Launchy - you know I've got your back, but there's a better way to bucket those qualms. If misogynistic views from frontmen in their early 20s would disqualify bands from being acceptable fest acts - it would be a pretty small pool. Not a lot of rap to pick from either.
People seem pretty happy with Dead and Co being in the mix - god knows John Mayer has floated some comments that are fairly cringeworthy.
I think disliking GNR is fair play - but Axl has always been an equal opportunity offender.

^ all this. If you want to say Axl's solo roadshow was so bad you can't bring yourself to be at all interested in a reunion, I could see it. I don't agree, but that seems to be a popular opinion.
I like when EDM super fans take a stand against misogynism in other genres.
I take a stand against misogynism in any genre. No place for it. It's cringeworthy and tacky and any "artist" who stoops to going that way, isn't very talented.
The only place I find it acceptable is in some hip hop. I think Tupac for instance tackled the topic in a very tongue in cheek smart way. Doing a song like I Get Around and then turning around doing something like Brenda's Got a Baby was meant to capture the duality of man. Ditto for artists like Prince who I think sings about sexual empowerment, but gets lumped in as a sexist by those who don't get it.
Now lets talk about your Indiana drinking bro Axl. Spewing out shit lyrics like “Turn around, bitch, I got a use for you, besides, you ain’t got nothing better to do, and I’m bored.” I hear something like that, I see no artistic meritt, and the thought that comes to mind is, die in a fire you garbage person.
I don't feel like getting into this with you, but I could cherry pick some really dumb AC/DC lyrics, and you willingly went to see them recently.
You don't particularly like them because they're mysoginist, yet you went to their show. Way to "take a stand against mysogny in any genre."
I also went to go see the new Star Wars, yet I do not condone mass genocide in the form of destroying entire planets via a Death Star. Go figure. Either I'm a huge hypocrite or viewing habits arent indicative of social principals at all.
Better not tell you about how much I am against habitual use of addictive drugs, yet love Breaking Bad.
I mean it would be kinda silly to book GNR only 3 years after they already did it. And someone's trolling here, I think Launch is getting our hopes up for GB, when the real lineup exists a few weeks later with that "Coachella of NY" fest.
The festival is not happening two weeks after governors ball anymore. It may not even be happening at all.

I think they both could. Both bands have headlined areas in and around the NYC area. I could see them going against an electronic/hip hop/pop artist to close out a night.
Back to GovBall talk: would Arctic Monkeys or Queens of the Stone Age be welcomed as a top three booking?
I don't think either of them will be playing shows this summer.
Probably right about QOTSA. I dont see Josh talking the band out on tour until they have a new album out. And since they got off the road in the fall of 2014, he recorded and produced the new Eagles of Death Metal album and thats been about it.

I'm playing around with the Governors Ball website and some kind of interesting stuff is happening. I'm typing in names of the bands in the place of last years lineup and Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Of Monsters & Men, The Weeknd, Neon Indian, Beirut, Purity Ring, Disclosure, Magical Cloudz, and Mac Miller aren't opening because of too many redirects. Bloc Party also changes from bloc-party to bloc-party-. Beyonce changes to put the accent on the e. Coldplay changes to coldplay-. Typing in the-national also redirected to sufjan-stevens. Typing in d-angelo redirects to dangelo. Beach House change to beach-house-. I'm not sure how much this means but I thought I'd put it out there. I'm gonna keep trying stuff and check if anything else changes.
Must See 2018 List: 1. Drake 2. The Cure 3. David Byrne 4. King Krule 5. Moses Sumney 6. Dua Lipa 7. Mount Kimbie 8. Perfume Genius 9. Yaeji 10. Big Thief
