Sadly, I expect FlyLo versus MMJ to be the situation on Friday. I think it'll be MMJ vs. FlyLo vs. RTJ/Atmosphere/or Gibbs/Madlib that conflict will make me want to cry. I'll probably go to part of the rap show and then go watch MMJ shredddd into the morning light
I honestly think it'll be MMJ from 12:30-?, with no other act playing that stage.
So you could see the first 2 hours of MMJ's epic set, and then have a rather shotty spot for Fly Lo who I think will close a tent 2:30-4:00am. The way Fly Lo's show is, especially of late: he should be a closer.
Because of it being said that they will be treating Kendrick/deadmau5 like Stevie/Jay-Z, there will most likely be a size able gap between when Deadmau5 ends and MMJ begins (if they follow that template) And of that is the case, your best choice will be to either get a REALLY good spot for MMJ (which is always worth it) or you could catch the earlier LN show in a tent and then go catch the rest of MMJ after that first show you went to is over
So to put in perspective, CG will probably be What Stage mid-day. Flying Lotus at That Tent LN unless they have no sense. Atmosphere, shrug, probably works best on Which but could be What or That depending on time. RTJ is much more popular than it seems. Who the Fuck is G-Eazy?! and why do almost as many people want to see him..... Sadly I already knew this but Freddie Gibbs and Madlib are both pretty far off the mainstream radar - but they have rabid fans. More people need to hear Shabazz Palaces but they are on Sub Pop and don't really care about promotion. I can't explain to anyone why more people want to see SZA than Shabazz; just ain't right
Yeah, seeing these numbers makes me dislike America as a whole for their taste in music, haha. Do yourself a favor, DO NOT listen to the G-Eazy guy, he is by far the worst hip hop act on the farm. I am really just worried that Gibbs/Madlib will get an afternoon slot like Danny Brown did because of the low number of people adding them. I think they should either let Gambino play before Florence + the Machine or he should get pre-HL Which before Mumford plays. The best hip hop acts are, undoubtedly, Atmosphere, Run the Jewels, Shabazz Palaces, and Gibbs/Madlib (I don't count FlyLo as hip-hop) and they're all deserving of latenights. So they should give Shabazz a late Thursday show and then have Atmosphere and Gibbs/Madlib play LN one night and RTJ play a LN on the other night. Then just throw SZA and G-Eazy in late afternoon slots.
Last year there were three hip hop LN acts; Pusha T, Chance, and Ice Cube. Gibbs and Madlib getting the thurs LN would be good, because it would give them some more exposure. Danny Brown had a huge crowd in the afternoon on the Other, so that could easily be RTJ's fate too, but a LN for RTJ seems more likely. There's no legacy hip hop act this year, so I have no idea what they'll do in place of that.

Also by doing this, the exposure for all those bands before Slayer would be huge. I mean there has to be a reason they booked these 5 acts of heavier rock. However, it would be repetitive but so BAD ASS.

I can agree upon Shabazz closing on Thursday. And ya, I'm worried about the afternoon slot thing too because it runs up the chances of it conflicting with Earth Wind and Fire or something else in my wheelhouse. Plus too hot for all that. I hope Atmosphere and Gibbs don't play the same night so if there's a MMJ or STS9 conflict there's a way to split it.

Because of it being said that they will be treating Kendrick/deadmau5 like Stevie/Jay-Z, there will most likely be a size able gap between when Deadmau5 ends and MMJ begins (if they follow that template) And of that is the case, your best choice will be to either get a REALLY good spot for MMJ (which is always worth it) or you could catch the earlier LN show in a tent and then go catch the rest of MMJ after that first show you went to is over
Shit I just looked at the 2010 Bonnaroo schedule, and the night when Stevie/Jay-Z happened, there was no one on the Which. I can't see MMJ in a tent. Which means that MMJ vs Bassnectar on Sat is likely now. Damn. Which then means that fly lo is most likely going to throw down on Friday.

Wait wait, I'm gonna somewhat ease your worries. They said they would treat it like Stevie and Jay-Z but that really isn't comparable to me, what seems more likely to me is that they will treat it like MMJ -> Arcade Fire (except Kendrick will get 1.5 hours and Deadmau5 will get 2) In 2011, they had Lil Wayne on the Which an hour after Arcade Fire ended. Which seems most likely/reasonable to me.
It could go: What: Kendrick (8:00-9:30) -> Deadmau5 (10:30-12:30) Which LN: MMJ (1:30-3:30/whenever they want to stop)

Ah I gotcha. This would be a hell of a lot better.

In 2011 MMJ and Arcade Fire had a similar time slot as the Stevie/Jay-Z night and there was a LN Which still(lil Wayne). So Which stage act is not only possible, but id say likely. There is no way MMJ is in a tent.
I'd be pretty surprised if MMJ isn't LN Which the same night as Kendrick and Deadmau5, leaving Bassnectar to hold down the same spot after Mumford.

So then this would mean Kendrick is opposed, and Deadmau5 is unopposed?
Kendrick would only be opposed by opposed by one or two acts. If they follow 2011 exactly, then they would have one act on the Which between Kendrick and Deadmau5 and no one in any of the tents between them. Then the tents would start as soon as deadmau5 was scheduled to finish and MMJ would start an hour after deadmau5 is scheduled to finish

I just hope it's not Tears for Fears vs Kendrick, or EWF vs Kendrick. Damn. Hope it's Bleachers, because I have no desire to see them.

i tried to do a breakdown on likely places various acts might end up, split between various categories (what HL, which day, which LN, what day, tent day, tent LN). If you are super bored peruse the list and let me know if I'm way off anywhere. For a lot of acts multiple categories are chosen. Acts are listed in the order they appear on the lineup poster.
Also added a few columns for confirmations, just echoing the information collected in the schedule confirmation thread.

this is all pretty overwhelming for a new roo'er, my question is do they issue official set times as it gets closer to the festival? I know the artists I want to see but seeing actual time slots help w schedule anxiety

Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
I'm thinking they might put 21 pilots in a LN tent because the teens love them so much and they have really energetic show
Ohio tho
Is this an attempt to say their show would be too packed or something of that nature? Or just a shitty joke about Ohio sucking (both the place and board member)

Oh ok, wow, I didn't realize they pre headlined forecastle, that blows my mind. Well, they could go before Kendrick on the What or the Which (hopefully the Which) To be clear though, I do not think they'd regularly be in a tent, but because different rules apply to LN tents than regular day tents. But I guess I'm out of touch with their fanbase

Blessing in disguise.
Not even in disguise. It should be a point of pride.

Haha, that was actually my first thought when I read Rothric's post, I'm proud to say I am out of touch with their music/following. I wonder if they will have the balls to cover Mad World like they usually do even though the real group is going to be on the farm as well?

I heard that at Forecastle there were a bunch of people that got rail for twenty one pilots then immediately left after their set even though Outkast was on next. Who just passes up front row for Outkast?

Boston Calling was similar (though not Outkast). They all missed out on Spoon and Nas w/ the Roots. There was also a big crowd for the 1975 the same day on the other stage that missed a fantastic set from the Replacements. Kids these days.
EDIT: I'm 19, I can't really say that with authority, but still...

No, I'm only 20. But kids these days suck. I can't imagine passing up front row for Spoon or the Replacements and I'm not even a huge fan of them but skipping on Outkast or Nas w\ the Roots is a disgrace to our generation. Ugh, stuff like that kills me. Anyway, that's exactly why I am proud to be out of touch with them and their fans.
