Im pretty lame, thats why I'm going.
For the lodging question, airbnb is sold out for full unit rentals. Im staying at Motel 8 for roughly $179 a night. If i recall correct, rates dropped a little as it got closer last year. I stayed at La Quinta last year and it wasnt half bad, very close to the shuttle. Clearly Im not a Four Seasons guy, i treat the place more like a crash pad than anything.
Last year I want to say I got a place for like $100/night-ish? Maybe a bit more. It was around $350-400 for 3 nights. I stayed at the Orangewood Suites I believe it was called and it had a full kitchen. It was great to have the option to get a digorno pizza or pizza rolls at the end of the night if we wanted. And we had a full sized fridge for all zee beeer. It was kinda far though. I wanna say ubers were like $12-20 each way? I don't remember because I don't think I paid for any of them. We also each had a free ride voucher, so that helped.
Whoever is needing a place for weekend one, msg me. I live in southeast austin about a 10 min drive from the fest. I should have a room available.
What are you doing Weekend 2? Also, you give any thought to Voodoo? You can certainly have couch, recliner, extra bed, air mattress floor space or whatever. We usually end up with a bunch of people crashing over, but the apartment is big and a 10 block walk to Voodoo. Plus all the family likes you anyway. My people in ATX are like Manchaca and Slaughter. No way to walk that far. Also not sure if I'm going to keep the ticket or not (daughter wants to go), especially with Phases around that time. We had a friend over last night who just did Waka into Bonnarok and is about to hit Electric Forest and Camp Bisco. Wish I had all that free time...

Do you have tickets to Voodoo already and just need a landing pad?

Yea I went ahead and scooped two on the presale will call. Waiting to hear back from a family friend (the one that owns the American sports saloon bar) if I can stay with them but they just loved into a new house and don't want to intrude on em.

Well if it falls through let me know. I am not sure if I will be moved by then or not, if so I will have a couple rooms, BUT I am on the westbank in Algiers.

Uh you're awesome! I will for sure let you know. Thank you so much for the invite! We can go crazy at DUKE DUMONT!
Krisp - I may do weekend two because my friend is coming down to go. Most likely, just a day pass. As it gets closer, and especially once the schedules are released I will consider weekend one. I will definitely be eyeing up the after parties. Grouplove/Mowglis 3 years ago was incredible at Emos. Luckily, I saw them before Sunday was rained out.
Voodoo I am still thinking about. I just quit my full time job and will be working "PRN" or "as needed." I actaully will make more a lot more hourly but I have to pick and choose shifts as they come. Being financial cautious will be the name of the game for a month or two to see how this plays out. The endgoal is to make room for school and have the ability to schedule trips to music, comedy, improv fests, workshops, intensives, ect. MORE FUN LESS WORK.
Anybody know of good New Year's Eve music parties? I know Dallas has a pretty nice EDM NYE Bash but I'd like something more mixed.
Also, Krisp, sad to hear FFF doesn't catch your vibe. I think you side with a lot of EDM and the only act I can think of on FFF lineup is Odesza who I am up and down about. Im pumped about FFFF though. Maybe wait until the Night shows are released which usually brings out the EDM. MSTRKRFT was sick and Id hope he comes back.

Haven't heard of anything else yet as far as New Years party's other then lights all night in dallas. We did it last year it was fun but lots of fucked up people ttherow
Decadence Fest in Denver is great if you like edm. They also had 4 nights of STS9 and 3 days of SCI nearby. Bass Lights in VA is around then and certainly Bassnectar 360 in Nashville is always giant.
If anyone knows someone selling a weekend one pass or where the best place to look for someone selling one let me know. I know nothing about acl other than I want to go. Lol

The sell like hotcakes outside of the festival grounds. I am too nervous to do that sort of thing, but they will register it right there after you purchase it also.

Damn. I'm sure I could do it but I'm a little too afraid to risk that flying from Ohio and all without a ticket.

Yeah, all my friends that live in Austin do that and tell me to just come over and buy one there. Maybe if I lived there or didn't care about actually going and just wanted to see my friends, I would take that chance.

I went to Austin during ACL one year for just the aftershows. I did hang out at Barton Springs pool during the day and could hear some bands fron there. I know not everyone does the late nights at ACL, but if some interest you this year, I might suggest getting tickets for those and coming to Austin and seeing how getting a wristband works out.
