Im thinking someone will open the Which after Mau5 and before Bassnectar.
I think that if this happens you will most likely be right. I hope Bonnaroo puts something like Slayer in the middle so I can watch people freak the fuck out.

i feel like the bassnectar crowd (at least some, the older ones of the bassnectar crowd) could actually enjoy slayer

Good point, some of the EDM kids would be terrified but the type of fan attracted to the darkness would love it. Would be a super cool scheduling move but I'm not counting on it.

I'm part of the Bassnectar (well, EDM in general) crowd...and I'm 31. deadmau5 > Slayer > Bassnectar would be a PERFECT Friday night!!!!! \m/
I was thinking MMJ would play Which on whatever night Deadmau5 was headlining. But if the rumors that they aren't playing Late Night are true, then I guess that's out the window.
I would think Bassnectar and Deadmau5 would be on opposite nights considering their the big EDM names. Like Kaskade and skrillex were last year.
That was the general consensus until it was noticed that Pollstar has Bassnectar on Friday. I personally still think that's a mistake also because I think my brain would explode if it's true. Saturday would be death.

I don't want to believe the hype, they need another ln show..
I'm hoping he has to cancel and winds up playing no hours.
nah its a good thing. if he cancelled i'm sure roo would just leave the which stage empty that night, its not like its a headliner they have to replace. then all those kids would end up at flying lotus taking up space and talking the whole time.
apologies for stereotyping bassnectar fans. hell i might catch some of his set depending on the schedule.

over/under on what percentage of kids with hemp snapback hats filled with "heady" hat pins will be at Bassnectar's set?

Your guess is as good as the next, but man that cat looooves pizza.
However, I just noticed that Slayer is confirmed for Saturday.
Now, how about Kendrick > Deadmau5 > Childish Gambino > Bassnectar?
I'm very okay with that.
The only real "problem" with that is that it is EXTREMELY unlikely that Bonnaroo would their top two EDM acts AND their top two hip hop acts on the same night, especially when all four of those acts are in the top 10 on the bill

To the people who would say "well ice cube was directly after Kanye last year so bassnectars totally gonna be on Friday" bassnectar is the #2 EDM artist on the lineup, ice cube was #5 behind kanye, frank ocean, wiz khalifa, and mrs. lauren hill in the rap/hip hop side of things. I highly, highly doubt he plays Friday. I would consider SBTRKT as another late Friday possibility next to flylo.
E: same could be said for childish gambino, he's number 2 in his genre so I'd lean towards a Saturday show.

At least one person besides me is thinking logically

and it was extremely unlikely that they'd give a late night slot to a van halen cover band...their scheduling has been wildly illogical before and it could happen again

I can kind of see where you and others are coming from with this, but the more I think about it the more I wonder would it really be that big a deal? What's the incentive for Bonnaroo to spread their genres out across multiple days? They don't need to sell multiple days to hip-hop/EDM fans, because they already bought a four day pass. Roo already has their money. Worse case scenario those niche fans bail after the friday and deprive bonnaroo of beer/merch sales for the next two days, but I'd consider that to be a very odd fan. I think most people who can take the environment will hang out till at least Sunday just for the party, even if there was miraculously zero acts you wanted to see for the rest of the weekend.
If you look at it from a non-business standpoint, sure it'd be nice creatively to have the different genres spread out across multiple days, but even with those heavy hitters on the first day its not like there is zero hip-hop and EDM for the rest of the weekend.
I'm in no way advocating or predicting Kendrick > deadmau5 > gambino > bassnectar, I just wouldn't consider it impossible. I bet there is a good chunk of fans who would be beyond thrilled with such a sequence of artists.

It's crazy the way the word "unlikely" works, isn't it? It says that something probably won't happen, but there is indeed a chance that it could. But, while we are comparing the two situations, let's put out that the problem with having all of Bassnectar, Kendrick, Gambino, and Deadmau5 on the same night has to do with the billing of those acts and AC's tendency to disperse each genre (especially the bigger names) fairly evenly across the entirety of the weekend. And the problem with putting the van halen cover band in a LN slot was that the group sucked and they even admit that it was an awful idea and wish they hadn't done it. But thank you for pointing out that something could happen with the simple logic that they've done crazy shit before with the schedule. You know, following that logic... Guys, I think they're gonna have Billy Joel close the Which stage and have Caribou headline the What stage Sunday with Shabazz Palaces as his pre-HL.
This is almost as stupid as the time you tried to call Beck out for winning AOTY because you thought Beyoncé deserved it.

Thank you postjack for using logic. You make a great point. Honestly, aside from just spreading the acts for the sake of having a balanced weekend, booking Friday as Kendrick -> Deadmau5 -> Childish Gambino -> Bassnectar could really help Friday's single day ticket sales because of how many people would love to attend that string of shows.

am I missing something here? there are no single day tickets...

There are but only if purchased with the bus trip from Nashville.
