The Watch's year end wrap up episode with Jason Mantzoukas dropped yesterday. this is always such a great listen, i forget through all the humor and wild characters that Mantzoukas is a really intelligent and thoughtful person. I haven't quite finished the episode but it's a wide ranging discussion about what Jason, Chris, and Andy watched and listened to this year, how that changed relative to prior years, and predictions on what a post-Covid world means for the future of tv, films, and music.
even if you aren't familiar with The Watch, this is a great place to start. in fact i think a year end episode with Jason was one of the first episodes I listened to a few years back, and I've been a regular listener ever since.
also a couple weeks ago they did their other annual tradition of ranking their top ten TV shows of the year with Sam Esmail, always a fascinating episode. Recommended.

The amount of content that Zouks has consumed this year is just STAGGERING. I wrote down a few of the things he mentioned, especially that jazz house documentary.
If you want to hear a completely different side of Jason Mantzoukas then check out this Aquarium Drunkard podcast. Basically, when Jason was right out of college he got a grant to go study Tuareg music. That was the first time I ever heard him be completely serious for an hour and talk about something other than comedy. Spoiler ... it's a delight.

Love the watch. Been listening since the grantland days!

i don't go back that far, think i've been listening for 3-4 years maybe? but i love my bi-weekly hangs with Chris and Andy. i think Andy in particular is a truly gifted podcaster. he's really clever and funny and is just a great speaker.
kind of ashamed i haven't watched all of Briarpatch yet lol.

I love Andy, but CR is my guy. He’s a hoot. Love Andy’s takes on Mando. I’m a bad listener because I still haven’t started Briarpatch lol. I started listening to them for the Mad Men recaps
I'm so confused by the Flagrant Ones updates, especially because I thought Masterclass would be included, might have gotten that confused with Pro Version, and that (Masterclass) was what I really wanted to hear.
Also, maybe I just assumed this, but the backlog of Pro isn't available as of now either. Going forward, Pro version will be updated on the RSS, but they're still negotiating with Earwolf for the catalog or something.
Also, Stitcher is just buffering indefinitely and won't play the episodes, even after signing in, so Idk if they've already been removed or what.
Also, I copied the new RSS into my pod app and the Ads version episodes are all showing up but blank and I can only listen to them by streaming them through the acast (whatever third party service they're using to bridge this gap) website. Pretty frustrating overall, but I guess I'm listening to the Wendigabrus episode now.

Masterclass is coming. Probably just something to work on. They're also working on bringing over Reality Show Show
Chef Kevin responded to this in a reddit thread where someone asked about Masterclass: Yes, season 3 will be released this year as well as the previous 2 seasons.

Holy shit. So much Flagrant podcast coming.
Apparently Carl talks with his cousing is just legit conversations with his cousin. Read good things but haven't listened.
Now that so much HH/HH Pro/Flagrant + Video stuff I'm behind
Hollywood Handbook with Jake Johnson who was the first guest on the original show and is the first on the new one is fantastic. Jake bringing up his first appearance and it spirling out of control is why I love this stupid shit. The callback to "Mr. Schmidt" alone had me smiling for minutes

I love having video of the boys and Kevin now. The first pro version has extra footage not in the podcast before they record as they wait for Hayes to show up. Awesome.
with gourley and rust is back in the free feed this week! i've never seen any of the alien movies, and most of them are on hbomax.
I'm more into Alien than most of the horrors they've done. This is great. They're very good and pretty different from each other. 1 is more horror. 2 is more action. 3 has some flaws but also an interesting story.
Supposedly James Cameron's pitch for Aliens was that he walked into a board room where there was already a white board with "ALIEN" written on it. Then he drew an "S" after it. Then he drew a line through the S to make a dollar sign. Then he left. Legendary.

Once again, there's extra video footage before the Hollywood Handbook pro version so if you signed up for the $10 tier check that out. There's almost 10 minutes where we see the boys & kevin watch the beginning of a few trailers to pick out which teaser freezer they are going to do. Very happy I got this package. Even though it's just video of people talking into mics I enjoy seeing how much they all enjoy each others jokes (and especially how much they love their own jokes).

Five minutes into HH with guests Carl and his cousin is fantastic. Everyone riffing on Coke Zero cracked me up. Sean's note about his dad asking him, when he'd see his cat on his lap "Hey......who's your buddy?" to get Carl to introduce his cousin is so fucking dumb but it killed everyone.

the entire part about kevin's cousin's covid wedding really got me, starting with sean describing it as "the red wedding in slow motion." carl adding bible verses to the card was so good.

Just my regular update that the Patreon for Flagrant Ones/Hollywood Handbook/Carl Calls his Cousin video tier is worth it. Another couple extra minutes in the video before the actual pro HH episode where they did a teaser freezer. In the beginning of the episode when Hayes points out how he and Sean look like they "just came from the docks" and are "lunch pail podcasters" because they both are bundled up, wearing their hats and have beards immediately made me think "Well when I get home I have to pull up the video now" lol

And now i'm on the first livestream of the boys watching a game. They all have hats on (except Andy who is using a hood) and they just let a fan hop on cam because he has a hat as well.
