Bassnectar is leading mau5 in likes by 25 on the new updated app. Somehow the Bluegrass SuperJam has 1,450 likes while the Mumfords are in second place with only 534 and Rudimental is right behind them. I'm one of only seven people who have liked Hiss Golden Messenger.

The Superjam and Rudimental have so many likes because the likes most likely carried over from last years app. That's why they have such a high amount of likes.
After thinking on it, there are some surprises and some that I really expected. Atomic Bomb! being low is not shocking at all. If they add some names to it on the line-up (especially if it's David Byrne), that will jump considerably. I am personally surprised about Sturgill Simpson. He's been doing really well with ticket sales on his latest tour. He sold out the 600 seat theatre he is playing here two months ago, and he moved venues for his upcoming Detroit show due to demand. I'm not saying I am totally sold on where he is on the lineup, but 32 spots lower is crazy talk.
Sturgill is up for a Grammy, so if he wins I can see his popularity rise.
For some reason this comment popped into my head this morning, so I decided to look up all the nominations for Best Country Album. I was surprised to see that Stugill was not there! They put him into the "Americana" category, which doesn't bother me as the country category is brought down by mainstream garbage. It just struck me as odd. Nominations in the country category do include Brandy Clark (seems more like Americana) and Eric Church (who made a rock album). Still it's more recognition than he's getting from the country specific awards like the CMAs. The politicking and popularity pandering in awards just irks me. Sorry if this was way off topic. /end rant/
I keep coming back to this thread out of curiosity. I've done this mentally since I went to Lolla in 2010, so it's always interesting to compare placement to actual/proposed interest based on the people using the applications.
Basically what I'm saying is that looking at things this way is an awesome way to get excited about how few people are gonna be at that Atomic Bomb! show and how truly killer it's gonna be.

Updated the OP.
Some artists are becoming relatively more popular, so they might be getting larger crowds. These are: Awolnation Glass Animals ODESZA Rhiannon Giddens Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear
Some artists are getting passed in the rankings and are becoming less popular (maybe smaller crowds?). These are: Slayer Iceage Atomic Bomb DMA's The Very Best
I anticipate that by the time Roo comes round, Odesza and Glass Animals will both be pretty high up there. Add JUNGLE to that list. Most likely all gonna be packed Thursday night shows.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

ODESZA definitely won't play Thursday, I see them in an evening tent slot. Rustie seems like a more fitting EDM act for Thursday.

I forgot about Rustie. You're right - and I'm happy to realize Odesza prob won't be Thursday.

Good news for all you Atomic Bomb fans out there!
I think it's pretty clear that Slayer was a weak signing. Last year the highest billed Metal artist was Mastodon, which seems way more appropriate. Seriously, I get wanting diversity of genre, but the #13 artist in an otherwise soft lineup?...

I'm definitely excited for Slayer, but I would prefer that a metal band #13 on the lineup be Iron Maiden instead. While I'm on the topic of metal, here's their bands' estimated crowd sizes that are probably wrong but interesting anyway:
Slayer - 12,730 Between the Buried & Me - 4,585 Unlocking the Truth - 2,318 Pallbearer - 1,497
This method also predicts Mumford (#1) will have 51,328 people and that Florence + the Machine will be #2 with 47,724. So take that however you wish.

Here's a strange fact. Over the past 8 days there have been 39 artists on the lineup whose estimated crowd sizes have been increasing consistently over that time period (others had no change, fluctuated, or fell). NONE of these 39 artists are in the Top 25.
Glass Animals have hit commercial in Boston in the last few weeks with "Gooey" and now it is inescapable. They'd been on the college stations last summer and fall. I'd say there is a lot of room for them to keep moving up.

That makes sense. Bands lower on the lineup aren't going to be as widely recognized. Since the lineup has been released, people have started doing their research and discovered some new bands.
I really do like all this stat stuff, keep it up And looking forward to the detailed weather analyses when we get closer! I'm definitely a numbers nerd like that.

As far as Atomic Bomb goes:
Solo artists who are best known for their work in a specific band always draw surprisingly low crowds. Think Damon Albarn last year, or John Fogerty a few years ago. I have no doubt Gorillaz would headline, and either Blur or CCR would be a massive draw *in a way that Damon Albarn or John Fogerty isn't*. A lot of people just don't recognize who they are.
With Atomic Bomb, we take that to another level. The biggest draw here is David Byrne -- at the helm of a supergroup playing songs by a (at least in the west) obscure Nigerian artist. Talking Heads would be a headliner for the ages. David Byrne is a Which closer. Another group fronted by him, lacking significant name recognition, is potentially a tent act.
Of course, I think Atomic Bomb's numbers might spike when they give us the names involved. David Byrne + a few more recognizable names is going to generate far more interest than 'mysterious project involving Nigerian keyboardist'.
And as far as Slayer goes, it's a huge get among metal fans. Among non-metal fans, it's a show to avoid. Metal's something of a niche genre. I have no doubt Slayer will draw a big crowd, but the genre itself is going to be an immediate turn-off for most of the people at Bonnaroo.

Glass Animals is going to be packed like Alt-J was in 2013. They sold out a 4000 seat theater here in Kansas City back in December with Bleachers.

Yea I live in Austin and Glass Animals have been really buzzing around here the last four months or so. When they came here in December they were supposed to play a 500 person venue, but their hype outgrew the place and they had to move the show.
They are quickly becoming the quintessential hipster sorority girl band of 2015.

Today I looked at how much each artists' virtual crowd changed over 8 days (1/27 to 2/4) and compared that to their current crowd size to see which shows people are "arriving at" and which shows people are "leaving". I'm old and out of touch, but this listing of the same lineup makes me realize how strong this year is for acts.
edit: and yes, i've basically justed moved MMJ into headliner status.

This was a really good idea for a thread. It made me want to see the lineup if it was placed in order of popularity...so I decided to make it myself. Popularity of each artist = the # of adds to people's personal line-up/schedule on Bonnaroo's website. Note that Ed Helms number would not show for some reason so he's not in the lineup below. (As of 02/12/15)
Mumford & Sons * Florence + The Machine * Billy Joel * Kendrick Lamar * Childish Gambino * Deadmau5 * Earth Wind & Fire * Hozier * Bassnectar * Alabama Shakes * Robert Plant & The Sensational Space Shifters * Awolnation * My Morning Jacket * Flume * Twenty One Pilots * Spoon * Tove Lo * Ben Folds & YMusic * Tears For Fears * Flying Lotus * Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals * Odesza * Atmosphere * Gary Clark Jr. * Glass Animals * Superjam! * The War on Drugs * SBTRKT * Bleachers * STS9 * Run The Jewels * Trampled By Turtles * Belle & Sebastian * G-Eazy * Gramatik * Moon Taxi * Tycho * Slayer * Caribou * Mac DeMarco * Guster * Sylvan Esso * Shakey Graves * Dawes * Jamie XX * Punch Brothers * Against Me! * SOJA * Rudimental * Brandi Carlile * MØ * Bela Fleck & Abigail Washburn * Royal Blood * Freddie Gibbs & Madlib * SZA * Bahamas * Jungle * Temples * Unknown Mortal Orchestra * Medeski, Scofield, Martin, & Wood * Gregory Alan Isakov * Houndmouth * Catfish & The Bottlemen * The Growlers * Benjamin Booker * Between The Buried & Me * Atomic Bomb! I'm making a new tab every 4 days up until Roo (hopefully I can hold myself to that, more or less), so I'll try to get some info to y'all about whose crowds are growing & shrinking as time passes. Kind of a pain to hover, go back to Excel, type, go back to the site over & over again, but such is the way of things.
