C'mon guys, Drake is better than Foster the People. I know you hate the guy, but let's look at this objectively....
Anything > Pumped Up Kicks
Objectively? Pssh. I'm not exactly a Foster the People fan, but at least Pumped Up Kicks has a killer bassline and melody, which is far more than I can say for anything in Disney Drizzy Drake's pity party playlist.

No, that's definitely not someone rolling their eyes, that is someone who feels awkward or they're trying to hide something and they're acting suspicious so they are trying not to look someone/something so they are looking every other direction so that they don't have to confront the person or thing they are avoiding

You put way too much thought into that.
That is an "I'm richer than you are and have a big fucking RV" eye roll.
Happy Selection Sunday everyone! Don't forget today is also the last day to vote or finalize your picks for Region 1. We've got a couple of super tight contests so every vote counts. I will be posting Region 2's bracket and poll tomorrow so check back then to find out who the winners are and voice your opinion on our next batch of matchups.
Agreed. I don't really care for Drake, but I do think he's better than FtP. I can't help but think that at least some of those votes were made simply because it's cool to not like Drake.

Exactly. I'm sure a lot of people that voted FTP haven't even listened to Drake.
And honestly I wasn't that big of a Drake fan until If You're Reading This Its Too Late. Man that album is too good.

What's the motive behind the recent wave of Drake defense? I've never had a problem with him, but it seems odd to got to such lengths to defend a mediocre rapper.
nothing recent about it, Drake has been consistently great and people have recognized that for years
TBH I'm not going to great lengths to defend him in this thread, I already said my piece on him a while back. If someone wants to say dumbass bullshit like Foster the People have more great dance tracks than Drake, I really don't have anything more to say than "You're wrong."
Drake is the biggest rapper out there right now. He's a great rapper who has changed the musical and thematic content of hip hop and influenced a slew of followers. A lot of people recognize that. There's certainly no consensus that Drake is mediocre.
If people here prefer generic indie pop garbage to Drake, it just reflects their own ignorance. Same goes for picking a rock group that hit their peak on their debut album 15 years ago over one of the hottest rising groups in hip hop, known for putting on a banging live show.

The motivation is the fact that he he doesn't make mediocre music. He's not my favorite rapper, but he's got some great songs, great production, and is respected by his peers, the general public and basically everyone but a handful of idiots on the internet who thing they're comedians. His best work tends toward the slow-jam end of the spectrum, and I get people not being into that, but to pretend his work is mediocre is just ignorant.
With Drake's latest album breaking Billboard chart records throughout last week, 50 Cent recently spoke with XXL and commended the release and hinted that the Toronto rapper is currently at the top of his game.
“His mixtape reflects that,” 50 told XXL. “But boy, that nigga was on point, wasn’t he? He came through there with his shit sharp. It was tight.”
Pusha T rapper did have kind words for his other Young Money foil, however, praising the output he's heard from Drake.
"Drake be rhymin', Drake be bustin'" he said. "He be gettin' busy. He says his peace and I like that."
“I look at Drake like an amazing sparring partner.” - Kanye

I think Drake is a fine artist and any time he releases a song I expect it to be good. However, I judge artists on their albums and overall discography. He lets me down EVERY TIME an album drops, but I listen to plenty of individual songs from him. FTR I think he's a better rapper than RNB artist. I'm a little suspicious of this wave of defense coming after he was announced for coach. I have a feeling if coach got kendrick and Roo got Drake... that roo would have "got Draked" according to you guys without thinking twice about putting energy into defending the booking.

I'd sure as shit rather see Kendrick than Drake. Or Kanye, or Jay-Z. I've never said otherwise. But all this nonsense about him being some no-talent punchline begs for a response.

Seriously. Take a look at the first four tracks on his latest album. Would anyone blink an eye if you said Legend, Energy,10 Bands, or Know Yourself was the hottest track of the year? The guy pumps out quality hits like its nothing

I probably agree with both of your opinions about Drake. I still didn't see the defense until recently and I'm curious what has changed other than him hitting the festivals, most importantly Coachella. That and he just put out a decent... or good... but nowhere near great album.

Naw, it's not a Coachella thing in particular. It's just that he's playing mainstream fests for basically the first time (see also Gov Ball), so now his name is coming up more on forums like this.
Edit: People on the Coachella forum are slingin' the same bullshit about Young Garnier Fructis

My curiosity has been satisfied by your responses. My life will now move in a new direction.
When Drake starts making all time top 10 lists I'll be back.

With 3 acts advancing, Bonnaroo artists fared much better in Region 2 than they did in Region 1. I also personally did better this time out with 6/8 of my picks advancing. There are 6 Bonnaroo artists competing in Region 3.
