Miffy- I loved being a volunteer and will definitely do it again, but I also was frustrated by the lack of training. I agree, what's the point of coming in Tuesday and not doing anything at all on Wednesday except get locked down in our pod? That time could have been well spent with some orientation. Don't give up on volunteering because it IS richly rewarding--just change your C'roo next year. I worked with Access and it was great!
Yea I did west tollbooth, and it is painfully mindless. I sat there and scanned like 5 cars an hour... I think I need to do something more stimulating, perhaps that could change my whole experience. Thanks for the push...I just might consider it. what did you end up doing in access
I had a great job. I was an "usher" at the main stage access viewing platform. All we had to do was make sure the guests had the ADA wristbands, set up and take down folding chairs, make sure no one smoked on the platform. My shift was from 3pm to 9pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The downside is there is no shade, but the plus sides were all that great music, and the satisfaction of helping grateful people enjoy Bonnaroo who might have been unable to come if it weren't for the access program. And watching the interpreters signing the songs for the hearing impaired was amazing. They play a mean air guitar!
i just want a bonnaroo sticker. that was my suggestion on the survey. give me a bandana and a sticker.
they gave out bumper stickers with the tickets in 07 or 08. It was an orange outline of the state of Tennessee that said bonnaroo. pretty simple, but I liked it.

Definitely '08. I went in '07, and don't have one.

Didn't they send bumper stickers with wristbands and bananas in 2013, too? I feel like I remember having one on my car but I don't have the same car anymore to check, haha.

Ya, I think you're right. Some sort of sticker at least.

Maybe it wasn't supposed to be a bumper sticker. I know I put it on my car and was disappointed when it wore off quickly. And I noticed someone in my apartment complex with the same problem on theirs. Never occurred to me til just now that maybe it WASN'T a bumper sticker after all, haha.
Fucking Which stage. They know that the sound/bleed from other stages is a problem. Why haven't they fixed it? Or at least not have stupid scheduling like some loud ass bass in This tent during Robert Plant. That was the only negative thing the whole weekend. It really pissed me off though. We moved around, couldn't get away from the fucking bass and finally I just left.
It blows my mind that people are complaining about bass. If you don't like bass, wth are you doing at roo? On a more positive note, Roo planted tons of trees to make borders between the stages and tents to block sound and help with shade, but it'll take a few years for them to grow big enough to work.
I don't believe anyone enjoys bass from another stage interfering with the band that you're trying hear. What I'm doing at roo is trying to hear Robert Fucking Plant.

It was definitely more noticeable at robert plant. We kept getting closer to get away from G-eazy but it just wouldn't go away. I still heard both sets at the same. damn. time.

I think you have bonnaroo confused with an EDM festival? Or maybe you're one of those people that only come out for late night?

I definitely feel you on the lack of training. I was on the Info/PODs crew and ended up working the main lost & found booth. For a good hour I felt completely useless, because I had no idea what I was doing. I eventually got the hang of it. I would recommend lost & found, as it was always super busy. My shifts flew by. I don't think I would volunteer again, because having to arrive so early and live in a tent for 5 days killed me. The 2 day lockdown drove me insane, and I ended up sick on Sunday from what I can only guess was being outdoors for that long.
With that said, they need to beef up security in POD 10. The amount of people coming to lost & found looking for stolen items from that POD was staggering.
1. Walking under the arch (so maybe adding security at the foot to stop people from taking it apart until after the last act on Sunday) 2. Was it just me or was Sunday night awkward. Where were the fireworks? Where was the spontaneous jam with another artist? Where was the encore Billy? No one knew whether or not it was over lol
I loved Roo, but it didn't live up to the expectations

Yeah, it seemed like even the organizers were caught off guard by the abrupt end to the show. I thought that I had read somewhere that he was under the weather but that may have just been speculation.
Either way, not a legendary performance to close the festival on which is too bad because it was one of the more sizable crowds I've noticed for a Sunday closer.
I'm sorry to hear that you were underwhelmed by the festival overall. There wasn't as many special things to set the festival above the competition as I feel there was in prior years so I can see why. Hopefully you'll have a better experience if you go back next year.
