Don't know if anyone else has heard of Cyclone Freddy - but this thing in the Indian Ocean basin refuses to die.
It formed on Feb 4th northwest of Australia, then went across the entire Indian Ocean. It made landfall in Madagascar on Feb 21st, then Mozambique on Feb 24th. Then came back out off the coast of Mozambique on March 2nd. Now made another landfall today in a different part of Mozambique. There's a chance it comes back off the coast again in a few days. It's the longest lived tropical cyclone ever, and has the highest ACE rating of any tropical cyclone ever.

Here's a before and after of just one reservoir in California. Crazy amount of rain the last few months. Some of the reservoirs even overflowed for the first time since like 2005.
i'm going to dc for the weekend, and the forecast for the one day I absolutely have to be outside - Saturday - has rain for the exact times I will be outside (the morning)
Haha. It finally got warm here again today. It had been on the chilly side since Friday. I had to run the heater to like 77 yesterday it was so cold. I know we are due a couple more blasts of 40’s and 50’s before it gets warm for good, but it got so warm so early that it’s almost like I’m starting winter over again. I was always a person that gets used to it and would be barefoot and in shorts near the end of winter. But I was cold the last couple days. Looks to be low 80’s until Monday. I’m going to be good with that.
Hot af today - maybe 91/92. But it’s all the smoke in the air that’s got me tripping out. We are pretty far away from the wildfires but they must be pretty substantial for the smoke to make it’s way to the Gulf Coast.

So there's a ridge over the middle of the country and a low that's been stuck over Maine and the Canadian maritimes*. It's been funneling all the smoke from Quebec southward.

Alright, I complained in here right before the Cure, and although we got soaked, we got a hell of a set and nothing got canceled. Let's try this again: We're looking at a lot of rain tonight for Pixies/Franz Ferdinand/Bully, and we're outside at AE. Just hoping none of it doesn't get canceled

2/2, it did rain pretty much the entire night, but everyone played their full sets. Here's to hoping for better weather for boygenius and reset next week

That map is annoying because instead of just using a regular map of north America they decided to put North America on a globe and didn't even bother to make the map of north America curved to go into a globe shape.
So much for a beach day on my day off. Stupid thunderstorms!
All day? If it’s only early worst that can happen is you get wet sand in the afternoon. Not ideal but if the water is warm enough for swimming you’d get wet anyway. I fucked up and didn’t take yesterday off and go home to Pensacola for 4 days. My daughters posse was supposed to be going but one of their friends passed (not sure if OD or possibly worse). End of June here was as hot as June ever gets. Like Texas hot but more humidity so heat indexes 117-118 which we never get here. Shits finally breaking down as we got some rain already and should have more. Gonna be partying at the pool with the rest of the radicals at our apartments this afternoon after cooking some veggie pasta.

It passed a lot sooner than we expected, so we may try to get our shit together and go, wet sand and all. We have bikes so it's a schlep but better than the subway + bus combo.
