If this is true, it would be unreal...and yes in the past two years the Roo has had three superjams
2013: Wu-tang Hip Hop Superjam, Rock n Soul Dance Party hosted by Jim James, Bluegrass Superjam hosted by Ed Helms
2014: Skrillex & friends, Derek Trucks & Friends, Bluegrass Superjam hosted by Ed Helms
Possible 2015 sets: NBT, Bluegrass Superjam hosted by Ed Helms, and......Grateful Dead Tribute Superjam...
just to clarify, if there were to be a dead superjam it would be one of three....leaving it open for the New Basement Tapes and Bluegrass Superjams to still occur. Not sure why everyone thinks it would cancel out the New Basement Tapes Superjam.
That's too many "old, white guy" themes for Superjam. There isn't much variety. I think they'd probably go with an electronic one again or something along those lines.

I agree that it would not give much diversity to the Superjams, I was just reiterating that the Roo has had three since 2013 and most likely will this year. Whether that be NBT, Hip Hop, Bluegrass or Electronic, NBT, Bluegrass or NBT, Bluegrass, and Dead. For the record I don't think it is likely to occur, just fun speculating. Also the fact that we are still missing one of the SJ's. (seems as though NBT is a lock with all of the artist but Elvis on the lineup and of course the bluegrass w/ed)
There is absolutely no reason to think there is three superjams.
Sure there is. The year of the Hip Hop Superjam had it get added late. At the time there were only two listed and they added a third. They could do it again.

Just to piggyback off of what itrainmonkeys said Just because they haven’t announced a third superjam doesn’t mean they will not….the last two years they have…and specifically in 2013 they announced the Hip hop superjam a week before. Don’t believe me, check the links below

Obviously, at this point we're just saying that it's possible. Not that it's likely. I'm not expecting a third to be added but I didn't expect them to do it in the past, either.
PS that post kind of implies core-4 involvement. I'm calling BS on that. We have already heard from multiple sources that the Dead turned down offers to play Roo
Yea, that's what made me think pure speculation. Why would the Dead turn down offers to play the festival and then pick up an offer to play the festival in the Superjam slot?
I'm still leaning towards them trying to put together a new basement tapes thing. Mumford, Jim James, and Rhiannon all on the same day with Dawes the day before. Could be a coincidence but could be making it easy on them to all be there.
I agree, in one of the AMAs someone said something along the lines of "Would you prefer New or Old Basement Tapes" That kind of made me think it would be those guys playing the Old Basement Tape stuff

I would guess if they did have it that it would be a Dead theme superjam with one or two members and not the entire band. The Outside Lands lineup seems to sure up that this is a bloggers wishful thinking.

I think some sort of dead themed or dead involvement in a super jam doesn't seem that far fetched at all. we already know they were in touch with them about doing a show and got turned down, not hard to imagine they put a super jam on the table to individual members as well. It wouldn't need be strictly Dead themed either. mickey hart was in the skrilly bear SJ last year.
maybe instead of arguing NBT vs. the dead, we should just hope bob weir shows up on stage with jim james and they do a bunch of dylan tunes.

Does anybody else think a old school rock and roll/rhythm and blues superjam led by Robert Plant would be cool? Like a honeydrippers type superjam with different guests choosing songs that they loved from that era maybe.
With the addition of d'angelo and the vanguard,I am hoping we get some Pino Palladino in the superjam. He and Scofield on stage together would be sweet.
edit: nevermind, dangelo and superjam are both LN saturday.

Playing the same night didn't stop R Kelly or Billy Idol from joining the Superjam

My dream. Flylib Superjam: Flying Lotus and Madlib leading a J Dilla Tribute SJ with special guests El-P, SBTRKT, Thundercat and D'Angelo, with a troop of rappers and singers as well.
Back to reality now, how have FlyLo and Madlib never collaborated on anything? Think of the potential awesomeness of a Captain Murphy and Quasimoto collab.

"Children of the Atom" and something else off the Captain Murphy are Madlib Produced

True, I forgot about that. They still need to do a full album together.
Or... How about just give Jim James a three hour slot starting at midnight and tell him he can only use an acoustic guitar and an omnichord, and that guest musicians may only comprise 49% or less of his total set time.
Alright, now that we know it's in the other tent, what is everyone thinking? Also, it's worth mentioning that the way Jim James answered the question about basement tapes during that AMA made it seem likely they'd perform some songs during their set as opposed to the Superjam.... With the lack of hip hop Saturday night and it being in the other tent, I'm praying for a FlyLo curated Trip Hop super jam (I know it won't actually happen but don't rain on my parade)
