2014:
April 05 - Twenty One Pilots
May 15 - Lana Del Rey
May 30 - Why?
June 12-15 - Roo '14
June 24 - Arctic Monkeys
September 05 - Twenty One Pilots
September 23 - Lorde
September 26 - Why?
Tame Impala Beck Modest mouse St. Vincent Lorde The Decemberists Ryan Adams The Weeknd Todd Terje Jagwar Ma Alt-J Grimes Primus Weezer The strokes Future islands (I am in shock they aren't there) FKA twigs Parquet courts Ratatat Hot Chip
So fucking many. I expected a decent amount of those on the lineup. At least 4 of those.
I think some of these are still going to happen. There is still room on the lineup for the additions. And when has a fest played all their cards on the first announcement?
pretty much. i'd say a todd terje LN would be my ultimate add, but DFA1979 is up there cause I think they and roo would make a fantastic marriage (they just played nashville a couple months ago, so I dunno), and it really just needs to happen already. also any of ratatat, st. vincent, or modest mouse would be pretty great, and help to flesh out this lineup.

they couldn't just book dfa1979? must've been so hard to try and get them, ya know, cause they are touring and just put out a new album. top 3 lines are really weak this year. I'll still be there and have fun, but I'm gonna head to governors ball too now. THANKS BONNAROO

I'm praying for a Primus add. I mean, the Chocolate Factory show would translate perfectly on the farm. I know there were rumors of a twitter confirmation before, even though it appeared to be a false account. But I think it's still in the realm of possibility. Also, could be that AC and his cronies are saving an add like this to help with possible slow sales, or to go with something in the cinema tent (showing the original Willie Wonka & the Choc. Factory Movie), sort of like Rocky Horror Picture Show and Polyphonic Spree back in '13... Just a thought.

I personally love the lineup, I find it to be much better than last years already and I'm sure there will be a decent number of additions. I would still like to see.. Weezer Modest Mouse Odd Future Member Lorde and Flatbush Zombies.

Most fests do this, all the time. So, often, and continuously. These days it makes more sense to do so, since there's so much competition. Holding out Spiritualized for an "artist addition" announcement in March does nothing if all the people who really wanted to see that band just said "eh, fuck it, I'll do Shaky Knees" instead.
Most of us seem to agree that at least one of these ought to be added, if possible...
St. Vincent Tame Impala TV on the Radio Modest Mouse
It's not probable, but possible because they added Rodrigo y Gabriela & CUBA late in 2012 and they were a pre-headliner. I would love Ratatat or Future Islands, which I assume would be the highest-caliber additions they have - assuming they don't have something different in store this year.
I'm in the group that thinks there won't be any major additions. Considering how many festival lineups are coming out in a two week span, there's no way you're gonna hold back on announcing major acts and risk losing your customers in those initial weeks. Hate to say it, but I'm starting to think Roo is gonna take a hit this year.

I'm right there with you. We all expect festivals to get EVERY band that we want to see...which is never going to happen. Who'd they book next year if they did so? This pretty much sums up the "There's GOT to be big names on the next additions release."
I just put all of the announced artists into my schedule template from last year, and I was left with 8 blanks on Thursday and 8 more blanks on Fri-Sun (combined). That's just the What/Which/Tents (not Sonic Stage, Cafe Where, etc.).
Of course there is a ton of guessing in this exercise, but unless I'm missing something completely obvious, we're in for a lot of artist additions PLUS comedy acts, cafes, etc.

Yeah, I think everyone agrees we'll get another 15ish artist additions. However, I'm still nervous about putting too much faith into the idea that these adds could include names as big as Modest Mouse, Lorde, St. Vincent, Death Cab, etc. I would imagine an up-and-coming-but-not-yet-widespread-famous band like Future Islands as a more conceivable add, maybe even Alt-J, but if they were gonna snag these guys, wouldn't they have made it onto the main lineup drop? Sure, they could still be figuring out contract negotiations and all, but Hangout got FI and Coach got Alt-J. Idk, I'm rambling now. I want to remain hopeful that we'll grab some of the names everyone is throwing out, but I don't want to get TOO hopeful.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
I enjoyed getting on twitter and seeing someone very confident in some news, like "I'm hearing there's going to be a second wave or artist additions..." Really?! Where's you hear that? The bottom of the lineup where it says "And much more to be announced"?
Lolz that made me laugh after seeing the level of scoopz folks have in here.
Was really hoping to see Tame Impala and Death Cab after the rumors so those would be my top picks. Also, more jambands please. This year's lineup is seriously lacking it's original roots!

I would like to see Bronze Radio Return back. They were a café act last year which I thought was surprising. I think they are essentially a much better version of Lumineers and would be great with a full set in a Tent.
I'd also really like to see the Limousines on the farm. Both their albums are sick. I can't believe they haven't been to Roo before (to my knowledge). Figured they'd be a great fit.
Who makes guacamole happen!?!? Does a tabloid like the University of Oklahoma student paper make guacamole happen or do ME AND YOU make it exist? Just cause they write about it doesn't make guacamole exist - ME AND YOU MAKE IT EXIST!

Wasn't surprised to see Mumford & Sons or My Morning Jacket were on the bill. Was slightly surprised to see Dawes announced. Was definitely thinking New Basement Tapes Superjam/show when I saw Rhiannon Giddens was announced. All they need now is Elvis Costello and T-Bone Burnett. That would go a long way to salvaging my Roo. Would also have liked to see Diamond Rugs, Ryan Adams, Conor Oberst, Justin Townes Earle, M83. Doesn't matter, though. Roo will still rule.

Elvis is busy but I think they could do it without him. T-Bone didn't play on the album, just produced and was in charge of it, so they don't need him either.
Bonnaroo was getting ready to go down on us with a good old fashioned "death cab"-job but instead at the last second reached around the back and quacked us in the ass.
What I'm saying is that they owe us death cab now because we deserve it but because of our over-assumptions and our buttholes hurt.

Not saying this to start anything as I know Billy Joel, Mumford, and Mau5 are the Friday-Sun headliners but if you are just trying to figure out how many more slots are available, couldn't you just count all the time slots from last year versus all the bands announced this year? Where does Miller Lite Stage fall in your math? Did Miller Light get counted in with "what/which/tents" or "(not Sonic Stage, Cafe Where, etc.)

I was doing a mock schedule anyway, so then I just counted as you said. No, Miller Lite Stage did not fall in my math (only what/which/this/that/other). In order to fill a lot of blank space, I really do think we will be getting another act like people are clamoring for (Modest Mouse, St. Vincent, Tame Impala) and then several other Thursday acts and a handful of other Fri-Sun tent acts.
