I'll never forget attending Coachella '09 and seeing the hundreds of Latino men seemingly oozing machismo other than their Morrisey t shirts.
This was basically 75% of the guys at my high school. Latino, Morrisey shirt tucked into Jeans, giant belt buckle. I never understood it.
Chuck Klosterman wrote a piece in A Decade Of Curious People And Dangerous Ideas on the phenomenon that's available as a stand alone essay for $.99 on Amazon.
They Might Be Giants tour ends on may 31st and they have no TN dates.
TMBG was the first "real" band I liked, if you don't count Garth Brooks, Vanilla Ice, and Green Jello as "real" bands. I still love them, and saw them live in recent years and its such a fun show. So happy to see them playing all the old tunes with the enthusiasm of teenagers. I know they have a devoted following but I still consider them criminally underrated songwriters. They are like Ween but with none of the drugs.
At one point they divided the crowd down the middle and named one side "humans" and one side "apes". They had a contest to see who could chant "humans" or "apes" louder. The apes won, but I think the game is rigged, because its much easier to shout "apes" then to shout "humans".

I just about died when they played "Letterbox", one of my all time favorite songs. "Doctor Worm" was a monster, the crowd went insane. Of course "Ana Ng", jesus, another one of my all time favorite songs, as it is for any Giants fan. The only other time I saw them they also played "Fingertips", which isn't just "Fingertips", its all the secret tracks on 'Apollo 18' back to back.
Ooh I'm gunna go listen to SO MUCH They Might Be Giants now.
Fingertips is always fun. I can't remember if the humans or apes won at the Minneapolis show, but i think it was the apes. They played Roo 5 years ago in the middle of the day at The Other Tent. It included an appearance by their Avatars of They puppets, confetti during one of the pauses of "Older", and they played "Meet The Elements" which made me really excited.

Another random Morrissey tidbit: if you haven't seen the Coachella documentary, by all means do, its fantastic all the way around, but one of the best parts are the fans leaping on the stage just to try to touch Morrissey. Its mania. Particularly this one bespectacled overweight fellow with tears streaming down his face.
Another random bit from the documentary that I love is when Mos Def is up in the camera's face asking why Coachella hadn't booked the White Stripes. Then they fast forward to the next year.

Where can I find this?
I don't know if it is streaming anywhere but this is the one:
I watched it a bunch because it used to come on Palladia all the time. Haven't had cable for a while so not sure if it still does. Really worth your time, makes you remember how amazing that period was for music.
I know modest mouse isn't realistic. Is there any hope for TV on the Radio?
Why is Modest Mouse unrealistic?
Also, St. Vincent, maybe?
Modest Mouse is unrealistic because they are playing Forecastle, and they are also playing Wayhome. Forecastle rarely lineups with Roo's undercard because each fest does their own thing. I think Roo and Forecastle only shared Jack White last year. Also, with Superfly/AC's new fest in Toronto called WayHome: they share some of the same acts but I think Wayhome will have Modest Mouse and Alt-J, and probably Future Islands to themselves. I hope I'm wrong and we get at least one of them: preferably Modest Mouse or Future Islands.
And wow, you're like a walking, talking infomercial to turn people away from Pearl Jam and Ohio State, aren't you? Before you started posting here I quite liked Pearl Jam and was indifferent towards OSU, now I find myself wishing that Eddie Vedder falls down a mine shaft or that Columbus is infested with locusts
Highly likely additions: Flogging Molly, Gogol Bordello, Mariachi El Bronx and/or The Bronx. All are playing in Charlotte, NC together the Monday night after Roo.
I would guess that Wire will be an addition based on the fact that they are playing Headliners in Louisville the Wednesday before Bonnaroo and this venue usually has a few Bonnaroo artists play in the days before or after the festival.

Highly UNlikely adds. They are playing gigs the Thur, Fri, Sat of Roo. A packed Sun being the only chance, then they play Mon and Tue. 6 shows in a row aint happening.
I'm not reading through all of this. But apparently Mae will be added and are paying Sunday... I don't know how reliable that info is though. I'll upload a screenshot later. Not that Mae is at all relevant anymore... Or ever. Just a band I liked when I was like 15 or 16.

Who is Mae? Also, could you provide that screenshot?

Mae is a band that had slight success in like 2004ish.. So I guess I was more like 14-15. I guess they're playing the only album I listened to from them in their entirety here and when I commented on it the promoter commented with this back. Thus I don't know how reliable it is.

I have this sneaking suspicion that we won't really be getting many artist adds outside of the usual cafe/comedy ones. I saw that somebody did the math many pages ago using last year to compare the amount of artists on this year's initial lineup. I believe it totaled to about 15-20 mid-tier/undercard acts missing when compared to last year. That's a lot, but I don't think that means Roo HAS to book the same amount or more. Trust me, I'd love me some Tame Impala, Future Islands, Panda Bear, Modest Mouse, Primus, Ratatat, St. Vincent, Hot Chip, Todd Terje, and pretty much most of the bands people are hoping for, but I just don't have a good feeling we're going to get our wish. I hope I'm wrong.

I'm banking on a handful of main stage additions but nothing super huge. St. Vincent would be a big name for an addition IMO. I'd love it but I think we get some more mid/lower lineup adds.

In recent years there has been a 1-2 month gap between the initial lineup announcement and the additions. I'd guess that if we don't hear anything by April then it might be a year of 0 additions.

There were additions last year. Just no one huge. John Paul Jones was confirmed/added for Seasick Steve and the other band I had heard of was Arc Iris. But they were main stage additions, for sure.

I'm gonna stay cautiously optimistic with my expectations. Am I gonna get every single act that I want? No. But I think there's a decent chance to get maybe one or two of those names you mentioned.
I feel this is slightly ambitious with artist additions in the tent closing and late night spots, but otherwise. it's a 1/2 decent reference to what we have, and what there's room for. I think most of the additions that play tents will be inserted into the earlier time slots, with maybe (MAYBE!") one LN a la GZA of additions past. But who knows.

Ah, ok. I was going off the Important Bonnaroo-Related Dates thread OP which has "none" listed. I forgot about those and although it's just 6 artists they aren't Cafe/Club acts.
