It's gonna be a month at least. That November 1 was from my nephew taking to someone that supposedly works at Entergy.
It doesn't matter, our shop was destroyed in the storm. My boss loaded and moved his trailers to a safe location, but that means production delays on top of storm delays. I applied for FEMA already.
Yeesh. I’d see a few weeks if you’re in the city but I can’t imagine 30 days. But we’ll see I guess.
Normally those t line towers are pretty standard pieces of steel. It will be repaired before all the lower voltage lines to each home will be in commission.

I'm hoping two weeks. I have lasted that long before. We have underground wiring on my street and we're usually last down, first up. I guess we'll see if that stands.

We had that where I grew up in the East too. The problem with this time is that it’s the entire feed system instead of being local or neighborhood:regional. They’ll have to figure out a way to get power past that fallen structure which is up river and up grid. I’m not optimistic. I don’t really know what to do either. I could ask to stay in Florida for the time being which is the alternative to semi-living out the car while I’m supposed to have been moved back home. And I’m on vacation for the next week since I had it off for Bonnaroo. But we also need to go back to Metairie to handle up on any house damage and issues. So I’m fucked. I really want to go to Bonnaroo if I can. Maybe if I try hard I can get up there maybe for a couple days.

Work just texted and we're off all this week. Idk what that means, paycheck-wise and idk what it means since our shop is destroyed. We were supposed to be location scouting today and tomorrow.
I'm dreaming on being on the farm, but with no power, the yard work/cleanup needed and now trying to find a pet sitter? It's too much. I've never felt sadness and relief at the same exact time.

FWIW, at this point it’s touch-and-go as to whether any of us are going to be on the farm.
So, I'm not glad, but I definitely know I made the right choice. They're officially not allowing people back into the city. After Katrina, it was over a month before they let you back in. We had to sneak through some backwards ass roads to get in and avoid the road blocks.
I kept thinking what if I leave my dogs and then can't get back in the city after Bonnaroo. Sitting here discussing where we can get gas, find a generator and hit up the assistance pop-ups instead of packing sucks ass but not as much as going to Bonnaroo, spending a ton of money and then having to spend more to find a place to stay.
Sometimes the hardest choices are the right one. 😭😭

Its gonna be a shit show anyways! The Farm will probably be in worse shape than New Orleans after this mud fest

Well, Ida fucked up New Orleans, robbed us of Bonnaroo, and now parts of NYC are flooding to the point that parked cars are floating. This storm sucks.

I'm so fucking over Ida and 2020 AND 2021.
We still don't have power for those wondering. We've driven around, so many trees down, so many roofs gone, so many buildings destroyed.
One half of the French Quarter got power yesterday. Some places that Entergy said had power doesn't.
It rained a ton last night. There's flooding all over the Northeast, cause 4-6 inches came down last night. I think there was also a tornado on the Cape and some water spouts off the coast.
Idk where else to put this and it has to do with Ida, so here feels kinda right.
Those that have been following. We will have power by Sept 8 in my area. We officially have a generator that hooks up to the house's natural gas, so no more searching for gas. We just got a portable AC until as well. We threw out a bunch of food out a couple days ago (what is time), but a ton of cooked food just got dropped off at my house because I brought ice and supplies to others.
I'm finally feeling good about our situation and we won't have to venture out much anymore. Work will start a few days after power is projected. Which is a huge relief.
I feel extremely lucky because I just.so happened to have started to work before this hit. We would be in a way different situation if I wasn't working. I feel for other in this city that aren't as comfortable as we were able to make ourselves.

After Ivan in Pensacola, FEMA gave me a check for a $100 for loss of food. They set up some FEMA assistance sites at churches a couple of weeks or so after the hurricane. You might want to keep an eye out for that.
I didn't have power for 2 weeks after Ivan. It was hell on Earth for sure because it was so damn humid. I had bought 2 loaves of bread prior to the storm thinking I was doing the right thing. Well, without power and how humid and dank my apartment got, that bread molded faster than I would have thought even possible! Like 2 days, all green. We just ate everything we had from the fridge in one big cook-out. The rest of the time, we relied on the National Guard bringing us MREs. Fun times! UGH

I've been denied by FEMA because I'm a home owner. I have to file a claim through my insurance, get denied, appeal FEMA's decision to then get money. 🙄
There are few things that feel better than getting power back after basically camping in your house for more than a few days.
You are not wrong, we were without for 6 days, but we were setup in a manner that we would have been comfortable to be without for longer. Just really not about the glamping in my house life.

I recall that now, with FEMA. Sorry there's so much hassle with just trying to get a little assistance for loss of food! You would think that in a major disaster it could be acceptable for FEMA to just quickly at least do that much for everyone.

6 days sucks but could be a whole lot worse! I figured it'd be within two weeks for you being in the City and all.
There's some areas that are going to take a while, I've been out all week but I know our company left Houston with 600 distribution poles on Tuesday and it wont be enough. I've also got a co worker that literally spent last week on an air boat surveying substation damage.

I've never had to deal with FEMA directly but after Catrina went on a mission trip to Mississippi and while painting somebodies FEMA home we learned we were the 5th group to paint the inside of this house a different shade of white...I know this person had to have gone through a lot but couldn't help but feel like we should be doing something else.
Looks like 94-L will develop into at least something minimal and may impact the central or upper Texas coast and much of SETX and SWLA with a ton of rain. Not Harvey levels of rain but still.

I think we’ll alright. That path right up the Texas coast does not create warm fuzzy feelings though.
Stocked up on fuel for the generator for a few days and some basics regardless (beer and water).
