Toyota tent? I never even heard of that. Is that vip/loa or just for anyone? That's got 6 acts I was going to see anyway (Frank Turner, TJF, Babes, Wax Motif, Fishbone, Fantastic Negrito and maybe Ludlowe Thieves)
They have had the Toyota tent for years. It was one of the things I bitched about them getting rid of last year. They do the free screen printing of the bandanas and posters. They have had little crafty shit you can do in the past, and then they have the little side stage. It has always been one of my favorite things about Voodoo. This is what I was so excited about being announced about coming back.
The stage is tiny and there is never a ton of people watching so it is great to see a broken down version of the acts you might not be able to see.
It's rain. I'm trying to figure out if I want to go buy a new pair of converses since I can just wash them if they get destroyed. I hate shrimp boots and the way they feel, so I'm not going that route. My thing is that I don't really care about Friday or Sunday since I won't be in costume. I'll just wear shorts or jeans and a raincoat. It's Saturday that matters most to me due to costume. So if the chances and precipitation totals are going down for Saturday, that's what I want to hear. Btw, are you just using modeling data or do you have a G3 radar program that plots out the potential precip? --------------------------------

I printed out the Spin/Toyota schedule and put it in my wallet for stops by there. Problem is the conflicts for the mini-sets I otherwise would see. For instance
Friday - 3:00 Frank Turner conflicts with Hundred Waters (230-330) Friday - 5:30 Joy Formidable conflicts with Frank Turner on the Flambeau Stage
Saturday - 4:00 Babes in Toyland is between Fantastic Negrito and Terence Blanchard & E Collective However, Saturday's schedule is still messed up on the App, so it might be something I can work in
Sunday - 1:30 Fishbone - I'm actually free for that, so I'll probably stop by to see them Sunday - 2:00 Fantastic Negrito conflicts with Quickie Mart Sunday - 3:00 The Ludlow Thieves - I will probably try to stop by for this since it's unlikely that I will catch their 11:15 set
So I can't work in everything I would have liked to see in that type of small/intimate staging, but at least I'll catch a couple of sets or partial sets.

I have a sweet pair of black hiking boots. That's the way to go. Still stylin' but won't get destroyed or get your feet wet.
I've just been using Accuweather's projections. I'm in the same boat that Saturday is really the only day I care about. It can rain all it wants on Sunday if it's clear on Saturday.

Jeremy just got called offshore. The day before my birthday and two before Voodoo. Costume is totally out if I didn't think it was before due to the fact it was a couples costume. I am crazy stupid sad and even though I have friends going I will be once again on my own at Voodoo. This has totally bummed me out.
Glad to hear about the weather. I just checked Weather.com a few mins ago and it is like "100% chance of thunderstorms all day Saturday!". They generally suck. I'm just gonna be optimisitc and ready to rage.
Damn that sucks Vieux! My consolation prize is that I'm coming to the House of Shock meet up.
Presale Code for Cookie Monsta on Thursday night kickoff is CISFORCOOKIE
Presale today only is $10 for GA and $20 for VIP; advance is $15/25. Door will probably be $20-25. Fists, you should jump on this if your crowd are dubstep fans since there really aren't many other dub acts that weekend, much less any hard dub.
Just got mine @ VIP which came to $24.72 for the print at home option.
Will be meeting Jabco at Tauk earlier that night at Howlin Wolf. That's only $12.00.

Is VIP worth it? There's zero point in asking my group to buy tickets ahead of time at this point, but I may just buy us 4 GA tickets for $50. It's right by the casino right? That'd be a perfect Thur night.

YAY consolation prize!!! I am so happy you are coming!!! We are meeting at 7pm and I will be wearing a birthday cake hat.

