What are peoples feelings on powered speakers in the campsite? I got a new KMC3 and am bringing it. It gets pretty damn loud. Was wondering what people felt like a cutoff time was for music in the campgrounds? With Kalliope stage going til 6 or 7 am I know that can be heard and felt throughout the campgrounds.
I am not a fan of people blaring music in the campgrounds. Sleep is fleeting and precious at Bonnaroo. The last thing I need is someone blasting Sublime right next to my head while I am trying to get some rest.
Not saying you would do that, just that that is usually what happens.

I agree. Even though I'm so tired at Roo and able to sleep through anything, I definitely enjoy coming back to a quiet camp.
There's so much music that you really don't need them. I tried to go back to camp during Lil Wayne a couple of years ago and to my regret I could hear every freakin word
It's mostly for those hours between 10am and 1pm when it is to hot to sleep in your tent anymore and nothing is going on in centeroo yet so we hang out at camp. Wouldn't be blaring at night as I would still be in centeroo at the Kalliope stage.
Please leave the speakers at home. I forsee them causing issues with your neighbors (as in, I can guarantee there will be problems if you're my neighbor). A lot of people sleep under their canopies after it's too hot to sleep in a tent.

I managed to sleep until 11am multiple days last year. If this was ruined by overly loud music (regardless of who it was), I would be displeased. If it was kept at a reasonable volume (the campgrounds are never pin drop quiet), I wouldn't have as much of a problem with it.
I sleep with ear plugs in, so everything is muffled anyways. But yea, just keep them at a reasonable level and time of day and I don't see why it'd be a problem. If your neighbors do say something, don't be an asshole. Be respectful and just turn it down/stop. I don't see why music in the eary afternoon would be a problem though.
I've never been to a festival where people weren't playing music in the campground throughout the daytime.. Night is a different story, but it seems ludicrous to me that people would advise not playing music at your campsite before heading in for the day.
This will be my first Roo though, so what do I know?

just do your thing. People are going to moan and complain regardless! It makes zero sense to me that anyone can go to a music festival and complain about music. peace and quite can be found at a hotel.
Kindly keep it off or to a dull roar from about midnight (maybe 2am on Fri & Sat) 'til 10am.
There are festivals where renegade stages are allowed or even encouraged; Bonnaroo is not one of them. If you've ever camped next to a guy who treated his Subaru as his own non-stop doof-doofing station, you would understand why.
Last year I was camped next to what appeared to be 12 guys who partied all weekend. Like, they even had a balloon tank inhaling that shit, and drank, and took many other wonderful things all weekend. They were the ones from alabama who yelled roll tide at everything imaginable and had a sign offering free abortions on site (they had clothes hangers on their ez up with the sign).
With all of that being said, the one amazing thing their camp had... WAS SPEAKERS. And you know what they played all weekend? POWER BY KANYE, ON LOOP AND IT WAS AMAZING. They played some other stuff, but power really got everyone going and none of the neighbors seemed to mind. It actually made the atmosphere around me much more fun. Every morning like clock work, 7am rolled around... and here came kanye blasting.

Yes bring them speakers. Crank those bitches to eleven and rage on. Nay Sayers will always nay say. This is roo you do you!

I've brought speakers every year. Don't play when people could be sleeping (12-9 am)...why would you even be at your campsite during those times if you weren't sleeping? It all comes down to common sense.

The fact that you mentioned that they are loud is what makes me tell you to leave them at home.
GA campsites are small. You won't need audio to travel a great distance.
OR.. And I know this might be a wild thought.. But maybe just turn them down.
When a purchase is made based on how banging they can be...experience tells me the owner doesn't really understand or care about the concept of reasonable volume.

so yea, i like having speakers for afternoon at camp, but yea just keep it reasonable on the volume. i wouldn't play any music after the late night shows, unless it's like phone speaker volume. but i need my tunes while at camp from 10am-4ish. not that i'd crank music up at 10 for the most part, but it's a music festival, the people here like music, just don't ruin their sleep. i don't think it's too complicated really
My first few years, there was an older guy that camped near us (being the first couple hundred onto the farm each year means anyone else who does as well will be near you too) who blasted old school Britney Spears for a few songs every morning. I ain't even mad! I laughed every single time.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
It's so loud I can't care if someone has speakers. I wear ear plugs and call it a night. Around the corner in TO last year there was a group of kids blasting music and having a dance party by the vendors. I couldn't hear a thing and I don't expect to get much sleep at a festival anyways. The only time I've said something to someone was at all places, in WI camping for a warrior dash. A bride and groom decided that it was a great place to have a bachelor/bachelorette party. Everyone was piss drunk and crazy loud. When I woke up the next morning people were just passed out on the floor next to my tent. At least they weren't in my tent, could have been worse. Or better? Eh

To me, the guy blasting kanye on repeat made my first bonnaroo experience. I'll be a little sad if I don't have equally cool neighbors this year. In fact, all of my neighbors were pretty cool in general.
