Ticket sales have to have something to do with additions, and I would have to guess they are a bit light so far. Additions are also good for getting back in the news and average music fans might see a band added which gets them to discover the lineup or maybe even Roo in general. I think they might be trying to seal some deals for a mid March announcement, final ticket push. I'm still thinking (maybe hoping) 3 decent sized acts, and 3 small acts for a mid march announcement. If they need to sell a lot of tix, maybe a Weezer or Offspring, well known type act thrown in. If it's just gravy on top of good sales, Claypool or St Vincent size. Early lineup, puts it on sched for about mid march.

There was mention that the Reddit AMA may take place early March on their (Bonnaroo's) Twitter feed. I would think they would have an announcement before it to keep the additions question to a bare minimum and to get back in the news cycle with all of the festival announcements of late. If we go by what they said with the AMA, I say either this week or next week is when we will see some sort of additions.
In recent years (not including last year which had no additions) there has been a 1-2 month gap between the initial lineup announcement and the additions. I'd guess that if we don't hear anything by April then it might be another year of 0 additions.
There were additions last year. Just no one huge. John Paul Jones was confirmed/added for Seasick Steve and the other band I had heard of was Arc Iris. But they were main stage additions, for sure.
The bottom 5 bands were cafe/club acts, not main stage acts.
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.

Pixies just announced a North American tour with a 2 week gap around Bonnaroo. They have a show in Brooklyn at the end of May and then they have a show June 18th in Quebec I believe
I have this sneaking suspicion that we won't really be getting many artist adds outside of the usual cafe/comedy ones. I saw that somebody did the math many pages ago using last year to compare the amount of artists on this year's initial lineup. I believe it totaled to about 15-20 mid-tier/undercard acts missing when compared to last year. That's a lot, but I don't think that means Roo HAS to book the same amount or more. Trust me, I'd love me some Tame Impala, Future Islands, Panda Bear, Modest Mouse, Primus, Ratatat, St. Vincent, Hot Chip, Todd Terje, and pretty much most of the bands people are hoping for, but I just don't have a good feeling we're going to get our wish. I hope I'm wrong.
I think you make a good point. It's dangerous to expect that we will be getting additions, because Bonnaroo usually releases (more or less) their entire lineup. HOWEVER, when they released a light lineup a month before the usual date it raised some red flags that this year might be different. It seems to me that the real danger lies in hoping for specific acts rather than just seeing what AC has up their sleeve.

I mixed up wht I was reading and thought that I saw Arc Iris on a tent slot but the last section was for music lounge so I'm going to assume you're right about the other acts. My bad.

Yeah it seems like it would make sense for them to drop something right before their AMA. We'll see.
I like Cage the Elephant, but it would be really lame for Roo to book them again. Not too keen on Roo getting repeat artists the very next year. Give it at least 2-3 years.
I feel this is slightly ambitious with artist additions in the tent closing and late night spots, but otherwise. it's a 1/2 decent reference to what we have, and what there's room for. I think most of the additions that play tents will be inserted into the earlier time slots, with maybe (MAYBE!") one LN a la GZA of additions past. But who knows.
Man, I've really been getting into the War on Drugs, and after seeing that potential conflict with MMJ, i went ahead and bought a ticket to one of their March shows.

Passion Pit just dropped their tour dates which includes a few festivals. No Nashville tour date and the entire month of June is free. Fingers crossed. Would love to see them on The Farm! They were at Roo in 2013 but hopefully they consider coming back to support their new album.

With a West Coast date at the end of May and no scheduled dates in North America until the end of July, I think they'll be playing festivals in Europe during June.
Cage the Elephant is HORRIBLE live. Granted, I am not really a fan, but they were so fucked up when they played voodoo it was the worst. He couldn't remember lyrics and stage dived in the middle of songs instead of singing.

Passion Pit is billed to headline a couple of fests. I don't feel that they are Bonnaroo headlining materials, but I would think that they would want to be billed high on the list and those spots are pretty much done.
I think both of these are unlikely, but what do I know?

Passion Pit is headlining a couple of smaller festivals, but they're billed 6th at Bottlerock Napa and 8th at WayHome. They would probably be billed in the 10-12 range at Roo. That being said, my bets are on them being in Europe during Roo.

Panda bear. Father john misty. Papadosio. The Werks.Everyone Orchestra. Would be the most ideal adds for me personally. But whatever it is in sure it will be great .

duuude, pixies man. that would be amazing. maybe because the band hadn't announced their own tour, it couldn't be released with roo announcement. that would be a great artist addition.

Cage put on a great show here in Nashville last fall, so maybe voodoo was an off night for them......I don't know. Regardless, I don't need them back so soon.

there's gonna be so much butt hurt in this thread when only cafe act additions are added like last year.
Since we're missing about 20 tent/stage acts versus last year, what do you think Bonnaroo would do if they only added cafe acts like last year? Start a few hours later on Thursday? End the Fri/Sat tents an hour earlier? I just don't see that happening, but if it does then my butt will surely hurt.
