Thanks, I'll add that to the orignal post. I'm interested to see what they throw together. If done right, this could be a pretty cool festival. Sloss Furnace would be a killer venue - I'm interested to see what kind of vibe they will be going for here. In the fall months, Sloss Furnace hosts one of the biggest haunted attractions in the area.

Usually shows at Sloss top out around 5,000. It's not that big a venue (assuming they are doing it where you would see a normal Sloss show). Alabama Shakes sold out 2 nights there a year or two ago.

Yeah, but I would assume that they have some sort of plan that would increase capacity. The grounds for Sloss Furnace are pretty big - maybe that 5,000 capacity stage will be used as one stage or something. I can't see the capacity for the whole festival being 5,000 atendees.
Yeah, I meant uber popular bullshit EDM that is at every major fest. Not electronic bands.
I'd be okay with EDM not being at any festivals I attend.
It pisses me off to no end that Voodoo and Hangout, the 2 major fests that are closest to where I live, waste so much of their booking budget on it now.

I guess it's the hot thing to have at fests right now. Not too long ago Widespread Panic and the jam scene would have been littered all over the lineup, now it's on to EDM. I'll be glad when this genre phase is over - it's almost just as bad as the dubstep craze a few years ago.

I was at the Alabama Shakes show. They could have easily packed more folks in. I'm interested in seeing how this pans out.
According to the article on AL.com, today is the day that we get a press conference. I'm not sure what time it is going to be or anything, so I'm just going to be checking various news sources throughout the day.
