It's that magical time of year again: Band-A-Day signups!
Pick a band, get a date. If you need to request a specific window or day of the week, you can, but I want to keep the order somewhat interesting, so don't get too request-happy.
SuperJam ! • Brandi Carlile • The Bluegrass Situation SuperJam featuring Ed Helms and Special Guests • The Very Best • Gramatik • Unknown Mortal Orchestra • Woods • Hurray For the Riff Raff • Priory • Brownout Presents BROWN SABBATH • Jon Cleary & The Absolute Monster Gentlemen • Christopher Denny • Jessica Hernandez & the Deltas •
Additions, when they happen, go preferentially to those who have had their shit together.
HALL OF SHAME [Day 05] Vic Vinegar, now a Band-a-Day has-been, folded. [Day 11] SwiggitySwoodyComin4DatBooty, was moved from Sound Tribe Sector 9 to District 9, where he was fed to the prawns.
Right now it's empty except for the template. But if you click in "Past Band A Day Threads" you'll see a bunch of links for past lineups.
Basically everyone picks one artist on the lineup. Then, in the Band-a-day section each day a member writes a new post that is all about the band they signed up for. Basically like an introduction/background/recommended listening type of thread for acts on the lineup.
Can anyone explain what this is exactly? It seems interesting and I'd be interested in partaking.
Chose a band that you're knowledgeable enough about to write a synopsis and review of in an interesting and informative way to those in the community who may be unaware of who they are, what kind of music they make, what their live shows have been known to be, usually with youtube examples of key tracks to begin with, as well as other bands inside and outside of the lineup that one may typically compare them to. Preferred formatting, structure, etc will become clearer as the days go on I lied, go here: www.inforoo.com/thread/17461/bandaroo-template. They usually work better when actual research is done and you really put yourself in it. All of us can use Google.
I've also seen people take on bands they've never listened to before as a personal method to become thoroughly aware of and involved in a particular band.
edit. Basically what ITM said. Also, if you're gonna sign up: Actually do it. Don't be a dick.

For real. The reason this whole thing works is that people take their thread seriously. It's a little bit of work but it's a big help for people who are looking to learn more about the lineups.
I'll take on Atomic Bomb! Who is William Onyeabor? Does the council approve? Btw, you have Atmosphere and Atomic Bomb on the same line in the OP when you list the acts.

Will I be granted ample time to begin my thesis? Like you'll let me know at least a week ahead of time when I have to turn in my work? If that's the case then I'd be happy to ramble about Punch Brothers.

I will say that if you knock it out soon, you're good because it says the first one isn't until February 1st