Not necessarily. It basically gets you upstairs which is usually (but not always) less crowded. They have bottle service areas, but f that. It's actually about 8 blocks west of the Casino (there is a walk/promenade street a block over called "Fulton Place" which is a nice way back to the Casino and has bars. It's also a block or so from Howlin' Wolf which is doing the Tauk show tomorrow which I'm also going to.
Oh and Postjack, here's the stream schedule if you like any of it (streaming on Yahoo). It doesn't necessarily coincide with the actual schedule, and I think the times are off based on who is playing and when (unless they link you into the stream early), for instance Modest Mouse playing at 7:45 but showing a stream time of 6:15. They'll get that fixed at some point (could also be in PDT but NOLA should have caught that).
•Florence and the Machine: Friday at 8:30 p.m. •Modest Mouse: Friday at 6:15 p.m. •Steve Angello: Saturday at 8:30p.m. •Duke Dumont: Saturday at 7:05 p.m. •Third Eye Blind: Sunday at 6:15 p.m. •deadmau5: Sunday at 6:30 p.m. •Jane's Addiction: Sunday at 6:45 p.m.
Weather looks excellent for Friday per GFS and NAM. Nam pus a hardcore squall line with a front on Saturday. GFS has the bulk of the rain West and East of here but is slower. It pus about 1-1.25" down between 63 and 72 hours from 7pm tonight. So that's between 10 am and 7 pm then there is some lingering drizzle through the evening. Not good for costuming, but it's whatever. hopefully maybe they only temporarily suspend a few sets in the afternoon if it gets bad, and I still get to see Clutch/Babes/Jane's/Ozzy. Fingers are upside down crossed.
Shout out to Festival Snob for the ticket to Bob Moses tonight. I got about 1:10 in before having to head to bed. Solid show as expected in one of the divest bars in town. on a personal note, great meeting you snob and we will run into you this weekend.
Tomorrow is Tauk then Cookie Monsta. Voodoo is off to a good start and should accelerate tomorrow. I'm off Friday and Monday, so it's on. See all you mfs this weekend.
So pumped for this weekend! I have a feeling the rain ain't gonna be as bad as we're expecting.
As long as Babes>Jane's>Ozzy still play as planned I can deal with being soaked. Just don't want lightning evacuations etc
Got some bball shoes at Goodwill for $5 yesterday and spraypainted em gold. Shit is tight. I'm gonna be Billy Gibbons tomorrow, Zombie Raggedy Andy on Halloween and Warriors on Sunday.
Right on Sarge. Me and Jabco are going to Tauk at Howlin' Wolf tonight. I'm not sure if you're coming in town today or tomorrow or if you and the old lady have plans, but we're hitting that. I've got my ticket for the Dub show after, but I know you aren't going to be at that. Looking for a 3-4am night tonight, sleeping late tomorrow, and then hitting up the Fest all day and maybe (slight crack in the door) going to Funk Sabbath.
I'm going to the House of Shock tonight, my gf has never been. Bonus of meeting up with Vieux for her bday. She wants to stay in tonight so we can watch The Shining and bake Halloween cookies, as well as conserve energy since we're doing fest>Funk Sabbath Friday. Def sleeping late as fuck Sunday while she's at work.
We watched the Shining miniseries last weekend and it was wayyyyy better than I remembered it.
So 12Z (7am) GFS is out. Once you get within 4 days, it's usually pretty good at sniffing things out. Having said that, this model's interpretation of the weather is as follows:
24 hours (7am today to 7am tomorrow) = 0 rain 48 hours (7am today to 7am Saturday) = 0 rain (possibly a trace, but essentially none) 60 hours (7am today to 7pm Saturday) = 1/2 to 3/4" of rain 66 hours (7am today to 1am Sunday) = 3/4 to 1" of rain 72 hours (7am today to 7am Sunday) = 1 1/4 to 1 1/2" of rain 84 hours (7am today to 7pm Sunday) = 1 1/2 to 1 3/4" of rain
So to me, it looks like it rains pretty hard Saturday day as the front moves by and a low forms near, then the front moves through with some rain behind it. Kinda shitty. Since there is a front, there is probably a fairly good chance of it having lightning. Front looks to come through Saturday day around the 60 hour mark (Saturday evening). I will say that most of the local parishes (counties) are rescheduling trick or treating to tomorrow night. There isn't shit you can do about the weather but deal with it, but hopefully Voodoo won't be cancelled on Saturday since that's, by far, the best day for me. fn rain.
From NOLA:
Heavy rainfall, with accumulations of 1 to 4 inches, accompanied by severe thunderstorms, damaging winds and a chance of a tornado or two, will usher in Halloween in southeastern Louisiana and southern Mississippi on Saturday afternoon and evening, forecasters with the Slidell office of the National Weather Service said Thursday (Oct. 29).
The severe weather potential has prompted many localities to urge youngsters to trick or treat on Friday evening.
Check out our Guide to Halloween in New Orleans. Keep in mind that some events might be canceled, postponed or moved to different dates due to the weather.
Blame the expected bad weather on an upper-level trough of low pressure that is getting stronger as it drops into the desert Southwest on Thursday, meteorologists said in a Thursday morning forecast discussion message.
"This trough will push another cold front toward the area," the message said. "But as the bulk of the upper level energy lifts northeastward, the southern stream lags behind and the surface front elongatges as it approaches the area.
"This results in a slower forward movement and messy weather for the local area this weekend," the message said.
By Friday, this system will be dragging moisture-rich air out of the Gulf of Mexico onshore, leading to "very efficient rainfall rates" during thunderstorms that will develop by Saturday afternoon.
Between 1 and 4 inches of rain will fall, mostly between 7 a.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. Sunday. But even though initial rainfall estimates are lower than last week's record-breaking rain rates, locally higher amounts are possible.
"Also need to consider that with some areas having received 8 to 10 inches of rain within the last week, the ground cannot hold nearly as much water as last week's system," the message said. As a result, flash flood warnings are not out of the question on Saturday and Sunday.
Some of the rainfall-making storms also could be severe, with a chance that an isolated tornado or two may form, with the strongest storms likely on Saturday afternoon and evening.
Meanwhile, last week's delivery of at least 4 inches of rain to southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi resulted in Baton Rouge experiencing its third wettest October on record, and New Orleans experiencing its fourth wettest October on record.
