I'm guessing they don't even have the full Atomic Bomb lineup worked out yet. I'm sure components are in place but not the whole band. To me it seems like its being treated like a Superjam. They'll make an announcement eventually on the performers. No need to rush to judgement until then.
I believe that if David Byrne was going to be there the lineup would have a "featuring David Byrne" on it. That being said Atomic Bomb is listed way to high for him not to be there.
For what it's worth, Atomic Bomb just played Sydney Festival, and this was the lineup:
"William Onyeabor’s music is brought to life for two exclusive shows by a 18-strong ensemble led by Sinkane, Money Mark, Luke Jenner (The Rapture), Pharoah Sanders and Pat Mahoney (LCD Soundsystem), with special guests Gotye and the legendary Mahotella Queens."
So, yeah.
In all fairness it is a festival in Australia. David Bryne at least has played Roo several times and presumably enjoys it. And Hot Chip will be stateside within a week of Bonnaroo. It's a bit different than traveling half way around the world for a side project.
I love that people are already setting themselves up to be let down when Gorillaz doesn't play next year.
Also, seriously, look at the lineup for Atomic Bomb for the shows they just played.
Come on Rory, I hope you think I'm better than that?! I know we won't get Gorillaz though I think Coachella MIGHT, but I still doubt it.
And yeah, I'm not getting my hopes up for who will be in the Atomic Bomb! show, no matter who it is, it'll be pretty damn great and I'll dance my ass off. Besides, it's not lie any of them made the music, so it's not like a certain lineup will make it sound more like the recording. So, it really doesn't matter who shows up , the only thing you gain from the guests is the fact that there is another person on stage and you can brag to your friends about having seen them perform Onyeabor songs but the actual quality of the music won't change much.
Don't be shocked if we don't get Byrne, Alex, Albarn, or even Gotye. And it'll be a bunch of people who haven't performed as Atomic Bomb yet and are already on the lineup. It'll be just like a Superjam.

I would be happy with Pharaoh Sanders, Pat Mahoney, and the Mahotella Queens. I don't see a possible scenario where this doesn't kick all asses.

Not necessarily expecting the full original lineup but it will most likely not be something completely different. The booking agent of the original Atomic Bomb band is the one who booked this show.

I meant more in the way of guest vocals. I'd expect the instrumental portion to remain roughly the same as the most recent touring lineup.

A friend of mine has booked Luke Jenner of The Rapture to DJ a small dance series he promotes in NC the week before Bonnaroo, so there's that.

Hangout just announced some additions. Pretty big as far as additions go in my opinion: Sam Smith (billed 2nd), Tove Lo, Joey BadA$$, Sylvan Esso, Deap Vally, Jeff the Brotherhood, and Natural Child. So, 4 additions in the top 30. Not sure what Hangout's history of additions is or whether their lineup was light compared to previous years.

They were just waiting to see how Sam Smith did at the Grammy's. That's ridiculously high billing. Over Beck?! And Zac Brown Band? I don't understand how him and Hozier have gotten so huge. Pretty voices with average songs.

Sam Smith headlining all these fests is so befuddling to me. Sure, I enjoyed chilling under a tree listening to his tent show in the middle of the afternoon last year, but uhhhh, headlining two fests with ONE album out? And to think some people have been complaining so much about the lack of material Kendrick has out with him headlining Roo...
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Man, I hope we get Joey!!! This really gets my hopes up because he would be a kickass Thursday hip hop act!

I just want to take a moment to thank Bonnaroo. Despite the top 15 having several questionable names, Sam Smith is nowhere to be seen. Thanks Bonnaroo!

Or it could be because we had him last year.
Shit, that doesn't mean anything. Bonnaroo brings people back all the time when they blow up. Kendrick, MGMT, Black Keys, Bassnectar, Childish Gambino, etc.
He could easily even be an addition. so there's that

Well hopefully since he is everywhere this summer, that means Bonnaroo won't have him as an addition.
