Honestly, and I hate saying this as I've been attending since its inception, this festival has SO much to improve on. I won't go into a long diatribe, as seemingly every blog that we probably all read has addressed the negatives. The sound needs to be fixed first and foremost.
All that said, I loved the crowds on the "indie" side of the fest and they continue to foster some truly special festival moments.
If Radiohead is there in 2016, which I think they will be, I'll be there for sure, but I really hope they address some of the blemishes from this year.
One of these acts may or may not have already been contacted with an offer to headline.
WHY DO THIS TO ME DOOD! Radiohead FTW!!! But i'm sure out of those 3 Radiohead is the least likely to appear.
I'm guessing they contacted Jay Z, to ask if Beyonce is available???
This year was awesome, my only real complaint was that it did seem more crowded than years past, but that is probably due to the festival scene blowing up. I agree they need to work on sound issues, but is there any festival that has that all right? I imagine if they plan to keep on growing, they have to add more space or something, maybe another smaller stage or tent or something?
Imagine they'll stick to the Rock Headliner, and an EDM headliner/Rap headliner... Who could be our EDM headliner??? Think we're getting Necter'd? In which case they will absolutely need to expand the grounds because of all those gawd damn bassheads.
Just imagine Phish and Bassnectar, and all those fanboys flooding the island.

This would be spectacular. I think Phish might actually be the one with an offer, IIRC during one of their AMAs the promoters mentioned that they've been going after them for years.
I think the sound issues are an overblown problem personally. The late night situation with Bonnaroo's tents/Kalliope Stage were way worse. At Gov Ball I felt it was tolerable. I think the beer thing is a bigger problem for me, anyway.
Next years lineup is already better than any festival stateside this year.
What does that mean? I'm assuming this is all based on one (potential) headliner? since I think they wouldn't be far along at all with the booking process right now

Are the two artists you know both headliners?
Im betting on Radiohead - Gorillaz - Beyonce.
I thought I read somewhere that NWA was doing a reunion tour with Eminem. For now I think its planned for only Europe, but I could see that being a huge festival grab next year.

If they get those three headliners, I'll almost certainly making the trip to Gov Ball next year (unless another fest can get Radiohead and Gorillaz)
If they've already got the bands locked in, I would guess against Radiohead or Gorillaz. I don't know that it fits either band's M.O. to book something major for next summer when they're both supposedly just starting the recording process for a new album.
As far as Radiohead goes, it could theoretically be a similar situation to 2006. They played a handful of festivals that year and showcased new material from In Rainbows, even though the album wasn't released until late 2007.

I'm so excited to get back to NYC for this festival. I'm hoping to grab some friends who haven't really gone to any music festivals. A name like Pearl Jam or Gorillaz would convince them to get a ticket. 2014 was a blast for me but it'll be nice to know how the festival runs heading into it.
