I'm looking forward to their show. I loved the first set at Bonnaroo and have enjoyed a ton of Brittany Howard guest appearances at festivals in the past so I'm expecting some more this year. Curious to see how their new album sounds and I'm ready to see them live after hearing good reviews of their Shaky Knees set last year.

I'm liking the new track! I wasn't a fan of their first album at all but holy shit I was blown away by Brittany during the Bustle In Your Hedgerow set. Since then I've seen live stuff that really impressed me. I've been thinking of them as one of those bands that sound terrible on tape but kill it live. That being said, I actually really like this new track & will be checking out the whole album.

This is another great guest spot she has done. I have this on vinyl at home and it's fantastic.

Cool! I'm predicting she'll be all over the farm this year & it will be awesome.

I have always felt like that a live performance of these guys totally blows away their recorded stuff (which is good by the way). I expect a pretty big crowd for this one and am so looking forward to it!

I'm really looking forward to this show, just chill in the back of one of the fields with my friends with plenty of room to dance and lay down if so desired. It's going to great

I don't get the hype with these guys. She's got an incredible voice, no doubt about it and the band can keep a beat but ...
And before you chastise me, I've seen them twice and will likely be at the set this year but being billed as high as they are seems totally out of whack.
Brittany seems like someone who would be best suited for a Muscle Shoals type of environment with killer session players. The band she's with just doesn't have the chops to keep up with her.

I love the new song, I'm sure it's gonna sound even better live.
DrTech -- I agree with you here. I've seen the Shakes a few times. She's great and always puts on a killer show. I can't help but think she would stand out and be a superstar if her band was a bit better. I suspect at some point in the near future we'll see Brittany go solo and hopefully surround herself with some insanely talented players.

Not everyone likes the same music. It's totally okay! That's why there are options.
I am psyched to see them. Definitely in my top 5!
The MMJ clip was outrageous. I hope they are in a Super Jam together.

I totally agree. I think they're a solid band and I think she's an incredible talent, but I don't see them as a person's favorite band. And I think most artists at their level tend to be those types or artists. My hope is that their new album ventures into territory that allows the band to do more so that they can prove they deserve her as their frontwoman
There are a lot of bands I like that are putting out new albums this year, but if the rest of Alabama Shakes new album is as good as the two singles they've put out so far, it's going to blow everyone else away. I loved the Boys and Girls album but "Don't Wanna Fight" might be the best song they have put out so far. And they absolutely killed it to "Gimme All Your Love" on Saturday Night Live. I very much planned to be at their set but the closer we get to Bonnaroo the more and more of a priority they are becoming for me. Can't miss this one!
10/19/14-Phantogram
11/29/14-New Politics, Bad Suns
4/17/15-Hippo Campus, Night Riots, The Mowglis
5/1/15-Penn State Movin' On Music Festival-New Politics, Passion Pit, Big Gigantic, Big Sean
6/11/15-6/14/15-Bonnaroo!
6/21/15 - Paul McCartney

I had originally quickly previewed a few of their songs when the lineup was announced. At the time, didn't think much of them, and probably wasn't going to make my list of must sees. But upon seeing this past weekends SNL episode and watching both of their performances, I will definitely be seeing them at roo. I was completely blown away by their performance!
Love the Shakes. I agree with many here saying that Brittany Howard is the power and the draw...the band behind her is capable, but not standout. But, Howard more than makes up for that. I will say this, seeing the SNL performance made me believe that all their touring has started to elevate the entire band's musicianship. The addition of the second keyboard and three back-up singers improves their already great sound. And those new songs...holy crap! They are going to burn a stage to the ground. I'd also expect to see Brittany and Yim pop up at each others sets. Dreams do come true.
After "Don't Wanna Fight" dropped, it was exactly what I expected from the band -- a catchy, simple and radio-friendly single -- and I thought the rest of the album would sound the same. What I was not expecting was that the next two singles would be so fucking kickass. "Gimme All Your Love" is fucking amazing -- like Otis Redding and My Morning Jacket in a blender -- and "Future People" is possibly the best Brittany's voice has ever sounded. Who knew she had such a high falsetto?! And that fabulous Blake Mills production cuts in all the right ways. SO PUMPED for this album and a whole summer of Shakes shows.
