Well, apparently I'm going to be in the runoff. If that's the case, I'd rather be in with someone other than Jazmo so I'm changing my vote.
There were two people that stacked right off the bat (before JFG and Jimmy stacked on me). I think Rummaging stacking on Jaz makes sense - it's her first game, he voted for her, and if she were mafia there probably would have been discussions about stacking and it wouldn't have happened that early. I think Rummaging is a townie based on that.
Tainted Oppossum stacked on Krissy for no reason. He said his vote could move, so if he does I will take that into consideration. Until then...
potent >>> jazmo >>> tainted oppossum
While I understand your reasoning, I don't think giving Jazmo a free pass makes sense. There's still one person who hasn't voted, and there's always the possibility that rummaging could be playing the "new and clueless card."

Like I said in a post above, I'm suspicious of 9.5 of you, so yeah I'm still a little suspicious of Rummaging. I was playing a gut feeling, nothing more than that.
I might have missed it, but why someone other than Jazmo?
Just a gut feeling. Really nothing other than that, other than I know why he had two votes and I don't feel either is legit. Could Jaz be mafia? Sure. As far as I'm concerned, I'm suspicious of 9.5 of you (even though Rummaging made a move making me think she's town, I'm still half suspicious). Just going with my gut here.
I'm not following you. "Know[ing] why had two votes" isn't a gut feeling. Your wording was "I'd rather be in with someone other than Jazmo" which is different from "I'm suspicious of the people voting for Jazmo". I really don't make sense of your decision-making.

Well, there were two people voting for you. I was one of them. I'm not suspicious of myself. The gut feeling was that Rummaging is not mafia. If she was, I don't think she would have stacked on you so quickly. That's my gut feeling.
So less than 24 hours into the game, rummaging reciprocating a vote (an incredibly common first-round strategy by Mafia and non-Mafia alike) that ended up being a stack is enough for you to stop being suspicious of her? That's fair enough rationale I suppose, but in the future I'm going to be wary of your gut feelings, since you appear to be fine with making moves based on very little.

That still doesn't make Jazmo any less suspicious.
So Jazmo and rummaging had less decision making pull than some other reason that made you to change your vote over to tainted opossum?

I think I stated twice that I'm still suspicious of Jaz.
I don't really understand your second question. But I will state again as clearly as possible - my vote for Jaz was because he was 4th in the list, nothing more than that. Rummaging stacked on him which I wrote off as a new player making her first vote. Could I be wrong? Sure. But Rummaging voting for Jaz did two things - make me believe she was town (based on information we currently have) and want to move my vote. I then moved to Tainted Oppossum because he also stacked early.

I actually feel like in the last two games it took a ton for me to do anything, and I was pretty indecisive especially on the first day.
But I would never expect anyone to trust my gut feelings; they are mine, after all.
That still doesn't make Jazmo any less suspicious.

I was expressing my opinion of your statement. I understand you didn't specifically say you were not suspicious of Jazmo.
Apologies for my question not making sense. To put in another way (and since you half answered my question already)
Since Rummaging stacking on Jazmo was the reason you wanted to move your vote. Why is it that her action made you feel that way?
That still doesn't make Jazmo any less suspicious.

I do appreciate the clarification. I think it's a bit silly though that they both essentially did the same thing (stacked), yet rummy goes down a notch on your suspicion list, while Tainted goes up on your list enough to warrant a vote switch. I can see your rationale about rummy being a new player, but it still seems rather incongruous.

Her vote for Jaz read to me like a new player reciprocating a vote and not being concerned with a stack. Plus, and I can't stress this enough, I was the other vote for Jaz. I know why I voted for Jaz, and I know what I don't know, which is everything else, literally everything else in the game I don't know.
I think I stated twice that I'm still suspicious of Jaz.

I think you're discounting the other half of it, which was that Rummy stacked on MY vote. I know my vote was cast without any knowledge of who is mafia. I have no idea why Tainted's vote was cast the way it was. Hence the switch.
I'm ok with a 3 or 4 way runoff either way. I don't see a reason right now why we'd need to have one over the other.
IMO - 4 person runoff gives us more to whittle down, giving more voting patterns and chances to for people to talk, providing more information for the town and inspector.
You're welcome to your opinion. I know from experience that hindsight is usually 20/20 when it comes to choosing a 3 or 4 person runoff in round 1. On one hand, a 4 person runoff can potentially coral a mafia (or second, or third mafia) into the runoff. On the other hand, it can be a tactic by mafia to dilute the runoff pool with a townie and offer better chance of survival.
I'm not going to pretend like I know which one is better at this point in the game.

