So we didn't get to walk under the arch until AFTER Billy Joel on Sunday.
Is this a new thing from now on? No zig zaging thru high fives, no arch until after the headliner on Sunday?
I got multiple explanations from security as to why we couldn't walk under it (too many people, ground would get muddy, it'll be open Friday/Satuday/Sunday, people keep tearing apart the arch).
I walked under it twice. They stopped it about 3ish on Friday.
It was more quick to get into centeroo without circling around. The high fives though are important for the vibes going in... kinda missed it. Kinda didn't care. Was more sad about Sunday night leaving and not getting to walk under it than I was not walking under it every day to get into centeroo

So. My job thursday was to do over 21 wristbands at the arch line. I was there from 10 to 1 like each of the last 3 years. I noticed the line went super fast and at one point the high fives were plentiful. So many at times it sounded like applause. It was a cool moment. Maybe you saw me. I had on light blue shirt and a big straw hat.

Funny, I only got to walk under it on my way out Sunday (my friends and I and bunch of other bonnaroovians jumped the gate because we refused to not walk out under it.) the zig-zagging depended on when you walked in. The first time I walked in on Friday, it had zig-zagged a little bit, but every other time, they had the lines running like a well oiled machine and it didn't back up. 1. That really impressed me and made me wonder why it got so backed up in the past. 2. It kinda bummed me out not to get high fives, but if was fine with it because it was because we were getting in so fast. As long as I get to walk out under the arch Sunday night, I'm fine. But, I'd like to walk under it everyday. That was one of my group's only qualms with this year.

I never got an over 21 wristband all weekend long AND I didn't get to walk under the arch. I didn't realize it before, but now that I know, 2015 was completely ruined for me.

I was actually for realsies sad about not walking under the arch on the way in Thursday. Sunday we did but not b/c they let us but b/c people knocked down the fences. then others in my group went to the side and ended up trapped and had to jump a fence while getting squished by thousands of people. seriously....not cool.
anywho, I want to walk under it on the way in Thursday and on the way out Sunday. other than that IDC
Does anyone know WHY it was changed? When I say I was standing still for 10 minutes in the line under the arch friday afternoon, they opened the gates behind us and let hundreds of people through while we all stood in line under the arch, not moving. After that, I never walked under it again. Like I said before, even the volunteers didn't know why they had opened the gates behind us and wouldn't let us turn around. One of the volunteers yelled "we were told to open the gates" while the other volunteer near me was mumbling under his breath about they shouldn't open the gates. We were all yelling it's not fair. If I would've known that was the last time I would walk under the arch, I would've been more happy and enjoyed the high fives.
After seeing the mumford video -- I was wondering... did they shut it down to film part of their music video?
How fucked up will it be if they section off the arch from now on? Now it's a piece of "art" devoid of any practical use. Once upon a time people used to walk under it on their way to make amazing memories in Centeroo. Now you can just look at it. A piece of history you can't interact with and will never be connected directly to. At my first Bonnaroo walking under the arch for the first time on my way to Centeroo was an amazing moment. I feel sorry for folks who 2015 was their first roo. The arch is now just some roped off ruins you can look at "Once upon a time people just like you used to walk under this arch before they got to Centeroo."
I want to give a heart felt FUCK YOU to whoever made the decision to close the arch. Seriously FUCK YOU.
I had no idea I felt this strongly about the subject! Fuck therapy whiskey works just fine! But it was a bummer we couldn't walk under the arch to enter centeroo.
i think the arch tends to get abused by people. wasnt' pretty after elton john
Yeah it was definitely not a vibesy moment walking out after Elton and seeing people tearing the arch apart. One of the weirdest things I've ever witnessed at Bonnaroo.
I wouldn't let people walk under it anymore, either.

Uggh. Really?
Crikey, people. This is why we can't have nice things.

From what I saw security was letting people rip apart the arch. The only thing security told them was to not stand on the guardrails. Didn't people used to spray paint the underside of the arch in years past?

There was also a strange anti gay sentiment going around while exiting Elton John. Kind of made me think that roo is changing for the worse. This year that spiral seemed to continue. Or maybe I need to get back into vip

As I was exiting a few idiots tried to start a "fuck Coachella" chant, and one of the Bonnaroo volunteers started joining in. That was pathetic.
Stop making the arch out of material that can be easily ripped off if you don't want people to rip it off. Glittery paper circles have run their course anyway.
i didn't even walk under the arch until my 3rd or 4th bonnaroo. i was always camped way closer to the entrance by the Other tent and just used that one the whole time. the arch was never really a big deal to me. though they have stepped up their decoration game the past few years.
