Jerry Lee has played both Jazz Fest and Beale Street in the same year before. It may just be his age that he isn't doing both this time. I'm shocked at the $95 price, it's been around 4 years since I have been and it's still a good price but that's a steep raise.
I like five finger death punch. They are a generic hard rock band. The lead singer started out in nu metal minor leaguers Motograter.

Got tickets, booked flights, and booked a room. I wasn't planning on going this year but it's a very solid lineup for the price. Plus, i love Beale st and harbor town, so much fun. I'm thinking that they're making up for last years terrible line up.

Since they are playing the same day, it would be cool if Alejandro joined Ryan Adams for their old Whiskeytown collabo, "Excuse Me While I Break My Own Heart."
Anyone ever stay near the airport? I've always crashed with friends in midtown . but I'm thinking a motel might be my only option this year.
We stayed out almost in germantown last year lol all the hotels were booked when we finally decided to get a room. It wasn't that bad with the driving back and forth. Just meant we had to stay downtown longer and whoever was going to bitch out and forced to leave had to pay for the re-park later instead of splitting it lol

We stayed in Cordova in 2011 and that drive is not fun at 4am. Actually just found out this morning that we got a place in midtown to stay for free.

Like I said....all I've got is a ticket and a dream.
I know absolutely nothing else.
Except that I need someone to cry with at the Avetts.
So I need to figure out where to stay and transportation if it's gong to be anything else other than my feet.
Another option is putting myself up for festival adoption.
If you don't have a car, you'll need to stay as close as possible to beale street for walking back and forth to the festival. Anywhere outside the immediate area and you may need to drive. I haven't booked a room yet but so I dont even know where I'm staying... but I think hotel.com has free bookings you can cancel anytime.

I wonder if I could check a bike on a plane.
Keep me updated about your hotel. I'd like to be around familiar humans if at all possible. And in my experience Inforoo does a festival better than anyone else.

I'll look this weekend -- we got a few extra people going this year than last so we will need additional rooms. But cool! And I'll cry at avett bros with you.
Also, last year I know I saw Dana, Cleo, Patrick and his wife there... not sure if they will be back this year??

Awesome. It'll all come together. And if not.....it wouldn't be the first time a wink and a smile with a few jokes have gained me shelter from a complete stranger before.

Hotels in West Memphis, AR just across the bridge are considerably cheaper than anywhere in downtown Memphis. I booked mine for about $50/night. And it's only about a $5 Uber ride to and from the fest.
Well....hopefully drunk me can do some research for me tonight because I almost never pay for someone else to drive me around and I NEVER pay for a parking spot.

That's what I have legs for.
but this is the south... we are obsess bc our cities arent set up for people to *actually* walk places. I'm joking, but not really. Keep that in mind. While memphis is a bigger city, hotels and such aren't always as close as you'd think.
I would not recommend walking in Memphis at night unless you have a hotel close to Beale Street. Memphis is a good place, but it has one of the worst crime rates in the South. It's poorly lit, too, unless your hotel is very close to Beale.
It's also going to be almost impossible to get free parking that weekend. You will likely either have to park in a parking garage (several are available), uber, or find some place you can catch a bus.
I would definitely recommend to book a hotel ASAP - most are already taken in the area. West Arkansas or Southaven would be the best suggestions I would offer for a hotel.
