Haha that's what I thought. I'm not gonna disagree with you, but for the sake of curiosity, what exactly do think makes music vanilla? My music knowledge definitely lacks depth, but not breadth - I listen to most genres. Is it just because I don't care for metal and lack a Radiohead boner? Yeah my music tastes include vanilla things - as do yours, Mr. Shake It Off - but that's definitely not all that's there is.
Edit: And ftr I'm not trying to be defensive because I don't consider it an offense - I like what I like and I'm okay with that - I'm just interested in your thoughts.
I don't even think that's what it is. You just pick the easiest target when giving someone shit. listens to plenty of genres but people just give him crap about the weird stuff. Phyre Fest listens to plenty but people just give him shit about the terrible edm he listens to. You bring up two singer songwriter esque acts and vanilla is the easiest target to go with.
Ah. It didn't seem like you were talking within the context of this thread. BUT NOPE YOU'RE JUST BEING A GIANT POO POO FACE.

People really do underestimate my ability to be a dick. You should listen to garageland sometimes.
I think it would be very unlikely. His closest Southern dates are Richmond, Durham, and New Orleans. While I am surprised that he doesn't have a Nashville date, he has publicly stated that he doesn't like playing festivals, which I think makes him a pretty unlikely get.
Yeah, backing up this statement. He's gonna be at Eaux Claires but that's the only fest I know of that he's attending (in the US)...if he was going to do one in the Southeast area, my money would've been on Shaky Knees. As Jaz mentioned, he has said numerous times that he isn't really into playing festivals. You should catch one of his tour shows though! I may or may not be going to three in total...
He's also playing MusicNOW festival in Cincinatti this month. I'd love to seem him at Roo, but keeping in mind those 2 bookings (Eaux Claires/MusicNOW) it seems that he's more interested in "boutique" fests.
A little late coming back to the Sufjan discussion here BUT a collection of his that I checked out for the first time recently around the holidays was his Christmas box set. Holy crap! What a great assembling of songs. Some great covers but the originals are what I like the best. Jupiter Winter, Star of Wonder, and Worst Christmas Ever are some of my favorites! It's like 5 discs and there's lots of variety. Any of of you should check it out this next holiday season. Ah screw it! Why not now!?

The fact that Jimmy Fallon mentioned my favorite hip hop group from Australia on his show gives me hope that one day Bonnaroo will book them. Finally they are getting some recognition in the states! This is Eso's first solo single from the group Bliss n Eso

Should be noted that MusicNOW isn't a performance of his solo material, as it's really "Sufjan Stevens, Nico Muhly and Bryce Dessner perform selections from Planetarium with the CSO." He's only headlined MusicNOW once with his own material, and that was is 2007, which was a great show. In reality, he's on both of those lineups, because his friends curate those fests.
Well since I'm going to Beale st. and I got tickets to see modest mouse, beck, TV on the radio all before roo I'm crossing my fingers and hoping all the budget for artist additions goes to D'Angelo.

So...Who thinks additions will drop this week? The 18th date that was speculated a few pages back got to me. Now I'm at least half expecting additions to happen on Wednesday. Can't take my mind off of it.

I concur. Love his Christmas shit. Love all his shit though. Maybe even his actual shit
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
Pixies just announced a North American tour with a 2 week gap around Bonnaroo. They have a show in Brooklyn at the end of May and then they have a show June 18th in Quebec I believe
They just added a date in Cary, NC with Robert Plant on Monday, June 15, with the previous date being June 10 in Chicago. I'd be very surprised if they weren't in the first batch of announcements.
i dont' think i'd bother seeing them again without Kim.. the last show i went to was the dolittle tour and it was fantastic.. would rather that be my last show

Having seen them both with Kim and without, I honestly prefer them without. She's such a drain on the band's energy, and I can do without obsessives yelling out "I love you, Kim!" between every single song. Sonically, there was absolutely no difference.

This is a crazy thought, but with Zach de la Rocha recording with Run the Jewels, and Tom Morello recording with Bassnector, what are the chances we could see a RATM reunion? Probably unlikely, but them recording with Roo bands has me very intrigued. Other band members other than de la Rocha have always stated they want Rage back.

that's funny.. when i saw them she was the only one interacting with the audience. also, i thought the Breeders shows had more energy than the pixies shows.

1/30: Cold War Kids
2/6: Cherub
4/22: The Mountain Goats
5/25: Laura Jane Grace "Killing Me Loudly"
5/31: The Decemberists
6/11-6/14: BONNAROO 2015
6/28: Against Me!

Are they playing Kim songs? How are Paz's vocals?
They're good, but mostly complementary. They shaved a lot of songs that are more Kim-centric from their set, like "Gigantic", which I am absolutely fine with.

0.0% chance RATM reunites at Bonnaroo in 2015
I'd say its a 40% chance Bassnectar plays until say 5:00am and then these pedestals come rising out of stage behind him and its all of RATM and Bassnectar leaves the stage and RATM plays a two hour set as the sun comes up.
i'm definitely getting my hopes up for this scenario.
