Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
1. LINES FOR FUCKING EVERYTHING. Why?!?!?! Why does everything have to be run like people are too dumb to do it themselves (even though most are, the smart ones do a good job of correcting their short fallings). The Christmas Barn is a prime example. Two years ago, come and go as you please. There were no issues...if there wasn't room, you danced outside. Whatever! Now everything is like corralling sheep. It's pretty annoying, especially when I leave to take a two minute piss and they want me to go wait back in the line with 500 people.
2. UM, WHAT HAPPENED TO LATE NIGHT?! Not a single show even came close to sunrise. If that's where Bonnaroo is headed, they are losing their real edge over other festivals real fucking fast. Sure, you can go to the Christmas Barn or Kalliope, and I might want to do that, but it's not what I'm looking for every night. That's also pretty annoying. ...We have seen a HUGE impact on LN with less acts, shorter sets and obvious time limits.
3. THEY STOP SELLING BEER?!?! What the fuck? I might be wrong, but I seem to remember beer being sold essentially around the clock. Am I wrong? Or is Bonnaroo fucking something else up? My guess is the latter.
I missed last year, so this year was a bit of a bitch slap of changes. I'm pretty damn loyal to Bonnaroo, but for once I'm starting to agree with people...it's getting a little too corporate feeling for my likes.
It's against the law in TN to sell beer past 3AM. Though at 6AM you can sell it again. (Except on Sunday, then its noon)

Iirc when we ran the side bar booth we stayed open selling until 4 or 5 am only to reopen at 10 am. We sold beer during those times. That was 2011 though. I'm so glad we dont do that joint any more. What a pain.

Okay, scratch that one off the list. The others tho...com'on BONNAROO!!!
MORE SHADE!!! Stop telling the ambassadors and medical staff not to hand out cold water. Double up on the port-a-potty cleanings.
Yeah more cold water please. The tent by the ferris wheel was giving out hot water while the other two were giving out cold water. I saved about $18-21 by asking the medical tent for water instead of paying three dollars for each one. They slowly caught onto me by the end of the weekend and were hesitant to give me any or said they were out. I was hot, dehydrated and covered in sweat. I'd gladly use the refill station if it weren't egg flavored!
There also needs to be more medical tents and make them easier to find. The one at the main stage is barely noticeable as its disguised as a small vendor booth and it's the most important one as its easily by the largest crowds of the weekend.
I feel like the sulfur issue was not as dramatic as some are making it out to be. I encountered it once or twice but in those cases I walked to the next one and it was fine. (It is still potable, by the way.) Really, I feel like it was better than in previous years. When they they first introduced the water stations replacing the sinks in Centeroo it was pervasive. Now it's just an occasional issue.

All of the "mushroom" water stations are filtered, and typically that's enough to take care of the sulfur smell/taste. Back when they used to have unfiltered stations it was definitely more of an issue, but now that everything has been replaced by "mushrooms" it should be better. If you encounter a mushroom water station that has too much sulfur taste for you, just try another one like cdevaney said. Sometimes the filters just can't keep up with a super large volume of traffic - I definitely noticed that happening with the one closest to the clock tower entrance at times, but that one gets allll the traffic - when I went to a different one it was fine.
I only had one of the fountains all weekend give me egg water. It was great to have pretty good tasting water all weekend, but that one time I got egg water really grossed me out because I came to assume that it would taste good and then I got that awful taste in my mouth.

Better food options and louder sound in some tents. Not many real organic options and some stages, the sound sucked if your were not up front. Glass Animals for instance, and I was standing right by the screen.
Hydration tablets are pretty good at masking the eggy taste. They have B vitamins and stuff which I guess serves some purpose, and you can get ones with caffeine in them too to help keep you moving. Mostly though they come in different flavors, which is a godsend when your water tastes like Guy Fieri's farts.

I think someone mentioned it in the Q&A with the festival organizers, but showing a live feed in between sets of shows going on at other stages would be awesome.
And don't have them conflict with a better show (like this year)
Elaborate.
Atomic Bomb. I went over to MMJ after atomic bomb finished and MMJ couldn't touch Atomic Bomb with a 10' pole. This is coming from a big MMJ fan. I'm sure MMJ was great, but Atomic Bomb is extremely rare and I made the decision to skip MMJ for it. In the end, it was arguably my favorite show of the weekend (tied with Flying Lotus)

Yeah it was dumb of them to put those two up against each other, but I'd never seen MMJ before and couldn't pass it up. Was near the front and they were fantastic.

Nice, glad you had a great spot and enjoyed yourself. Atomic Bomb had the smallest crowd of any tent pre-HL I've ever seen. Walked up like 5 minutes before they were supposed to start nd my friends and I got like 5th row. It was amazing. What I saw of MMJ was good, but I was way in the back and just chillin in the grass (mainly just killing time before Slayer started)

Did you happen to catch Dondante? Best damn moment of the weekend for me. Didn't think they'd play it and when they did it was magic.

I did not, I only got the last like 25 minutes of MMJ
Give us some water refill stations that doesn't taste like eggs and sulfur.
And because it was nasty, people were dumping their bottles out right after filling them, creating more problems. A swamp formed on the path between the Which and What stage as a result.
That was only the one station, nearest hammegedon right? I just avoided that one. I have to say, the water situation was impressive compared to other festivals I've been too. Firefly was awful - there was like 2 camelback stations with literal faucets. Waited 30 min and took forever to fill.
Every time I asked a volunteer a question I was never able to get any kind of answer. This happened probably once a day for me at the festival. It all was highlighted as I was driving out on sunday night. There was not really anybody leaving at the time so there was no line going through the exit. I get to an intersection where you could drive straight or turn left. There were two people directing traffic. I yelled simply "exit?" and pointed left at the first kid directing traffic. He just gives me a dead stare and looked really high. The next person down was this surly old lady that just was yelling at me that I was blocking traffic when I was just trying to figure out which way to go when there were no signs and the attendants were doing nothing.
Educating volunteers that have some sort of motivation would go a long way
As a 2015 volunteer, I couldn't agree more. I was extremely frustrated at how disorganized they were, and the lack of training I received.. I worked the tollbooths and had to figure it out as the day went by. I'm genuinely interested in the festival and wanted to help out and give back, but even our supervisors were useless. I was a little insulted, we were told to arrive by Tuesday and I thought they would give us an orientation when we got there, but it wasn't the case. Wednesday was a huge waste of day, couldn't even go into Centeroo and check things out and our campsite was like 2 miles from the other volunteers. I don't think I'd ever volunteer again, which is a shame because it's a great way to meet new people and get your ticket comped. But unfortunately, that's what happens.. bunch of kids who don't want to go to Roo for free and don't care that much.
I'm confused. You guys had to empty your camelback before entry? Not only did this never happen to me - I was also never searched. A couple times they felt camelback (I guess looking for bottles), but thats it. never hadto open my bag, never was patted down. And many times I was just waved in through without anything at all. I was VIP this year - is this a VIP perk? Last year I wasn't VIP and I was patted down and backpack searched every time.
Must be a VIP perk - I never emptied mine either. They basically glanced inside of all of my zipped compartments and sent me on my way.
That or you're a naked girl. Or you make friends with the security. I made friends with the security hah.
Miffy- I loved being a volunteer and will definitely do it again, but I also was frustrated by the lack of training. I agree, what's the point of coming in Tuesday and not doing anything at all on Wednesday except get locked down in our pod? That time could have been well spent with some orientation. Don't give up on volunteering because it IS richly rewarding--just change your C'roo next year. I worked with Access and it was great!
