While I agree that's a little heavy for hangout fest I would say that Vampire weekend is really a headliner to me.
But they did announce our headliners this year where
Foo, beck, skrillex, ZBB and then they added Sam and said he was a headliner too. So that is technically 5
Don't you feel like the headliners for 2015 are Foo Fighters, Zac Brown Band and Beck? The Sam Smith thing was booked before he won fifty grammys and then they moved his name up the list, which was weird but makes sense for Hangout's demo. Jack Johnson wasn't a headliner last year, though many thought he was going to be one of the top three names (The Black Keys came out of nowhere).
The only debatable co-headlining thing I've seen this year is Kendrick/Deadmau5. Though Kendrick has the traditional timeslot, he is only unopposed for 15 minutes and Mau5 has been moved ahead of him on the poster.
I feel like ninety-five times out of a hundred at the larger fests, there is just one headliner a day.
I consider Sam Smith a headliner because the guy is #2 on the lineup. Anyone on the top line is a headliner.
Jack Johnson: headliner.
And yes, my lineup is top heavy, as is almost everyone's in these mocks because THIS IS THE HANGOUT THREAD.

From the mouth of babes. Idk hangout says differantly.
th returning festival headliners Zac Brown Band and Foo Fighters atop the bill, too, there's almost an embarrassment of riches at the top of this year's poster. Traditionally, festival headliners have been considered the acts that play the main stage at the end of each night, but O'Connell said that philosophy has become more fluid.
PENSACOLA NEWS JOURNAL Analysis: Get over the déjà vu and get into Hangout 2015
"Sam Smith is going to play that awesome sunset slot," he said, speaking of a late-evening time slot on the second stage that was occupied last year by popular singer-songwriter Jack Johnson. "We no longer look at headliners as to whether they're going to play the east or west beach stage, they can play either. But where would you want to hear those songs? At sunset." Similarly, EDM star Skrillex will play one of the festival's beach stages rather than its Boom Boom Tent, which specializes mainly in electronic, dance and hip-hop music.

[br Also your argument is flawed, just look at ACL who books six headlienrs and they all compete each night. So no, headliners don't just play the last unopposed slot of the day. it's just typical.
ACL had Eminem, Outkast and Pearl Jam as headliners last year, right? They played the main stage last, yeah? I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree, which is perfectly fine.
Um no. It was Friday outkast vs beck Saturday: eminem vs Skrillex and Sunday calvin Harris vs pearl jam
Yeah, like I said, we can agree to disagree. I see headliners as the acts that close down the main stage each night. Call me crazy. You win.
EDIT: And you're going on the naughty list for 2016, too.
my point is what is considered the main stage at ACL? honda or samsung? both are the same size, but by your logic Outkast wasn't a headliner due to them no playing the same stage as Pearl Jam and Eminem.

...95 times out of 100 my man. I didn't realize that the stages at ACL were exactly the same size. For festivals that do have one stage that is the main stage, the headliners are the last ones to close it down most of the time (with exceptions for electronic acts/late night types on occasion, see Coachella and Bonnaroo this year). I know that Lollapalooza has more headliners than the average fest, and evidently ACL does too. But closing the Chevy stage doesn't mean you're a headliner at Hangout. It's just a clever marketing phrase to get folks excited. By this logic, My Morning Jacket and Skrillex are headlining too. So Hangout has six headliners whereas the lowly Coachella had but three this year.

If I have to be realistic I want some cheesy nostalgia sing alongs. Give me something that hasn't been everywhere like Green Day, Aerosmith, or Guns N Roses lite. It will be fun and fits their pattern. If I can hope for something not as realistic lets get The Cure, Roger Waters, or Prince. Prince on a beach would be fun. I would like that.
I'm serious when I say this- I would love Aerosmith on the beach as an old school headliner. Complete cheese sing a longs but I grew up listening to them and everyone knows their hits. I would have an infinitely better time at their set than I did at Stevie's.

Aerosmith would definitely be different and separate Hangout from other fests, offering something different. It would be risky; but hey, no risk = no reward.
Pearl Jam | Muse | Aerosmith | Florence + The Machine Alabama Shakes | Bassnectar | The Flaming Lips | Tame Impala
That looks almost spot on Krisp but I don't see Arcade Fire touring next year so replace them with Mumford and that would be my safe realistic prediction for next year.

yea i just threw em on there cause of win playing this year maybe they can butter him up for 2016 and with mumford it would really be a copy of roo minus joel
Ya that's true. they wouldn't do that. Even if we don't necessarily love the headliners, Hangout does do a good job of getting headliners that aren't festival whores all over the place that given year. Like sure TBK and The Killers hvae played fests a ton but they didn't play vitually any in the US last year. They usually have a couple surprises up their sleeve that we don't even think about. Whether we like the surprises or not is a diff story though...
