I can appreciate that, but there isn't anywhere where my vote would be more suited at this point. I'm more or less just preparing for a runoff. If I were to recast my vote at this point, the only two reasonable candidates are Bogart (because we are silly) and you (because we aren't quite syncing up, hence, our suspicions cast against each other). I wouldn't vote for you, based on the fact that I'd surely be either lynched or whacked in quick fashion simply based on bright lights and alarms going off and its not exactly in the fashion of the game. If I vote for bogart, Krissy falls out of the spotlight (despite the day one round one stack), I draw more "suspicion" to myself for switching votes and our runoff drops to 3 - essentially making my vote null.
I'd appreciate some insight from your end, or any end, where my vote may serve a better purpose.
Can you explain the bolded portion to me? I read it as you stating I should stay in the spotlight because I stacked on someone, but I don't think I read it correctly because I haven't moved my initial vote. (Which, btw, I tend to not move on Day 1 unless something big happens)
Also, anyone know where surfbumdj may be? Viking stated he's not waiting for players past the deadline and it'd be nice to have everyone in the game involved.
Of course. I can appreciate that this is your first game, and that its your first vote, but I don't buy the defense of a return vote - at least not to the extent that you should no longer be considered possible mafia. One of your posts on page 1 lead me to believe that you are more than likely town, however I don't really rest my head on "more than likely". Your initial vote is either concerning, or not concerning at all and complete proof that you are indeed fresh in this game and town. I haven't been able to clearly decide which yet, but time will tell.
Okay, so we're now at a 5 person run-off between Potentpotables, Tainted Opossum, Krissyjo, Jazmo, and Rummagingforanswers7
I think that's overkill, so would like to see it whittled down to 4 or 3. Due to the conversations, I'd like to see Jazmo, Potent, and Taint in it. The fourth could be a toss up between me or rummaging. Obviously, for self-preservation sake, I'd rather not be in it, but for the town's sake, it doesn't bother me to be there.
I prefer rummy over krissyjo for a fourth person in the runoff. Krissyjo's playing style changes when she's Mafia and I'm not getting seeing that yet at this point in the game.

Ummmmm I think you're confusing me with someone. Rummy maybe? Cause not my first game... and didn't do a return vote. I voted for jimmy and haven't moved.
And I prefer four over three. I don't really agree with the idea that having more people is advantageous to Mafia because it dilute the runoff. To me, more people = more chances to look at votes = more discussion, all of which are good for the town. And while it can help the Mafia to throw a townie in if we have a three-person runoff, casting a wider net also means there's a greater chance that we'll snag a Mafia in the first round. And as I said before, I like seeing how people respond when under a little pressure.

You probably shouldn't drink before noon
Oh god, I am way off in left field this morning! My apologies, allow me to correct myself: While I don't at all trust return voters, you indeed were not one of them. I meant to say that (per my previous posts) I simply don't trust someone who makes a random vote but then takes time to state that they are voting based entirely on random chance. If you hadn't said this, or if someone had coaxed such a response out of you, I may see it differently. That minor error aside, the rest of the point remains the same.
Please don't take my pre noon sauce away, its what gets my to my post noon sauce!
Also - over half the players have three posts or less. I know I'm more of a loudmouth than most in this game and that draws a lot of attention, but it also allows Mafia to slip through while the town is distracted. I want to see some of y'all talk more.

Krissy did do two things so far that she also did while mafia in Mafia 76 - 1) complain about it being quiet on Day 1, and 2) make a few posts just to let us know she's active but not really saying anything (checking on surf, asking viking to update tally, throwaway response to Jaz on quiet day 1).
That said, I'm only suspicious of her in that I'm suspicious of 9.5 of you.

That's fair. Though, I do like to think I've been more substantial overall so far. And I think I complain about quiet in every game lol
Your being suspicious of 9.5 of us is interesting to me. Why isn't it higher? There are 11 of us in the game. You know your role, so I'd assume you're not suspicious of yourself. But that leaves 10 other people. Who counts as half a person and why?
Personally, I'm suspicious of all 10 of you'se guys right now cause it's Day 1.

I just reread through and saw where you stated you were half suspicious of Rummy. So I found the answer to my question. Carry on.

I'm here. I'll talk.
But as a first-time player to this specific group of Mafia-ers, I'm opting for a fair amount of observation.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
I'd like to hear from people on who they think should be in the runoff... I stated my picks. I know it's a bit of a toss-up, but we gotta start somewhere.
I do appreciate the clarification. I think it's a bit silly though that they both essentially did the same thing (stacked), yet rummy goes down a notch on your suspicion list, while Tainted goes up on your list enough to warrant a vote switch. I can see your rationale about rummy being a new player, but it still seems rather incongruous.
1) I really dig the nickname "rummy" - I hope it continues. 2) FWIW, I played the shit out of Mafia throughout middle and high school. I may be a noob to this board's game, but I am not new to the game as a whole.
Continue as you were.
If you've played before you must know the disadvantages of stacking on someone so early? Care to explain why you did that?

