do have one question... who in the world is this Five Finger Death Punch band and how are they getting a bigger showcasing on the announcement than Ryan Adams and Jenny Lewis? lol

I am excited for this lineup!
I've never really heard of them. According to Wikipedia, they are a groove metal band.

I know the name but can't place a song...... lol but you're right. That's odd???
Very solid drop but in any other year it would still be just a middle of the pack lineup for me. Some interesting inclusions but no real unicorns on there and a fair amount of mainstream acts I couldn't care less about seeing. However a value for money context BSMF absolutely can't be beat!

They are one of those terrible screaming/growling metal bands that my 45 year old former boss always told people he liked to seem edgy.
Where is Jerry Lee Lewis? He is an institution at the festival. Guess ppl got tired of watching a corpse play the piano and mumble.
Is he even decent live any more or has he gone the way of Bob Dylan? I haven't seen any performances after the time when he was shunned into obscurity for marrying his 13 year old cousin.

The value on this fest is incredible. I gotta try and swing this one year.
It really is. My brother and I have gone five of the last six years since 2009 (2010 was so bad I swore it off. That year the Mississippi flooded and cancelled half the fest, so the gods weren't digging it either).
And back then it was $65. They've gradually gone up, the same as every other fest, but they still remain the best value.
Kravitz, Lips, Pixies, Slash, Fogerty, P-Funk, Wilco and St. Vincent are easily worth $100.

New Orleans Jazz Fest stole him away this year. 2012 he didn't play due to illness, and they scored Little Richard as a replacement. Now that was a debacle.

How can New Orleans Jazz steal Jerry Lee and we can share Lenny, no complaints, but makes no sense.
At 80, I'm sure Jerry doesn't feel like playing two festivals in a week. Also, he probably resents the fact Beale Street had him opening before Bone Thugs N Harmony last year.
