I have seen nothing to make me move my first round vote.
As to 3, 4, or 5: I tend to lean towards 3 or 4. Sure a 5 way CAN lead to an additional round of voting for later analysis, however it can also give the Mafia another chance to sweep up the inspector into the danger zone.
If that happens and the inspector is in serious danger of a lynch, the inspector kinda has to come out - this has happened in more than one of the most recent games.
Not saying that is an unassailable opinion, just trying to satisfy demands for posts from me. I've said it before and I'll probably need to say it again, it is the quality of a posts content that matters, not numerous posts filed with jokes and nonsense.

Did viking say 2pm "CST"? Cause it's CDT now.
And yet you still have said basically nothing other than what's already been said regarding the number of people in the runoff. You've satisfied nothing. Who do you find suspicious? Is there anyone in the runoff you don't think should be there? Anyone who isn't who you think should be? What do you think of potent's vote switching? Krissy's smiley faces? Rummy being the first to stack? My insatiable need to bugger up everyone's butt until they talk? The quietude of other players (HI FARRIS HI JIMMY HI SURF)?
Maybe you don't see anything that warrants a vote switch - I'm in that same boat as you in that regard - but your silence is decidedly unhelpful to the town.
I'm not asking you to answer all of these (really I think I'm just channeling the spirit of our MIA ref), but the town doesn't win when half the players stay silent. I'll poke wherever necessary to get people to start talking.

I agree that it's the quality of the content, some of the nonsense and jokes bring the truth out front. The quality of your post is the bit about it now being CDT, and not much else.

Nothing really to add. Potent is erratic with his voting. Seems like he's trying to stir things up because he's afraid of the current runoff going forward. That makes me comfortable with status quo for now.
Also, not to sound like an all-important dick, but I was at work all day and then went to MSG to see Temple lose to Miami in the NIT final four. I'm just getting home now. I was checking the thread periodically throughout the day but, again, nothing really substantial happened.
All I saw besides Potent's vote switching was some people talking about taints, grasping for straws with "suspicions" that weren't explained, or bitching that players like myself weren't adding to the clutter of these last five pages.

Look, you can make yourself believe what you want to believe, and so I realize there is nothing I will do or say that will convince you otherwise. But rest assured, I am not afraid of the runoff. If I am voted off, so be it, I'll be upset for a day because I like playing mafia and I am a member of the town, but my life will go on most likely. The truth is that all 7 of the normal townies have no idea what to do today and they grasp at every little straw to try to make some narrative. I know this, I've been part of it and I'm doing it in this game. The reality to me is that it is really hard to know what you're doing without a mafia whack. If I have to die for the town to win, so be it, I hope I can play a part in it right now.

Really busy at work today. Just caught up on the thread now. Will post my thoughts after this, I just want to let everyone know I'm here.
And just for a future FYI, I work from 7-4pm est. Most of the time I won't be at the office so I can't get on the computer to post meaningful stuff, but I can catch up on my phone periodically. Which means I won't usually be posting much till after then. In the case of today, I have been hanging with a friend after work.
Also don't expect me to post as rambunctiously as I did my first game. Like some others have said, it is the quality of the post, not the quantity that deserves merit.
Since my vote was cast, and given the way things played out yesterday. I didn't feel compelled to post much more. And I don't feel compelled to move my vote now after catching up either. I'm happy with who we have in the runoff currently.

Must we maintain our vote once it reaches run off stage, or can we switch it at this time?
e) If votes are tied when the round closes, an additional 36 hour round will start. This is referred to as a Run-Off in the game. Votes for players in the runoff are carried over, other votes are reset. Once the runoff has begun, players that voted for the players in the runoff may change their votes IE once the runoff is established, players are not locked to their initial vote.

Whoops whoops! Read through the rules earlier today in the OP but was at work, so admittedly it was more of a glance-over.

Haha well this will now carry a connotation that I did not intend at all - by way of Krissy voting for me, and thus it potentially looking like a revenge vote - but I asked the question last night because I would like to move my vote from Jaz to Krissy. Reasoning: I threw my vote out for Jaz quite early on in the game, very little conversation had transpired at that point, but I wasn't going to consider changing it until some more shit had played out, people had stated their opinions, etc. After what I've seen, Krissy seems much more suspicious than Jaz - hence, my vote change.
Additionally, I have a question about patterns from the Mafia games played on this board: as has been mentioned, there are a few notably more absent folk for this round, who have posted maybe twice or thrice since it started. And I know there are various reasons for this (a primary option being that they're just busy with other, ~real life~ shit), but has it been a pattern in the past that the Mafia stays more silent for the first round, while the town is more talkative? Like, is this silence something that genuinely should spark suspicion or were people making note of it so that the absent participants would feel motivated to make their presence note, come discuss, etc.?

Agh, so sorry! Okay, rereading the rules now so as to avoid messing up these things any further.

Can you explain your suspicions of me, please? I'll be sure to do the same for you.
Regarding your question about the quiet people. For me, the quieter players could be laying low, trying not to gain attention and fly under the radar as mafia. That's why I encourage conversation and, at the very least, checking in so we know they're actually keeping up with the game. It's also worrisome that someone could be quiet because they forgot they signed up for the game - which can be detrimental if they miss two votes.

Agree with this.
Since it's the first day, it's hard to suss out who is quiet because they have nothing to say and who is quiet because they are trying to skirt through. I was pretty quiet on Day 1 of the last two games because I didn't have much to say. I've been more talkative this game.
In both of my previous games (Mafia 76 and Mafia 77), we had one mafia member who was pretty quiet. In 76, Jim was quiet and played the "confused" card and made it to the final three before Billy outed him. In 77, Slack was almost absent from the whole game and when the town killed me on Day 3, Slack and Billy were victorious as mafia (with Carini). After that experience, I resolved that I wouldn't let quiet people win this game as mafia. If I am going to lose, I'd rather lose to people who were talking.
But, because it's day 1 it is hard to decipher in my opinion. As I've stated before (possibly while drunk last night), you really can talk yourself into anything in this game, any theory, and most of them are going to be wrong. Every single character typed by someone is scrutinized, and you can be damned if you do and damned if you don't.

As I've stated before, I will freely admit that since this is my first time playing the game on this board, I am taking this round to simultaneously participate in the conversations as much as I can, to get used to what strategies and tendencies tend to be around here, while also observing a lot. I asked the question about quiet people because, as a ~noob~ I don't have the context of prior games to go off of, so yeah, I'll say now that I don't know what to make of the people who haven't said much this game. Should I suspect them more, less, equally? What's keeping them so quiet? Could be that the three Mafia are the three players who have been most silent. But I am putting my vote on Krissy because, by way of speaking more than a lot of people in this round so far, there is more to pick apart and deem potentially suspicious. Is that fair, even smart? Maybe not. Almost all the Mafia games I've played before have been in person, so I'm not used to this format. It is taking some adjustment; I'm used to having facial expressions and eye contact and all that to work with, from previous games I've played. This way is slower, more calculated. Which is fun, but different.