I do, and I will freely admit that I thought it might draw attention. But that's all there was to it: I haven't played with you guys before, so I wanted to make a move that might spark debate.

Well, it did and my suspicions are officially raised from 9.5 to 10.
We're looking at 2 hours til deadline. We can stay with 5 in the runoff or narrow it to 4 or 3. If we keep it to 5 this time, I think it should go to 3 next time. If we want to narrow the runoff, I think one of these people should consider moving their vote: Farris, Jazmo, Taint, Surf. This is based on my feelings that Potent, Taint, and Jazmo should remain in the runoff.

Didn't see Rummy's response before I posted this (keeping windows open and working while trying to respond isn't probably a good idea). Now I'm kind of leaning towards seeing her in the runoff, too. If we did four, that works fine. If we go to three, I'd say it should be potent, taint, and rummy.

Is there any basis for why you feel I should remain in the runoff?

Yeppers.
For starters - you stacked on me with (what I consider) a silly reason. I very rarely, if ever, cast a vote without *some* sort of explanation. Even if it's simply stating that it was completely random. When it happened, I really didn't think much of it, because people have to stack to get the game moving. But then your posts after that starting making me a bit more curious about you.
I don't understand, in any capacity, potents approach to switching to my name. The action alone creates suspicion, and the subsequent explanation has essentially been that its a gut instinct. Based on that very same gut instinct, I am inclined to believe that either you are going to be the long winded townie this round, or mafia. Last round, the long winded townie turned out to be inspector and managed to expose himself and get off'd (phrasing) on day 1. If you fall into the category of townie or inspector, I feel like you should maybe approach things with more logic in your writings as I don't seem to be alone in finding that suspicious.
Jazmo - you've really brought out the brigade against Potent, and I can appreciate you trying to get facts out of him, but your overall aggressive approach may be contributing to suspicions around you. I couldn't agree more that it's befuddling that I'd get stacked against based on my sound approach, but if I get into a runoff I believe I can create a sound argument to defend myself. If you're town or especially inspector, please try to stay alive as I'd love to see what a day 2 or day 3 inspector reveal looks like.
I had simple reasoning for my vote, though now I have to take note that my swing vote can stop the run off and send potent to pod six. I don't even know why we have a pod six. Total Suck Pod. I'm not realistically going to do that, as I'd prefer the runoff to see a little more unfold, but it should be noted regardless.
That's just an oddball statement to make in Day 1, imo.
Then there was the crazy confusion about you saying you wanted to keep me in the spotlight because it was my first game and I made a return vote - none of which is true. You responded to it with something that didn't really clear it up for me:
Ummmmm I think you're confusing me with someone. Rummy maybe? Cause not my first game... and didn't do a return vote. I voted for jimmy and haven't moved.

Haha I mistook your actions for a different players from last night, is that really so crazy? What you put in bold from my first quote is simple fact, mixed with a quote from the show that this round is based on.
All that aside, I fail to see how these two thoughts make me suspicious vs comfortably paranoid and slightly foggy from last night. (Smiley face)
Considering we're in the first day without a lot to go off of, I keep note of even minor quirks. Are you high on my suspicion list? Not really. Not any higher than anyone else in the upcoming runoff. But we gotta start somewhere.

At this point I'm more suspicious of the people who are electing to remain online but not contribute to the conversation. I don't have a who and why yet, but as soon as I do I will post it. It seems to me that the first round is not going in any sort of logical direction, leaving all of our asses exposed and more of an opportunity for Townies to go down in multitude.
I can agree with that - but really, how do you choose a logical direction on the first day?
I'm about to go to lunch. I get back when the round is closed. I'm sitting on my vote cause it's obviously pointless for me to do any moving. I'll keep an eye on my phone in case things go crazy in the next hour.
Jk, I'm not really out to get him - or maybe I am?
I say 4 person run off.
Can you share your reasoning?
The Jaz comment was a joke; maybe I should try to check my sarcasm at the door of this thread hahaha though I can't make any promises.
The 4-person run off comment was not a joke. My reasoning for that is simply that 3 seems too few, but having a 5 person run off is nearly half the group. That seems too many. It is a Goldilocks situation: 4 is just right.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Well, you know I've been part of the conversation. I have nothing to hide, as I'm a member of the town. But I realize that someone has to die on the first day and there's an 8 out of 11 chance it's a townie, so if I'm going down, I'm getting as much info out there as possible to help the town. With this reasoning, and to help Krissy get the number of people in the runoff that she wants, but not the exact people, I'm moving my vote.
potent >>> jazmo >>> tainted opossum >>> jfg
He was the first to vote for me, so I will reciprocate here noting that it is based on nothing but reciprocation. I could have reciprocated to the other vote on me, but that would have put him in the runoff and would really have made little discernible difference to where we are. In other words, my vote is a throwaway to get to a 4 person runoff.

Anyone agree? Disagree?
Why on earth would you offer yourself to the runoff? You're being way too cooperative here for my liking.
I want Krissy, Rummaging, and Potent in the runoff for sure.
Rummaging needs to keep talking after saying she did something detrimental to the town on purpose. Potent should be in there for the vote change.
