I've said the entire runoff that I actually am not convinced any of the four of us were mafia (if I had to pick one it would have been Krissy), but when deciding between me and Jaz, from my point of view Jaz has to be the most likely to be mafia, because I'm a townie.
Frankly, I think the mafia are happy either way here, as their disadvantage will go from 8-3 to 6-3 as soon as the whack is made.
Yep - I think if one of the four of us were the Mafia, Krissy is most likely. Wish she'd been in the final run off, but what can ya do!
Also, question: so you guys play where the whack occurs after the lynching of that day? Or have the Mafia already decided who dies for this round? I know the way that I've always played in person, but the OP is a little vague about the timing of it with this online version.
We will finish the lynching tonight, then enter "night" of the game. During the "night", mafia submits a whack and inspector submits a guess (inspector doesn't get to know whether they are right or wrong if they are the whack). There's usually a time limit on the "night". Once the whack and guess are in, the ref will disclose the whack and then Day 2 will begin.
Gotcha, that's what I presumed. In-person games generally begin with a whack from the start, so that then people can have more to go off of in guessing Mafia when they "wake up" for the first day, but online, that doesn't make as much sense since it would disallow one player from participating even a little bit, if they're killed before shit even really starts.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
I know I've been called out for talking too much, but since the round ends in six and a half hours and I stand to get voted off anyway, I see no reason to stop now - I don't think anyone who wants to vote me off because of my talkativeness is gonna have their mind changed in that regard anyway. I kinda want to waited until Tainted posts his vote but I also want to get this out there early enough for people to see it, especially since Tainted says he's leaning towards voting for me. I'm writing this post under the assumption that Tainted is going to vote for me, because I believe that's what he's going to do, and all too often I've seen Mafia appear hesitant to make a vote so that it's not obvious that they knew who they were going to vote for all along.
I continue to be wary of something nefarious in relation to potent/Jim/Tainted. As I've said before, in this game the votes count more than the discussion - because we know that three people are bullshitting, but their vote has actual real-game consequences. Potent saving Tainted from the runoff concerns me. I fully admit that having a five-person runoff is probably a bit overkill, but it also would have given us more votes to look at. Since we were at a five-person runoff already, I don't see why it was necessary to narrow it down arbitrarily. Some people believe that a larger runoff gives the Mafia more space to hide, and while that may be true at first, the runoff will have to narrow eventually, so it's not like they could hide forever. Potent saving Tainted from the runoff could very well have been well-intended and innocently in the pursuit of not having a 5-person runoff, but we can't ignore that it has a direct effect on the game - it gives Tainted a free pass into the next round. Now, in the last round, the person that potent directly saved is leaning towards directly saving potent. I also want to point out that potent's call to have us lynch him outright would have given us less votes to look at, and it would also would have kept under wraps the identity of anyone trying to save him now...such as Tainted.
There's also Tainted's "just kidding" vote where he moved from Krissy to Rummy, which would have given us the same scenario we have now - a Potent/Jazmo runoff, which would again give Tainted the opportunity to potentially vote me off instead of Potent, just a little sooner in the game. Even though I do believe that it was a joke gone awry, it's the votes that matter, and they have to be looked at. This also would have directly saved Krissy from the runoff - but I'll bring this up later. I feel hesitant to bring these things up, because if Tainted is town, then he's likely going to think "That isn't what's happening here, so Jazmo must be bullshitting" and vote for me. If that's the case, then I'm sorry Tainted for accusing you and I'm sorry town for misleading you. I play a fairly transparent game and I say what's on my mind when I see it, and this is what I see.
In the first round, when potent moved his vote off of me and onto Tainted, Jim immediately replaced potent's vote with his, keeping me in the runoff. That made sense to me, as I assumed Jim was wary of a Potent/Jazmo connection and wanted to make sure I wasn't being saved. That's all fine and dandy. But when Potent does the exact same thing to Tainted, there's no mention of it by Jim at all. In fact, Jim "clears" him, because apparently this is just potent's playing style. He says that there's nothing alarming except for potent's voting - aka the only things that matter in this game: the votes.
Then later in the game, Jim claims to have done a 180 on potent, but his votes do not reflect that at all. Instead, he locks on me. He said he wanted a Krissy/Potent runoff, but instead of moving his vote when he had a very real opportunity to do so, he let the deadline pass. This is an incredibly massive departure of word and action to me. He had the opportunity to ensure that the two people who he said he was most suspicious of were in the runoff, but opted not to go for it. Krissy has been saved, and we have a Jazmo/Potent runoff instead - the same thing we would have had it Tainted's "joke" vote had counted. Again, I'm hesitant to bring this up because if Jim is indeed a townie suspicious of potent more than me and plans on moving his vote, he might read this and say "Fuck this guy accusing me of shit that isn't true" and decide to keep his vote for me instead. But so it goes.
I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place here because Tainted's vote isn't in yet, so I probably don't want to get on his bad side, and since I'm essentially calling out Jim to stay congruent with what he said about being suspicious with potent and move his vote accordingly, I probably don't want to get on his bad side either. However, I feel like if I'm going to get lynched, it's my responsibility to show the town the connections I see and let the chips fall where they land. I've played this entire game this way, and I've drawn heat for it. I've voted for who I'm suspicious of, and have given my reasoning throughout this entire game. I understand that playing aggressively will bring attention to me, and it may ultimately be my undoing. I'm not a "Hey let's get some beers at Bonnaroo" type of player like Potent is, and maybe that makes me suspicious or rubs people the wrong way. But fuck 'em. I straightforwardly tell the town what I see, even if it means of accusing the people I feel I need votes from. If I get lynched, so be it.
The things that matter in this game are the votes. I haven't voted erratically, and I've explicitly stated why each time. If by the end of the game it turns out that I'm way off and everyone I've accused is town, I'm sorry. It's not and never has been my aim to throw off the town. But what I see makes sense to me - and that's all I have to offer.
If I get lynched, keep an eye on potent, Jim, Tainted, and Krissy.

