Man I was really looking forward to the Porter Robinson set but either he is having massive sound issues or the songs really dont translate live well at all. Beyond the fact that there arent pre sequenced transitions, the songs themself just really lack power, and rather than feel atmospheric they feel rather hollow. The arrangements are choppy and there is no momentum. People want to dance and the tracks just aren't made for it. Im ready for the crowd to jump on stage and stab him in the heart.
The show isn't for people who want to dance and rage.
Putting it in the Sahara was a mistake.
Agreed, I kept saying to myself, this would feel better in the Mojave or Gobi. I really enjoy the latest album and wasn't expecting a dancy set, but it felt awkward and he looked frustrated.

Yeah, the part of that set that I watched (like 20 minutes) it felt really weird, awkward is the perfect word for it
In regards to some of the Tame comments, I completely get it. I like them but I don't drool over them like most on here. I would see them at pretty much any fest I attend but they have a very diff vibe and if you're not completely into that style they'll leave you thinking, "oh well that was pretty good, i don't see what the big deal is." It's the same with any genre, if you're not into that style it's not going to click as much for you. That being said I thought they were great.
Tame Impala was fuckin' awesome last night. I love how awkward and shy and unassuming they are on stage and then the second they start playing BOOM!!!! RIGHT IN THE KISSER!
Anyone see the setlist ACDC played? Pretty awesome.
