Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
As a newbie I want to fit right in. From reading these boards I've gleaned:
1 If you yell "Corncat" Inforoo-ers will respond with "Nom Nom Nom" 2 It is appropriate and welcomed to high-five complete strangers. 3 You may randomly yell "Bonnaroo!!!" without anyone thinking you're crazy.
Are these correct? What other traditions and customs do you have to share? Please list them here so us Noobs aren't totally obvious!
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
Truthfully, you'll go and forget it's your first year. You're welcomed by people you don't even know as if they have known you for years. It's amazing. Yelling "BONNAARROOOOOOOOOOO" will cause everyone in ear shot to yell it back, creating a domino effect. Just be ready. It's amazing.
Dance like you have ants in your pants at least once a day. Seriously, dance as if you were a kid again. People always join, great way to meet cool ppl =D

And wander through tent only.... Especially with something to share... Great way to meet awesome people. If you see a couch or people playing instruments or a trampoline, go join in!

Listening to Bonnaroo going through the pod like a wave is one of my favorite memories from my first year.

My tired old eyes read this as "people playing instruments on a trampoline".....sounds like fun!

Yup! Although maybe it's me gettin' all older and curmudgeonly that I hear it less and less each year.

I have a suggestion. DO head to tent only but take a festicab (golf carts you pay 'em 5 buks and they'll take you anywhere you can legally go on the farm) on your way there just hold out your hand like you would for a high 5 and smile at the folks walking towards you. Additionally if they have the mouse maze up in front of the Arch alternate holding your left and right hand up as you walk through it. If this is your first Roo I don't want to spoil the fun of why I'm suggesting this.
Also purell hand sanitizer doesn't mean your disingenuous.

I'm not going to lie, the "BONNAROOOOOOOO" is something that happens at lots of fests with a name that works. I went to Hookahville for years and years and the Hookah call is something that I'd hear when I laid down in a quiet room to sleep for days after the fest. (HOOOOOOKKAAAAAAAH)
But the walk into the arch is totally a roo thing. Very few other places have that feeling you get as you're walking in for the first time and going under the arch. It was def a great moment.
This also makes me realize I never made that walk last year. I went under (well, drove) the arch before the fest started, but I never got to do the walk in.

I usually do a late night/early morning trek and exploration of Centeroo before going back to camp and sleeping. Probably Thursday or Friday. bonzai has spotted me during this time.

A fun tradition: group sing-a-longs as you enter/exit different areas with huge crowds of people during peak times. Frequently overheard: "....Oh baby you!!!! You got what I need!!!!...."

This brings a huge smile to my face every time I hear it. I remember walking out after Paul McCartney and someone started singing "Bonnaroo, you've got what I need." And everyone sang. Thousands of people singing it while walking out of the arch. I love Roo.
This will be my 5th and we have still never rode the Ferris wheel. Every year we say this time but never do. This time I will though.

After Phish in 2012 walking along the path outside the arch in the rain it was "build me up buttercup". really really great memory.
One tradition you DON'T want to be a part of is be one of those people who are wasted and passed out randomly or throwing up in the grass on WEDNESDAY.
I enjoyed the random people who came up and yelled "HAPPY BONNAROO" and gave high fives. I expected a lot more high fives but only really got them at the arch.

I was That Guy my first year. Well, I lasted until Saturday. Passed under a neighbor's EZ Up mid-afternoon and woke up during the Dead, covered in vomit. Good times.
Which brings me to this piece of advice: Do Not Drink During The Day. Wait until sunset 'cause the sun is gonna kick your ass...
