If Faith No More and Modest Mouse are pre-headliners, I wouldn't be really that upset over Green Day and ZBB as long as Sabbath is the other.
I am with this 100%!! I would take Green Day and ZBB IF we got FNM and Modest. I would be over the moon happy actually. Besides, Faith No More is touring and NOLA isn't on the tour.
A little off topic but Im debating between Voodoo and Hulaween at The Spirit of the Suwannee two way differebt atmospheres
Yeah, we would go to Hulaween in a heartbeat if it wasn't the same weekend as Voodoo. But Voodoo is literally 10 blocks from my house, and there's no way I'm not going. I'd consider doing both if they fell on successive weekends. Big thing for me on Voodoo is that Riot Fest really opened the floodgates of acts I'd like to see in the fall if possible. ACL doesn't have much crossover, but there's a shot Voodoo might get some or a few of Ice Cube & Friends, Echo and the Bunnymen (80's act), Tenacious D, Iggy Pop, Snoop, Motorhead, Cypress Hill, De La Soul, Airborne Toxic, Death ( \m/ ) or whatever.
That's right. I didn't get over there last year for the headliners (except a 5 minute stop in for Skrillex & Pretty Lights) because it was Outkast vs. Zedd; Artic Monkeys vs. Skrillex and Foo Fighters vs. Pretty Lights. But they ran those sets vs. headliners which kind of keeps the population of the crowds at the main stage and Le Plur Stage relatively in check. That stage is now promoted by Live Nation subsidiary "Hard" which brought in some fairly big talent on the downcard last year (Barely Alive, Thomas Gold, Flux, Fedde Le Grand, Pete Tong, etc.).
We did split Bassnectar, The Cure & Dr. John in 2013, but I missed Le Plur headliner on Saturday because I wasn't missing Nine Inch Nails for Afrojack (hit Big G then NiN). On Friday, Pearl Jam played only vs. Glen David Andrews as Calvin Harris ended right before Pearl Jam came on, so they didn't conflict that set.
But if they stick with the 2014 format wherein you have a rock/rap act on the main stage and then the EDM headliner on the EDM stage, I think that makes the most sense. They even had one or two minor stage sets (e.g. London Souls, JD & The Straight Shot, Big Freedia) conflict the headliners.
I'm still wondering what they do this year since Calvin Harris, Bassnectar, Skrillex, Pretty Lights and Afrojack have all played in the last 2 years. I'm seriously hoping they don't bring in that Euro-house crapola or even Deadmau5 (who while slightly better for my tastes, his mix tapes are fine, live is boring to me).

I have never made it over to the new Le Plur setup, since Voodoo has moved. Nobody I have wanted to see has played there yet, and between the kids and the fact I am not big into the EDM scene I have had no reason. I wish that Pretty Lights would have pulled more people away from the Foo Fighters though, because it was fucking nuts at FF. I actually ended up leaving early, since I had seen them that year at the preservation hall thing they did and my girl was in town.
Last year was a better setup than the first year at that location, even without the Toyota tents (breaks my heart). The sound bleed wasn't horrible, except on the Carnival stage. The main stage's music is just directed right at it.
I have high hopes for the lineup this year. Hopefully we get some good shit.

Not a fan of Mau5 huh. Kaskade could be a possibility? He was in New Orleans for Buku last year I believe but not since.
Edit- Hope its not Aoki. If I end up with Aoki at both festivals I attend this year I'll throw myself in front of a train.

I saw more stuff there in 2013 than I did last year. Though last year, I did catch Barely Alive, GRiZ (who was great), Herobust, Manic Focus, and some pieces parts of other stuff. There were just too many good bands to spend too much time over there last year. But no way I was missing Barely Alive or GRiZ.

