1. Artist polls go in the Blue Room. 2. This thread already exists in the Blue Room: inforoo.com/thread/34188/best-guitarist-bonnaroo-2015 3. Scofield. By a wide margin. (GCJ won in the other thread, too. But that just shows that most of you are ignerint.)

4. You can't leave out Jerry Douglas. That's even ignerinter! According to Wikipedia: "In addition to his thirteen solo recordings, Douglas has played on more than 1,600 albums. As a sideman, he has recorded with artists as diverse as Ray Charles, Eric Clapton, Phish, Dolly Parton, Paul Simon, Mumford & Sons, Keb' Mo', Ricky Skaggs, Elvis Costello, and Johnny Mathis."
Just got tickets for an amazing show at Terrapin Crossroads (Phil Lesh's club in San Rafael, CA). CHECK THIS OUT:
Phil Lesh Warren Haynes John Medeski John Scofield Joe Russo
Jackie Green is opening. I am literally beside myself. (And you wouldn't say I'm misusing "literally" if you could see the two of me sitting here typing this.)
I love Gary Clark, but he's not even close to as good as John Scofield in any way.
Jerry Douglas, Chris Thile and Bela Fleck are possibly the best stringed instrument players on the farm, although Sco is right up there with him.
Scofield is the better technical player but I don't really like his style or tone so I didn't vote for him. I know he's extremely good, but find him to also be extremely meh.

I dunno man. If we widen the question by asking who is the best stringed instrument player with the emphasis on technical proficiency I feel like Sco would be in a photo finish with Thile and Fleck along with Gabe Witcher (violin for Punch Brothers) a neck length behind on a muddy track.
