OK with some of that lineup. I really like Chris Cornell. But, just sticking Kacey Musgraves on their doesn't fill the bill for me. 2015 was a pretty weak lineup for folks like me who prefer performers like Tom Petty, KOL, OCMS, Amos Lee, Jason Isbell, Blackberry Smoke, Warren Haynes, and others. Drive by Truckers and ZBB were the only two groups that were close. I am hoping for a little more representation from that side of the musical spectrum. Tedeschi Trucks would be a great add. Ditto Sturgill Simpson. Rubber Knife Gang would be pretty cool. The Boom Boom tent is pretty much dedicated to Boom Boom. Maybe it is time to dedicate a southern jam/folk/country/bluegrass stage.

Bob, have you listened to the bluegrass band The Steeldrivers before? I recommend starting with their self-titled CD and listening to the whole thing. Their newest CD was recorded in Muscle Shoals and features Jason Isbell on one of the songs. I love that band. I think you would like them too.
Afterparty held by Robert DeLong, DJ Windows 98, Wooden Wisdon (Elijah Wood and Zach Cowie DJ Dup), Weird Al and Har Mar Superstar feauturing the Pizza Underground.
While I think the pre-party is extreme (and I made it that way on purpose) I don't think my actual fest lineup is that off.
I believe in your line-up! They had lotus and umph, reptar, conspirator and st paul and a few other goodies once. Last pre party had to be thier lousiest. Maybe Goldenvoice will phase it out and turn this into a 4 day like it should be.
Matt - definitely will give them a listen. There are a few really good bluegrass bands and a lot that just copy someone else. Cmack - I'm all for a four day hangout. I do not think the contract will allow it. I think the pre-party is a way to make extra cash and get around some rules. If they do go to 4 day, I would expand the time allocated to the musicians based on how long they wanted to play. Some just do not have the material. I would balance the genres playing a little better. Rock, alternative, country, folk-Americana, dance, and even add some contemporary Christian music on Sundays. If you have not listened to Caedman's Call, you are missing one of my favorite bands. I give props to Bonnaroo for doing a better job of a) promoting all different kinds and sorts of music and b) allowing performers to play 3-4 hours in the wee hours of the morning. Hangout is learning. I just think they took a step backwards this year in too many ways including having Foos and ZBB headline again. Too many great headliners to repeat. I would love to see a couple classic rock bands play and they do not charge a lot. Steve Miller, Doobie Brothers, Santana, Fleetwood Mac, Pat Benetar...dang...what a show that would be. Hangout does a great job of pulling the up and comers in at lowest cost when they are cheap. We are getting excellent musicians for the price of a ticket. Again, if it ain't broke don't fix it. I know there is a significant number of Hangout-goers who are Skril-dog-boom boomers...cool. But please do not make this event a won genre dominating show.

I agree Bob. I think they'd benefit in ticket sales if they incorporated 2 or 3 classic acts for early evening sets. Can you imagine Talking Heads or Elvis Costello on the beach?

While I agree that there should be some classic rock acts you basically covered the spectrum of them while saying they dont charge a lot. Steve Miller probably gets about 40k a show if that. He plays free shows in my area all the time. There are a lot of bands in this level That woulf make a good mid afternoon act. Santana is headlining hippie fests still and is in the 200-400k range and Fleetwood is easily 600k plus. They would headline any fest they play.

Some suggestions for classic acts. I don't think many of these would be that expensive, although a couple could be.
James Taylor Cat Stevens Peter Gabriel Van Morrison Mark Knopfler Lyle Lovett Television Duran Duran Lionel Richie Bob Seger Duane Allman Jimmy Paige Dr. John Huey Lewis & the News Blondie Cheap Trick Joan Baez
I keep thinking of a comedy tent....but I have enough trouble as it is seeing ehat I want to see. Beach Bob, Im sure the 4 day fest is out of the picture. The locals probabaly don't want to deal with it for that many days. Meh, do you not want a booming economy and business?

Not happening. The Talking Heads are not getting back together.

Lionel Richie and Bob Seger would be amazing to see next year. Lionel's Bonnaroo set was a top 10 set for me.
ZZ Top. They're affordable, around 25-35K, and they're a really good live band.
The way their tour dates fit around this year's fest I was sure they were going to book them. It is a fun live show and everyone knows at least 75% of their hits. Id love it.

The biggest issue with Coldplay when it comes to this fest is if we got them, they'd be a pricey booking too. Money that could be spent better elsewhere. Also where is the Raconteurs talk coming from? I'm down for sure but is JW working with them again?

For sure Nate would be much much much lower. Just look at him on ACL lineuo poster. Also I don't see ROBERT Delong getting booked three years in a row..

Also muse had people working the hangout festival this year giving out those white muse drones beach balls. I'd say we have a good shot at them being there in 2016

ha! Good eye my friend.
I would love most of those...Gabriel and Van would be the priciest imo. I'm surprised Cat didn't do a fest or two this year, but he does what he wants.

I was counting on him doing a couple. What a selfish jerk. haha