I haven't seen him. I tried to watch a couple of sets, and I found them to be lacking (for lack of a better term). I rather people that go hard. But then I heard some of his mixtapes which were actually pretty decent. I guess I'll have to see for myself. I don't remember if I caught Kaskade at Buku or not - think it was a conflict that year. But I saw some of the show at ACL in 2013, and it was good enough. As for Aoki, I saw the second half of his set at Hangout 2013, and it was okay if not great. My favorite DJ set that year at Hangout was Porter Robinson. But I guess since Buku just did the Porter Live set to close Saturday, we'll probably not get him again (noting that Buku and Voodoo will occasionally have a repeat).
Chris Cornell just announced his solo tour. He's playing Florida Friday and Texas Sunday and Monday. I'm hoping it's not a coincidence there's no Saturday date and he stops in New Orleans for a nice Halloween afternoon acoustic set.
^^ Nice find! Would obviously prefer Soundgarden over Chris solo, but after that glorious Hangout solo set I'm more than down for another one.
Would be a great afternoon set before Faith No More or Black Sabbath =)
Anybody know when we are getting a lineup? I had an email a month ago that said the date but I can't find anything on it now. Feel like it is this week.
The one I got only said lineup was coming out in June. It was around Bonnaroo last year (June 12, 2014) and was April 15 they released the first "15 for year 15" in 2013. So it should be soon. Cornell playing would automatically be Top 5 shows for me this year. I'd also prefer Soundgarden, but I think that was a one-time shot.

They used to always announce the lineup on that Saint day or whatever, it was like June 22nd or something. It has been wacky and inconsistent since that day by day lineup release thing they did in 2010.

That 2010 release was the worst shit ever. "We're going to release insignificant bottom line artists........one at a time!!" Once I knew Ozzy was playing I was very stoked though.
I have a great feeling about this years lineup. Let's hope EDM doesn't cockblock rocknroll too much.

I think they're both part of the festival to stay. Clearly with the Hard/Le Plur side of things, a lot of kids don't even leave that area all weekend. If it sells more tickets and keeps the festival viable for the long term, I'm okay with it as inevitably I will go to some of those sets. But with all the cool, random shit showing up on Fun Fun Fun and Riot Fest, there is going to be a lot to pick from in rap and rock that could be to my liking. I still don't have a clue as to the headliners except for the hints we got earlier. I also think Voodoo will either trump a next year's festival headliner (such as what they did with Foo Fighters last year) or might bring in something random such as the Black Sabbath final show or Van Halen. But I really don't know. No one seems to have much info around town at this point. Rumors ought to start cropping up in the few days since we're at most 2-3 weeks to the announcement.
I mean, I'm fine with tons of EDM as long as they don't blow the budget on it. $500K for some dildo on a macbook is a lot of legit bands that aren't getting booked.
Black Sabbath / Tool / The Prodigy / Faith No More
I can dream, right? I hope they book Dean Ween, that would be excellent.

No SG as PJ starts their South American tour in early November which means Matt Cameron will be busy plus I doubt Chris would do a SG show in the middle of his own tour. Maybe a PJ warm up show at Voodoo with a TOTD reunion? Now that would be nice.
Yeah but since Pearl Jam headlined in 2013, I don't think we see them again at Voodoo for 4-5 years. Soundgarden last played 2011 and while Voodoo always loves 90s Rock I don't think we will get them again. There are a lot of possibilities that could be great. There are a lot that could be mediocre (Green Day, RHCP). I don't know. All I do know is there will be probably 20-30 acts I want to see as always.
Yea, there's always a ton of acts I want to see. Speaking of which, I would really go for Alice in Chains being on this lineup. Just watched Unplugged for the first time this millennium yesterday and had forgotten how great they were. Saw themin '07 opening for Velvet Revolver at Bayfest and they killed it with the new singer, guy sounds just like Layne Staley, except he isn't smacked out and flubbing lyrics.
Plus it's the best holida in the best city in the world, you can't go wrong.
This will be my 11th Voodoo, and my 9th in a row. Really regret missing '01 and '04-'06!
'01- Got hustled into skipping Tool to go see a friends band and he ended up blacked out and they had to cancel. Epic fail. '04- Low on funds, low on motivation '05- Wanted to go but after Katrina they stopped selling tix and made it a first responders and "ppl that already had tix" event. Still could have found one I'm sure, wasn't confident enough to drive two hours without being sure back then. '06- No excuse here. Just wasn't on my radar. Hate that I missed the Meters on stage with Frucsiante RHCP ...

anybody heard anything at all? This is getting ridiculous!
So, Prodigy can def be ruled out, they'll be in Northern Europe during Voodoo. They could feasibly do every Riot Fest date though. Why are they never booked at US Festivals? Are the EDM kids here such pussies that they couldn't get into them?
