Been hot as shit in New Orleans the last 3 weeks or so. Endless upper 90’s/100 and high humidity. It doesn’t get that hot here usually but a couple days a year. It’s so hot here in Pensacola today we are boycotting the beach until like 6 o’clock. El Niño kicking some ass. I’m wondering if the comeback will be a hurricane or cold winter?
87 in Brooklyn -- even when it was 70 degrees last night.... is an issue. You wake up mid-night and you have to change all of your heating situation. I also was lucky and it didn't go up to 80 until 10am, which meant I slept a full night. But the humidity is terrible here. Even when it rains it goes right back into the air because of the air stream getting fucked by climate change. Plus buildings and that we just don't get to wipe out air even when it's windy. This has been EVERY day since June. Imagine just being ok with it when your rent goes up.
The heat is so bad. Feels like 116 until 9p, then feels like 104 until 1a.
I've worked outside 5 out of 7 days this week and did a "run" on Saturday like a moron.
I am about to say something I never say, but I'm ready for it to be cooler now, please. Feels like 90, 80 or even 70? Yes, I'll embrace that temp like a motherfucker.

yo I'm glad it's only 80 right now. but I'm burning up my leaseholders account and I feel like shit about it... It's NEVER been this bad. and I've held a lease before. Like I got an AC and two fans running but you can't stop the humidity. And then it will drop to 70 here... and it's the middle of the night and you just wake up in chills. It makes no fucking sense
Considering how cold the Pacific waters are in California and northern Baja - it likely won't be a hurricane when it gets to San Diego. You'll get rain and wind yeah, but those things fall apart over cold water.

we broke city record for 11 straight 100+ degree days (which may still be going) but we're supposed to finally get a break soon and hopefully it won't get back up
Isn't there an El Niño cycle making it especially hot rn even relative to global heating?
Yeah. It’s a big part of it but the Atlantic is also super hot even hotter than 2005. But luckily the El Niño will at least get some check on hurricane season that otherwise would probably be among the top shit ever - 2005, 1933, 2017, etc. it’s still probably gonna be bad for some but hopefully we can all just get some lower end shit with rainfall.

There is a tiktok (that of course I can't find now), that talks about how the the meteorologist cartographer has had to add a line more than at any time since recording heat (this was in July), and then went on to basically say that due to climate change we are past the point of return. The oceans are the sponges of the Earth and like sponges, they absorb the heat to keep the planet cool. But just like when there is too much water for a sponge to absorb, it all fall out and runs over. At the time it was 5 weeks before we hit the peak of summer heat. I literally cried after watching.

dont worry, itll cool down when the ice caps melt, and then they'll re freeze during the nuclear winter
