Duran Duran released their tour dates, and they have a gap from late April to early July.
They do play Nashville in July, but that could allow them to play Roo first (unless the radius clause applies to dates after the festival; this I am uncertain of).
If that were the case, they would've held off on announcing the Nashville date until Bonnaroo's lineup dropped. And yes, the radius clause applies to dates before and after the festival. Chances are they'll be in Europe, which makes me sad because that means Chic is likely out.
Thank you for the clarity, and pardon my ignorance on the radius clause subject.
That's a damn shame; I would have loved to have seen either of them on the Farm

Yeah, I was hoping for Chic and a Nile Rodgers superjam, but it looks like that's out of the cards for next year.

Nile could still be in the superjam, but it would have been a lot more likely with a Chic set. Maybe because Chic are an opener they can sneak around the radius clause? Please?

As much as I'd love to believe otherwise, I've accepted that they're not playing. Chic would be pretty high on the bill (easily top 15-20), and they seem to be much more interested in playing European festivals than North American festivals.

I've been hoping for at least one of these four, and it seems like we're probably going to get none: Duran Duran Chic New Order Jeff Lynne's ELO
America has to learn how to do festivals as good as Europe

Just curious, what do you mean by your last statement?

A lot of artists prefer European festivals, having never been to one I can't exactly explain why, but I'm sure there's some reason. Sometimes it's just because that artist is more popular in Europe/UK than in the US (see Sigur Ros, all metal bands), but there's also just a perception that European festivals are superior to US ones. Primavera and Glastonbury are regularly viewed as two of the best in the world.

Gotcha. Wasn't sure if I was missing some specific thing about euro fests that made them superior or what.
I'm assuming this is about Lorde? I think this has been discussed before, but I really enjoy her dancing because to me it's incredibly honest. Like that's what I imagine her doing when she listens to music at home when no one's around. It suits her and the role in pop music that she's adopted. But I can see how it might be annoying to many who watch it, and I've heard far more negative response than positive response about it from friends. To each their own I suppose
Yeah, it kills cause I love that she's just doing her thing and not caring what people think, but it am not a fan of the moves.
I remember seeing her perform for an award show on TV (Grammys I think?) and I thought the "dancing" was really off-putting as well. When I saw her live some months later it seemed toned back and much more fluid on stage. I kinda get why she does it because that is how I move when I listen to music, particularly when it has the kind of mood/beats that Pure Heroine did, it's endearing in a way to me.
That said, I'd love to catch Lorde on the farm but I think that's more 2017 territory.
Has anyone mentioned the possibility of boysetsfire? They start doing Europe festivals the following week... That would be the tits. The amount of energy that band brings is amazing.
Just got home from seeing The Arcs. They were fantastic. Really enjoyed the two drummers and 3 back up singers (they kind of had a Supremes vibe). Auerbach was on point. Very cool visuals. They kind of have the sound I wish Black Keys had developed. I think the performance would lend itself to a bigger stage pretty seamlessly.
I've really enjoyed the album. Had the exact same thought that The Arcs is where The Black Keys should have gone right before or after Brothers. I almost went to that show, was going to get a ticket because a friend of mine was going, but someone at work had to give up their ticket for Deerhunter and offered it to me for free, so that's where I ended up and have no regrets. Would love The Arcs to be at Roo/other fests this summer though, and I'd have to imagine they will be

The Nashville show four weeks after Roo
Someone posted these dates a few days ago. I think this makes either very unlikely. The Nashville date is too close to Roo, and the gap suggests a European tour.

I bought the NOLA tickets because after seeing the dates, I figured there was no way they'd be at Bonnaroo.