I don't understand, in any capacity, potents approach to switching to my name. The action alone creates suspicion, and the subsequent explanation has essentially been that its a gut instinct. Based on that very same gut instinct, I am inclined to believe that either you are going to be the long winded townie this round, or mafia. Last round, the long winded townie turned out to be inspector and managed to expose himself and get off'd (phrasing) on day 1. If you fall into the category of townie or inspector, I feel like you should maybe approach things with more logic in your writings as I don't seem to be alone in finding that suspicious.
Jazmo - you've really brought out the brigade against Potent, and I can appreciate you trying to get facts out of him, but your overall aggressive approach may be contributing to suspicions around you. I couldn't agree more that it's befuddling that I'd get stacked against based on my sound approach, but if I get into a runoff I believe I can create a sound argument to defend myself. If you're town or especially inspector, please try to stay alive as I'd love to see what a day 2 or day 3 inspector reveal looks like.
I had simple reasoning for my vote, though now I have to take note that my swing vote can stop the run off and send potent to pod six. I don't even know why we have a pod six. Total Suck Pod. I'm not realistically going to do that, as I'd prefer the runoff to see a little more unfold, but it should be noted regardless.
Ok, I have a couple of observations. Also it should be noted that I am currently studying for my CPA so I will be most active during working hours (7-4 CST), not to say I am exclusive to just those hours.
First, It's been over a year since I last played a game and you guys still can’t agree on a 3 or 4 person runoff (classic), not that I am claiming I know the answer. I just think it’s funny. I am fine with either a 3 or 4 person runoff at this point.
Second, I don't buy the "new player" excuse as I am sure the mafia has already been in communication. I will play like I never knew rummaging is a new player.
Third, I am not sure what to think of potent at this time. I do think it’s odd that he has already taken his name off a stack (jazmo) and cleared a player (rummaging) based on “gut feeling”.
Forth, I am keeping my vote for now based on the bolded below, because I find it silly and don’t see a reason to put anyone else in over possum at the moment.
My logic is simple, most players have a routine and while I don't find it strange when someone picks someone at random, I do find it strange when someone picks someone and then explains that they are voting for them based on nothing at all. As for stacking, the votes were cut five or six ways one way with a single individual having two votes. Between those flags, I had my first vote. I doubt I’ll be changing it, barring a shift in what pans out.

You stacked early, I said it in my first post on the subject when I switched my vote to you. I also explained in the paragraph above the bold the reasoning behind my gut instinct on Rummaging. And I've subsequently explained it more, which leads me to think you just aren't really reading my explanations. Maybe they don't convince you - that's fine, I realize I may not convince anyone as it is the first day and there isn't a lot to go on. But I've responded to every single person who asked why I did what I did, and I've offered an explanation that is based on two things: 1) my belief that Rummaging, as a new player, would not have stacked on someone so quickly if she were mafia, and 2) you, as someone who has played before, stacking on Krissy and offering no reason; you know stacking draws attention on the first day, come on.
I also indicated that I'm willing to move my vote off of you, and that feeling remains.

I can appreciate that, but there isn't anywhere where my vote would be more suited at this point. I'm more or less just preparing for a runoff. If I were to recast my vote at this point, the only two reasonable candidates are Bogart (because we are silly) and you (because we aren't quite syncing up, hence, our suspicions cast against each other). I wouldn't vote for you, based on the fact that I'd surely be either lynched or whacked in quick fashion simply based on bright lights and alarms going off and its not exactly in the fashion of the game. If I vote for bogart, Krissy falls out of the spotlight (despite the day one round one stack), I draw more "suspicion" to myself for switching votes and our runoff drops to 3 - essentially making my vote null.
I'd appreciate some insight from your end, or any end, where my vote may serve a better purpose.

Well, I'm hesitant to tell anyone how to vote...but, I will offer some thoughts so I guess I'm not too hesitant.
If you don't buy the "new player" argument, Rummaging is a clear answer for causing such a quick stack on jazmo. My belief in her is that *if* she were mafia, her fellow mafioso would have advised her against stacking on Jazmo so early in the game, but that's also because my theory of mafia believes that you don't want to bring attention to yourself in round 1. She already had attention since she was new (see Jaz vote), she drew more by 1) causing an early stack, and 2) reciprocating a vote. I guess some people think reciprocating a vote can be an effective technique for a mafia, I just don't agree with that in the first round. All of these things lead me to believe she's town. But, someone who doesn't believe what I wrote about Rummy would be justified I think in stacking on her.
You could also vote for Jimmyroo and put him into the runoff, but that would be based on nothing other than him having one vote currently.
IMO - 4 person runoff gives us more to whittle down, giving more voting patterns and chances to for people to talk, providing more information for the town and inspector.

Trust me, I don't know which one is better, either - which is why I bring it up in just about every game I play. I understand both of your points about a 4 person runoff, so I can go either way. I've honestly never thought of the flip side of the mafia diluting the runoff pool, so thanks for that.
Also, it makes me smile to think of mafia in this:

Can you explain the bolded portion to me? I read it as you stating I should stay in the spotlight because I stacked on someone, but I don't think I read it correctly because I haven't moved my initial vote. (Which, btw, I tend to not move on Day 1 unless something big happens)
Also, anyone know where surfbumdj may be? Viking stated he's not waiting for players past the deadline and it'd be nice to have everyone in the game involved.

I'm well aware - I like to press people to see how they respond; it helps me feel my way through things and generates discussion for the town, so I don't mind taking some heat for it. I'm actually not that suspicious of potent at the moment, despite applying some pressure to him. His incongruity is notable but the rest of his reasoning makes sense to me.
I think I stated twice that I'm still suspicious of Jaz.

1) I really dig the nickname "rummy" - I hope it continues. 2) FWIW, I played the shit out of Mafia throughout middle and high school. I may be a noob to this board's game, but I am not new to the game as a whole.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
