I think this is probably a mistake, but Billboard just posted an article about Drake's surprise album drop last night. Key information: "That album is expected later this year, likely after the rapper's headline performances at festivals like Coachella and Bonnaroo." Here is the link.
Full Disclosure: I am no Drake fan. Just letting y'all know what I read.
Interesting, I could see Billboard just getting their info mixed up.

Drake's getting added to headline Roo and Darius Rucker is taking AC/Superfly's emergency stand-in roll previously held by WSP, per Billboard.
Even in your infinite pessimism, you know this isn't the worst lineup ever, especially if they get Hot Chip. I'm not saying it's a great lineup, but it's liveable
Aside from the early years when Bonnaroo was all jambandz, yeah, this is the worst Bonnaroo lineup I can think of. Even if you want to pare it down some, it's the worst Bonnaroo lineup I can recall since before 2007.
I think this lineup is all around better than 2010. The top 2 are a wash , but the bottom half of the lineup is much stronger this year than 2010.

Not that I want Drake, I saw him last year and he's not that bad, but do you think that was written without researching, or are they telling us something we don't want to know?
Another bit of food for thought, which does nothing but cause more speculation, but the source I got the initial lineup information from was saying that apparently they had a superjam put together, but it ended up falling through so they were scrambling to figure out how to replace it. Makes you wonder if there were some significant bands included in that superjam that backed out and is the cause for the pretty weak lineup. Couple that with Drake not booking because he didn't want to share the headliner spot with Kendrick (see my second post ever), Roo might have just straight fucked up this year.

I think its really hard to say they fucked up, as this lineup can be compared to anything else in 2015 and will be at least as good, if not better.
It would be interesting to be a fly on the wall of the conversations though, I'd love to know who was close, not so close, etc.

Well that makes sense. I had put it at about 50/50 they fucked up vs knowing something we didn't. My most sincere apologies to all of the massive Drake fans on this board.

Ok, I just want to point out that this is not how superjams usually work, I'll explain the basic formula and use 2013 as a reference. Typically superjams are curated by one artist who is already performing on the farm, either solo or as part of a group (Jim James). That artist then builds the main group around them (OUT OF MUSICIANS WHO ARE NOT PERFORMING ON THE FARM OTHERWISE THAT YEAR) that will play the entire show (Oates, Ziggaboo Modeliste, etc.) and then, throughout the show, special guests (who are performing on the farm in shows aside from the Superjam) are brought out to perform a song a two each (Billy Idol, R. Kelly).
So, knowing that, missing a bunch of artists would not mess up a superjam, HOWEVER, if there was an act that they wanted to book and a member of that act was intended to act as the curator for the Superjam, that would cancel Superjam plans. I will say that it is typical Bonnaroo to figure the super jams out pretty late in the game (especially the special guests, often throwing them in the day before or the day of the show)

The bottom half has plenty of gems. After the excitement of the lineup dropping early fizzled, I realized how bland the lineup was looking. Usually as I discover acts that I have never listened to before, I get excited. Not so much with this lineup. I actually was really excited for alot of the deep undercard, until I realized almost 87% of them are going to be playing Thursday. The rest of the acts I have never heard of unfortunately this time around are just bluegrass dudes, acoustic sets, and nonsense from the 90s.

I'm sorry, but weren't Skrillex, Warpaint, Chance the Rapper, Zedd, and Janelle Monae all announced originally with the Skrillex Superjam last year? Knowing that, missing a bunch of artists could in fact mess up a Superjam if the curator of the Superjam really wanted those acts to make it happen and nothing else. I'm not retarded, I get how it works, I was proposing a different theory.
Edit: I shouldn't have to mention it, but in case you missed it, those artists were booked to perform on the farm as well.

I suppose it's all how you look at it. I figure I could easily see Hiss Golden Messenger, Strand of Oaks, and Brownout (closing a tent thursday, it has to happen) on thursday. That would be a great day. I already know where I will be all day Sunday: with the greatest collection of Bluegrass musicians since the Bluegrass Allstars, which I missed in 08. That's another great day. Then Friday and Saturday I know I'm going to be able to see a lot of my favorite bands with a Superjam latenight in there somewhere, plus now that MMJ is out I'm putting all my eggs in a basket I've been calling for since 09 or 10: Spoon latenight

Not a chance. That lineup had names scattered all through it. Bottom half: nitty gritty dirt band, dr dog, punch bros, trombone shorty, miranda lambert, japandroids, edward sharpe, mumford and sons. Mid listings: tori amos, les claypool, jeff beck, deadmau5, bassnectar, kris kistofferson, gwar, gaslight anthem.
Not to mention stevie wonder put on one of the greatest shows ever. Dead weather...

Grateful Dead back out and the Trey Anastasio Superjam falls apart.

I am not saying how they bill it, they often list as many of the special guests as they can but they leave room for some surprises by by putting something like "and more" or "special guests" But Skrillex's also fits the formula that I explained. Ready? Here we go...
Artist already performing on the Farm that is curating the superjam: Skrillex
Artists not already on the farm that are the core band that play the entire show: the guys from a Big Gigantic, Micky Hart, Thundercat
Artist already performing on the Farm that come out to perform a song or two: Zedd, Janelle Monae, Lauryn Hill, ASAP Ferg, the girls from Warpaint, Chance the Rapper (was supposed to but didn't show)
Random artists that aren't otherwise on the farm that came out for a couple songs: Damian Marley, Robby Kreiger
So, I never called you a retard, simply explained the formula, because despite you saying you know it, you didn't realize it almost always applies. Hell for fun, let's see if it applied to the Derek Trucks a Superjam last year!
Artist already performing on the Farm that is curating the superjam: Derek Trucks
Artists not already on the farm that are the core band that play the entire show: Chaka Khan. David Hidalgo, Willie Weeks, Nigel Hall, Ryan Zoidis, Eric Bloom, Adam Deitch

Random artists that aren't otherwise on the farm that came out for a couple songs: Karl Denson, Ben Folds

You're thinking Warpaint. Those girls did have a set on the farm last year. The guys from The War on Drugs have a set this year.

Damn, my bad. Didn't they only do a couple songs anyway? I'll put them in the correct category

Are you satisfied now with my examples?
I'm not looking for an argument man, I'm just saying it is possible. You have a great approach and thats honestly said with no sarcasm. I'm going off what I know (a super jam was scrapped) and what is the overall majority opinion (missing some mid level acts, not to mention headliners because I'm not happy with them either ) and formulated my own theory.

I gotcha, it was just the way you said "I'm not retarded" or something like that, that I thought you were trying to argue. I apologize and I understand thinking that some mid level acts fell through of something of that nature, I'm just not so sure that it has to do with the Superjam. I have one question, where is the super jam being cancelled info coming from?

Same guy that fed me the information about the initial lineup/headliners. He was spot on with everyone but Modest Mouse and Alt-J which makes me think something weird happened and they backed out after being booked... He also gave me the information that Drake didn't want to share a headline spot with Kendrick and thats why Roo didn't book Drake.
