If Modest Mouse do Forecastle and not Roo I will be crushed. And probably be forced to go to forecastle as well. at least one day.
I'm thinking that modest mouse may spend the summer over in Europe. I've been saying this since Isaac first announced they were really getting serious about recording finishing the album because he said something along the lines of, "We are canceling our European tour dates to finish up our album. Sorry Europe, we will make it up to you!" So, I think they may be doing exactly that this summer, making up their dates that they skipped, plus supporting their newest album. It seems logical to me. Plus they are doing shows in the Spring in the US, so it'd make sense to do spring here and then jump the pond for summer. But Forecastle (or some other US summer fest) getting them would poke a huge hole in this theory

Check the Forecastle facebook page. Your theory is deflating.

Fuckkkkk, then the only reasoning for them not being at Roo is because they are either saving them for a later announcement OR (and this is more likely) bonnaroo really fucked up on the booking and missed them. Btw, is Forecastle supposed to get Springsteen or McCartney? Because I though the general consensus was Speingsteen but I heard otherwise over the weekend

I'm really hoping they announce Roo later but we'll see.
I had been thinking Springsteen for Firefly just because I couldn't see them booking McCartney, but their was a fairly convincing leak of their lineup this weekend that had McCartney up top.

Yeah that's what my friend showed me, if they booked Paul, that's awesome. I'm gonna be bummed I can't afford Firefly on top of my already planned travels

The rumored "leaked" lineup that has been floating around is most likely a fake, but the headliners and a fair amount of the undercard are legitimate. The lineup was probably created by someone with considerable inside information who threw in a handful of acts who aren't playing (e.g., Morrissey) and left off some who are playing. Regarding the Paul rumors, Rory/Juggs and Launchpad confirmed that the huge mystery headliner is indeed McCartney a couple of weeks ago.
Modest Mouse have no tour dates scheduled. Besides Forecastle anyway. Them and Beck are two must see artists for me. if they release tour dates I may just see them individually rather than at Forecastle.

The only other show that I know of them doing is a local festival in Tampa on March 7/8

I'm really just sitting here praying for The Decemberists to be added. Their new album is a lot of fun and I've been dreaming of seeing them live for such a long time. This year seemed like the perfect year to book them, but I guess what do I know? I won't hold my breath (except kind of a little bit I will).

Maybe AC wanted to drop Forecastle's lineup with some exclusives to drive ticket sales, and then they'll add those that overlap to the Roo lineup afterwards?
Just a thought...
Edit: not that RL Grime or ILOVEMAKONNEN are ticket sales drivers by any means.

that's kind of my question, are we still assuming both of them will be added? i'd really love Grime there, i could care less if he gets a 6 o clock set

Do people really think we are getting additions other than cafe acts and comedy? I will be very surprised if we do, that has not been the trend for quite awhile now, and we have enough bands to more or less fill all the slots at this point.
They tell us "Rock'n'roll is the devil's music." Well, let's say we know that rock is the devil's music, and we know that it is, for sure … At least he fuckin' jams! If it's a choice between eternal Hell and good tunes, and eternal Heaven and New Kids on the fuckin' Block … I'm gonna be surfin' on the lake of fire, rockin' out.

there's math around here somewhere to prove that wrong (quantity of artists)
they seem to be switching trends this year as well, not sure if you noticed the month early lineup we already got

If you read back in this thread and others, the reason for this thinking is that we are about 20+ acts short of last years initial lineup. I think it could go either way. I'm not getting my hopes up but I won't be entirely shocked if they add some decent-sized names to the bill

Really I must have missed that!!!! Still you guys are seriously setting yourselves up for disappointment it seems like.

Has anyone noticed that last year (excluding superjams) Roo had about 190 bands on the lineup, and right now there are just under 100? I'm feeling a serious undercard release in February that's going to fill in alot of missing spaces with bands we had all hoped would be on this initial lineup release. If this has already been discussed, sorry, I didn't feel like catching up after a week of inactivity.
Last year, for the initial lineup, no comedy or cafe, we had 120 acts.
This year, we have 98.
yup
Again, yep.
Unless Bonnaroo does something drastically different with the schedule (i.e. start Thursday at 6pm instead of 3pm), we're in for some decent artist additions. I just don't see them raising ticket prices AND booking fewer acts. But hey, anything is possible.

haha yea i wouldn't say i'm expecting it really. i was just hoping rl grime would be an add and from just seeing those numbers that somebody put up comparing quantity of acts announced to quantity of previous years acts scheduled on tents/stages. that's all i'm really going off of. there's not a real brain inside my head

Most, if not all, the festivals that I go to, usually have additional artists added to the lineup after the initial drop. I would love for some second/third tier announcements, but am not dumb and setting myself up for disappointment. That being said, there will be additions of some kind, even if only the cafe/comedy lineup.

Yeah, either this or everyone is getting longer set time.
Pretty much guarantees more adds, and while they may not be Modest Mouse or St. Vincent big, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they're off the lists in here that people are clamoring for

I am sure there will be some additions, just not anything huge.

It's a pretty safe bet that they're going to be releasing individual tour dates once the album is out.

I have always felt that The Offspring fall into that Cake (last year) category of guys who would just be so well received on the farm despite not having as much success as they once had. Plus I had to miss them at Woodstock 99.