Yeah I'm town but time will prove that. I can agree with your suspicions, and can see how you drew the conclusions you did. I'm no less paranoid at potent and Jim and Krissy than you, but I've had questions about you since day one and you're the only one left. Potent would not take his vote off to save me, as I'm not mafia and I don't see the move as having been beneficial in that respect. I'm basing my decision on logic, and if you look at things from my point of view especially as town, I'm sure you'll see why I'm voting this way.
Son of a Beek would you please explain why you've kept your vote on me all game, after saying that you find Potent most suspicious, and that you prefer a Krissy/Potent runoff? This is the second runoff in a row that your vote has not matched your statements.

Also if you want to just say "Hey, I haven't been keeping up with the thread", and then move your vote to Potent, that's perfectly fine too.

Hey, I haven't been keeping up with the thread. Based on what I had read up to I'd rather Potent be voted off with you, but I'll go over the threas again to make sure.

This round has been really weird. Everyone was suspicious of Krissy and Potent, and then all of a sudden everyone moved to Jazmo. I was initially kind of suspicious of Jazmo but the way this round has gone I'm starting to think differently. It really rubs me the wrong way how quickly everyone shifted to Jazmo

Look, townies are probably going to die, so if I am lynched, so be it - I've said this since I was on the hot seat.
But, DAMN SON, this looks shady. You make it look like you and I are working together by moving your vote to Jazmo (JAZMO) after I moved off of him. Jaz starts attacking me and making people believe I'm mafia. You CLEAR me which causes all kinds of red flags - for Jaz (and others, admittedly). You stay on Jaz despite saying others are more suspicious. Jaz goes on a rant (possibly taking a personal shot at me, but it's all good, I don't take this too seriously) and begs for you to switch your vote, you say you need to review the thread (which is not believable - you're extremely active on this board, anybody just needs to look at your recent activity to verify this), and then with 64 minutes left until the deadline, you switch THE DECIDING VOTE from Jaz to me.
I've been saying all round I didn't think Jaz was mafia. But this move? Straight gangsta. If I die in the next (now) 54 minutes, please please please townies do not believe you got a mafia, I am a townie, I have no problem dying but I want to help the town win.

Who is "everyone" shifting? It's a two person run off. Whose reason don't you believe?
This is a big move to make with half a paragraph and less than an hour to go. If you feel sure enough to decide for everybody, I think we deserve more.
I really don't know what Jim's motive is here. What I do know is that at 5 votes on Krissy, the game died down. Then when it came to voting between potent and jaz, there was a massive shift to Jaz. To me it feels like mafia wants potent to survive. And for that reason, I'm keeping my vote where it's at.
Having said all that, I think it's unfair to end a round within an hour of a dispositive vote change. I think everyone should at least be given a chance to see this is happening. Then again, I'm not the ref.
Potent - you wanted to go earlier in this day for the good of the town. What changed? I'm starting rehearsal so won't be able to check in
The only thing that changed was some people, including you, thought it was better for the town to get more voting. I was afraid of two things, first that we didn't have any mafia in the runoff, and second that more talking would only serve to give mafia more cover. I took your point about more votes (and a vote split) seriously, plus there wasn't anything I could do, this town was not going to let me go out peacefully.
It hasn't changed that I'm willing to die for the town, I've said it repeatedly, someone has to die first, I've just asked true townies to view my death as a town death, not a mafia, because viewing me as a mafia member will not help the town win.
This last hour move by Jim also leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. No reasons even given. It looks a lot like when you were mafia with him in 76.

The mafia doesn't mind if I survive because they know I've got no chance of surviving Day 2 (and consequently I have every chance of suriving Night 1 - there's no way the mafia would whack me). If Jaz is town, they want me to survive because they'd have 4 town dead before we'd even sniff a mafia person.
Only two have "shifted". Three votes were freed up on a 4 - 4 run off.
Free votes came down 2 for jaz, one for pot 1.
Only two players switched this round and both were away from jazmo.
You mean, Jazmo was stacked up to 6 and there was barely any activity for an entire day. Then after the town got cold feet from fear that mafia was patiently waiting out the lynching of a townie, some players came to their senses and switched to Potent. (It's all relative).
You've been very quiet JFG. I'm curious why you feel Jazmo should be lynched over potent. Please elaborate. I'm open minded.

Should we let jim answer my question before you try to move on to something else?
fawnmart, consider this a second to jimmyroo's suggestion for an extension.
I think both you and Jim should explain yourselves. I don't see what startegic advantage you're trying to gain by waiting for him to answer first, though.
To respond to Jimmyroo, it is not unfair to end a round when the day and time has been clearly stated with more than ample notice. I am going to review the last hour one more time and make a decision on an extension in the next 3-4 minutes. At this time assume there will Not be an extension.

Im blown away by the late move by Jim, and third an extension for everyone to be able to read through and absorb everything occurring. What a clusterfuck man.
My pre determined voting pattern. I hadn't even read through the thread when I voted other than to look to see who was after me in the initial lineup and weather or not it would have overstacked.
Based on there being a significant vote change within an hour of the deadline, with players clearly stating unavailability this evening, and active conversation with substance, the deadline is extended to 'tomorrow morning'. To avoid possible last minute game play, the 'tomorrow morning' game end time will be sometime after sunrise but before I leave for work. Get your game on tonight players and speak your peace before pillow time.
