It almost feels like a waste for them to show up JUST for an hour and a half.
Can we get a surprise Carl solo set? Or maybe let them lead a 4 hour parade?
I agree, but the word was they have somewhere to be afterwards and have to leave right after their set. They have a few days until their next show but who knows. It could all be BS too
Word on the street is that Bonnaroo made the 45 minute breaks between sets this year to allow Jim James to randomly pop into any tent at any time to play a few acoustic songs while stages are being set up.

Jim James or not, this would be a great idea during Bonnaroo the whole time. Acoustic performances and small dj setups during set changes would be really cool throughout the day everywhere, unscheduled. Some random people not even on the lineup could show up easily and do 30 min sets, even collaborations.

This Wednesday too early for the Superjam announcement? Not many more Wednesday announcement ideas left I would think, and they've been doing everything else early. Maybe this Wednesday will be an initial announcement with Guests announced soon added, like they did with Skrillex last year. For instance Wednesday we may get Jim James and Friends or Flying Lotus's Superjam with Special Guests.

anything would be better than the songs played over the P.A between sets

Silent Disco and maybe Kalliope announcements still pending.

Yeah, I keep forgetting about the Silent Disco. It would be cool if they actually spice that up this year a little.
Can you imagine the pressure involved in taking the responsibility to organize and curate the Superjam? Everyone tends to overlook that fact. Regardless if you like that musician or not, that person has put weeks and possibly months on the line finding artists, building a collective, and gambling on those artists, which in itself is insane. To essentially build a band of notable musicians and have your first show be fucking the Bonnaroo Superjam... Wow. I have no point, just flabbergasted at the sheer volume of pressure and responsibility. Fucking Superjam eh. Fucking eh!

I agree, I can't even get together with my unemployed buddy to play a couple songs. Can't even imagine the royal clusterfuck putting together a superjam must become

Except logistically this would be a nightmare fer the sound and stage crew. Sure, sounds like a lot of fun and would be cool. As an idea. The execution fer those actually workin' would suck balls. And not in a fun way.

Except logistically this would be a nightmare to have to physically shave my balls, or worse yet, wax them plus they are quite ticklish. Sure, sounds like a lot of fun and would be cool. As an idea....

I think that's the exact reason why it hasn't been announced yet. Seems like a tough year to lock things down, period. Wouldn't shock me at all to see the SuperJam "leader" added from off the lineup. A lot of the contending artists on the lineup will be in the midst of huge tours and don't have the time to stick around after their set and/or rehearse beforehand.
Being the producer of the Bonnaroo SuperJam seems like the coolest job in the world, but goddamn, that's gotta be stressful. Especially with the clock ticking.

That's why I've always said comedians during set breaks would be cool. lower tier comedians might be willing to put up with everything going on behind them if it meant having a large audience there

My idea has been to have Roo attendees "DJ" between sets by submitting 30-60 minute playlists. They could announce whose playlist it was and make it a nice little interactive thing.

I'd love this but it also means less people walking around between sets to buy things.

Back in 2003 they had actual DJs (zomg) playing on the What between sets from the scheduled artists. RJD2, DJ Spooky, Kid Koala, Z-trip and Mixmaster Mike are the ones I can remember offhand. I've never understood why more fests don't do this.
It looks like Levitation is doing that this year, excited to see how it turns out. They have one or two DJs listed for each stage, for each day. Assuming they'll just be set up back by the soundboard, and spinning in between each set. Really great idea, and more people should definitely do it. I don't recognize any of the names, but with the lineup they put together, there's no way there aren't a few gems in there.
Edit: The DJs listed are:
Holly Calder Al Lover DJ Scorpio DJ Whiplash Oslo Psych Fest DJs Darragh Skelton Steve Bowstead Psych Army DJs Sipreano DJ D Lefty Parker Gypo Buggane

I remember z trip spinning before someone on the what stage. Either panic or Neil young. I loved that.
Clearly the Superjam plans haven't come to fruition, they just really don't want to announce something like "Superjam! Curated by Widespread Panic"
Oh man, what if they can't figure something out and make it happen?! Will they make it like the old days where the members weren't announced, but they'll just ask around to the farm to ask people if they're down to play?!?! Or will they just cancel the show?

I don't wanna believe in another like the fabled David Byrne SJ of '09 that allegedly fell apart near last minute. Or so I believe the halls of Inforoo claim.

Oh... My... God... How glorious it would be. If only he were already playing earlier that night at a show featuring a bunch of 70's Nigerian Electro Afro-funk... Oh wait...
