Interesting that this fest was booked by C3 Presents (Lolla, ACL). The Washington Post story said they're hoping for 50,000 people. I hope this sticks around -- it has tons of potential and a nice cause -- but it's amazing how many of these little 2-day city fests are popping up now.
I'm really anxious to see the schedule. With 5 stages and a 10 pm curfew, there'll be some tough choices.
What's the closest Metro station to this?
Yeah that might be the tough part. There's plenty of Metro station within about a 20-30 minute walk, but it will depend on what part of the Park you end up on. If you're on the North end, by the Lincoln you can actually walk across the Memorial bridge to the Arlington Cemetery stop in about 20-25 minutes, and if you're on the south end towards Jefferson you'll have to dip around part of the Tidal Basin to Smithsonian or L'Enfant. The trick will be knowing where your end game is because if you're in Crystal City or Arlington, the Cemetery is your best bet even if it's a little further walk. If you're in the Dupont area, you'll have to transfer anyway so walk to Smithsonian or even Foggy Bottom. Problem with Cemetery stop is the station closes early once the Cemetery closes. Things change though for special events so stay tuned to this page - www.wmata.com/getting_around/?forcedesktop=1
There's a 10 pm curfew for sure? Damn, missed that part :/ That probably will make the conflicts really rough. I was hoping for 11 pm/midnight.
Lots of close metro stations, Smithsonian and L'Enfant are probably the closest though. I've never minded getting off at Metro Center though (since I live off the red line, and I hate transferring on the DC metros...you'll understand why if you come and try it out haha our delays are constant) and walking down to the Mall area, hardly a 15 minute walk.
Yeah, according to the website, the hours for both days are 11 am - 10 pm.
As for the Metro, I know. I go to DC a few times a year, and I always hate transfers. That was actually why I asked; I want to find a hotel on the same line. I don't mind walking a bit.
Eh, it's actually in a bit of a no-man's land for Metros. Arlington Cemetery is probably the closest. It's almost 2 miles from Metro Center.
You're right, I was thinking of it on the basis of "how a crow flies" or whatever the saying is, rather than how to feasibly walk over there. Smithsonian definitely is just a 15ish minute walk though.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

All good points.
But word to the wise, everyone: don't trust anything WMATA tells you WMATA=the devil, in a word.

I very rarely use the Metro anymore, a lot of time wasted on that thing.
I would just Uber and split it with friends (if not solo). While there's a good chance Uber will be like 2X odds (just an assumption), I think it is completely worth it because it is usually the quickest and least stressful form of transportation.

Plus...road sodas.
I think my plan will be to metro in at the beginning of the day but uber/cab to leave. Obviously lots of time to figure it out... But for non-DCers, fear not - there may not be a metro station right by it, but it really won't be too hard to get to the area.

What is everyone's absolute won't miss set for this? I don't care if they're up against The Strokes or Alt J or whoever, i will be up close and center for CHVRCHES.

I will probably miss either Chromeo or Band of Horses. I'm optimistic though because most bands end their tour around September so there's a ton of possible additions. I think they'll add a big act in between alt-J and Chvches on the lineup. If you go mono e mono down the poster, it goes Drake v Strokes, then alt-J v Chvrches, and alt-J is a lot bigger. Please Interpol or Florence.

Florence is wayyy too big. She'd hands down be a headliner over the Strokes. And for a two day festival, that's asking quite a lot. Interpol would make sense though

I agree for sure. I don't think Flo would be an add. But it would be amazing if somehow it happened.
I could see an add like Future Islands.
Edit: Nvm, they're in CA that weekend. But an act around that level of fame/popularity.

Did they even say anything about new additions? As for me my most anticipated 1. The Strokes 2. Alt J 3. CHVRCHES 4.Lord Huron 5.The Lone Bellow 6.The War on Drugs Honestly Ben Howard, Band of Horses, The Joy Formidable, Dr. John would be up there but I have seen them all before.
